Paint Color
I put 4 choices on paint colors up on my CarsDomain Page with a new Poll. Whatever color is the highest ranked when I go to paint in Aug. I'll go with. I'd be happy with any of the 4! I think that's the problem. REMEMBER YOU CAN'T PAINT WITHOUT THE PAIN!

The Engine and Rear suspension installation has started and the trunk is almost complete, just final welding.

Finishing up the sheet metal, new rear quarters, creating new engine bay sheet metal, creating a mounting system for a custom Ron Davis Radiator; the default BBF Mustang one from then did not fit. Front and Rear coilover system installed. Fuel Tank Sump Installed. Everything finalized and seam welded.

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...76_83_full.jpg I've got some good leads on moving the car to a new restoration shop to finish up the body & chassis work. In the meantime I'll install the suspension and brakes to let it roll again. |
Update:
I've been busy this last 1.5 years getting another degree, a stressful job and commute, wife/kids, work around the house; so I let the car sit. I kept talking to people about good guys to work with and I found someone a while back. I also had to find and buy little parts that were lost when I got my car back. That took a while because some of them were original mustang parts that are hard to find. Now I'm getting back to the project. I let it sit too long, a little surface rust developed. Going back over the car today I noticed a bunch of things the previous guy did wrong while working on it. I also had to remove all the little items he didn't bother to take off before he sprayed it with primer (besides the rust he sprayed right over) like the ignition & headlight switches, the covertible top switch, little screws on the interior, pieces of the dashboard, washer pump, a sheetmetal screw he used to hold a panel in place while he welded it, the door handles and locks. So it's finally stripped. One of the biggest problems the last two days has been trying to figure out all the little nuts and bolts that were lost by the last builder and replacing them while installing the rear and front suspension and getting it rolling again. I had to bring it home on carpet dollies. I had a few trips to the local auto store to get that fixed. Anyway I organized all my parts, boxed up the one needed for the next phase of the project. Next Phase: * Finish MII suspension * Install the engine * Create a custom trans mount * Install subframe connectors * Install 3" Magnaflow exhaust * Modify Total Control's X-brace to fit with a custom vert support bracing. * Finish the sheet metal for the engine compartment * Order custom Ron Davis radiator - the original Ron Davis one i ordered did not fit. * Mount Radiator * Spray rust preventer on the Interior(Non-Visible), inside doors, engine compartment, underbody, and any other hidden spot I can shoot. * Then paint the engine compartment black. * Paint the underbody with bedliner coating * Finalize rear suspension * Install Dynamat * Install Wiring * Install Brakes / Plumbing * Install Fuel system At this point the engine should be in, exhaust in, wiring in, trans in, suspension in, brakes in, fuel system in, and the car drivable. The next step will be to find a body shop to repair minor issues, prep and paint the car. Finally back on all 4 wheels, load with all the parts to go to the new builder, and ready to roll! I'm so excited to take another step towards it's completion. So are my little boys, they "Helped" today and yesterday with little things like tightening bolts and helping use the air impact. Plus it's been like 20 degrees outside. |
I was worried about backspacing, but they look like they fit fine as is. Plus I'm probably still going to mini-tub when the rear quarters are replaced. I'll probably have the tires on next week sometime, trying decide if I should go local or buy from the tire rack. Local is a little more money, but they mount and balance them; plus if I have to change sizes later they said they would do it. I've been getting our cars serviced at this place for years.

I think that catches you back up.
Ever Since I Saw It On The ReenMachine Mustang I Wanted To Use The Fox Body Style Bar On Mine. $225, Never Used On Craig's List, 5 Miles From My House. What Are The Odds? The Shelby One Goes For $800 + Shipping.

Looks like your off to a good start if you want any led lights for it http://www.mustangproject.com/ and procar does make a rear seat cover that matches there front but it says for a 67 not sure if the 68 back seat is the same.
|
Your car is looking good. The roll bar looks nice and I love the wheels.
|
Good looking Mustang
|
I have the led lights already and I was first in line for the rear seat cover, but it took over a year to get because the pattern from the first batch were wrong.
Thank for the info though. Quote:

3/14/2009 - I got the tires mounted on the rims today and back on the car. Fitment looks really good as is.

looks great, the wheels look awsome on it!
|
Looks good did you stick with your local guy for the tires?
|
DiscountTiresDirect.com ended up being $400 less than the local guy and $200 less than TireRack.com. I had the local guy mount and balance them.
|
Looks great!!
|
Looks great the rims remind me of the old Shelby ones but chrome and better design.
|
That's exactly what they are, a modern version of the 67-68 shelby rims, from shelby for the 2005-2010 mustang, but they fit fine on mine.
|
Finally getting back to the car after finishing up my project at work and the semester working on my masters degree.
The front suspension and engine/trans installation will be started next week, followed by the installation of the exhaust system and the engine compartment panels. Hope to have the car to the body shop by June. |

http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0144_large.jpg What do you guys think of the draft? The color is not final and the tailpanel / gas cap are getting changed, but Kris just started and already I think it looks cool.. |

If your car turns out anything like the rendering it will be one awesome Mustang! Nice!

Getting Closer
|
http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0147_large.jpg
So my thoughts on color are Silver, Red, or Blue - with corresponding Shelby stripes. |
I say go with the silver
|
I like the latest revision of the lower grill alot better, the first one looks too tall. The spoiler looks a little on the aggressive side too IMO. Those are just details though... overall, its a great looking car. I dig the wheels and the rollbar too. Good luck on the rest of the build!
|
The silver is my favorite. Cool build!
|
We installed the TCP subframe connectors / x-frame, had to tweak the rear setup, and the engine / trans should be going in next.
http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0161_large.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0160_large.jpg |
I like that!!
|
VERY nice color! Fits the vintage of the Mustang design instead of all the flashy colors. Should look great IRL; everyone is quite surprised at how my 'old school' flat British Racing Green turned out.

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0162_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0163_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0164_large.jpg Project Updates: My neighbor Chris as been helping me fix all the mistake that ### Racing made when they were working on the car and they made a bunch! * Mounted the subframe connecters - things were a little off as happened with old cars - Chris got it looking good. He welded the frame up real nice. :) * Had to remove the upper brackets on the rear suspenion - the previous guy welded in the front bar about 2" off to the drivers side; making the rear off to that side too. We cut the old brackets and welded in new ones. Also the previous idiot welded the rear sway bars brackets in backwards. We had to cut the old ones out and weld in new ones. * Making a new transmission bracket. * Getting the engine mounts in place and the steering system completed. http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0165_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0168_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0172_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0166_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0171_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0170_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0169_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0167_large.jpg |
