Billet side mirrors?

Does anyone make billet side mirrors?

HotRod68Camaro 06-28-2007 03:35 PM

i like your thinking

rockdogz 06-28-2007 06:28 PM

Jesse Greening www.greeningautocompany.com makes some cool mirrors with this head from Billet Specialties
http://www.billetspecialties.com/ite...id=189&pid=257
attached to a late 60s GM stanchion and they look very cool. You could probably get them with any Billet Spec. mirror you wanted but that one looks the most custom and the GM stanchion makes them look unique instead of that old street rod stuff that looks like it was made on the very first Bridgeport. Another bonus is they bolt up to the stock GM holes if you have a late 60s car that came with those.

If anyone has pics of that silver 67 Camaro convert with the Yenko hood on Power Tour, He's running a set.

A friend of mine also has a set that he didn't end up using because he couldn't bear the thought of drilling into his freshly painted doors. PM me for his contact info.

Sorry for the big pic but that's the best way to see the mirror.

^^ I am not really feeling it. Time for somebody to step up and make some nice ones. :)

That looks too street rod'ish for a muscle car, IMO.

Try Evod Industries. Larry is super nice guy to deal with and will make whatever you want.

looks like they molded in the 69 light housing or an entire 69 middle section (from light to light) on a 67-68 stardard valance?

To each their own but if it looked any more original, it would be a waste of money. It already utilizes the GM stanchion to maintain a stylized factory look and you can put any shape mirror head you want on it but until Marquez or Evod comes out with something, it's about the only decent aftermarket option there is besides Steevo's bullet shaped Cobra units.

That's because they are too small.

Need a mirror that fits the look of the car and are large enough to be of use. I personally like the round '67 style mirrors (with the bowtie). The problem with them is that the passengers side doesnt articulate far enough to be very useful.

Something like that with a more updated base and a better designed head would be nice.

Same problem on my '68 w/ the square mirrors (i prefer them to the round ones). It drives me nuts that I can't use it but i think it helps the look of the car.

rockdogz 06-29-2007 10:21 AM

Agreed that I can't use the passenger mirror either...although I think I have the drivers and passengers switched, lol.
I would like a mirror that is similar to the stock one, but different enough to those who know that when you get up close it looks killer (like the Marquez tail light housings). Plus something that won't spider crack and rust like these cheap repro units are doing already...

Ditto, mine was worthless.

I think the fact that the mirror is just flat, and not convexed (or whatever type of mirror a late model uses), has a lot to do with it. That would help a lot.

awr68 06-29-2007 04:51 PM

I remember reading somwhere (camaros.net?) that if you slightly grind on the pass side base you can get it to rotate a little more making it usable...anyone try that??

HotRod68Camaro 06-29-2007 04:52 PM

i thought about it but have never tried it. maybe i will though. cheap to replace it doesnt work.

mazspeed 06-29-2007 06:01 PM

Anyone want to make something cool. I know you would have a bunch of buyers.
