Transformers - the movie

Wow...just saw the movie last night.

Growing up I didn't pay the Transformer's much attention - don't even think I had one of the toys, but I knew about them from Saturday cartoons.

Anyway...WOW. The movie was awesome and the concept 09 Camaro was just way too cool.

If you haven't seen it - do it - you won't regret it.

TONS of action - cool car chases - and fun fictional adventure!

I really, really, really, want one of those new Camaros now that I had a chance to see one in action.

I can't wait to go, I just need to find an opening between on-call schedules and kids activities. How long was it? Would you/did you take your kids?

It is just under 2 1/2 hours. We took our 3 year old. He lost interest in several sections.

There is some cussing - maybe 3 or 4 times, and some violent sequences. The robot vs. robot violence is the most, but there are some sequences where the robots attack people. They don't show any blood at all - but it is obvious people are being crushed, shot, burned - etc. by the bad robots, or as collateral damage in fighting between good and evil.

XcYZ 07-06-2007 07:33 AM

Cool, thanks Chris. My 6 1/2 year old son wants to go since it looks so good in the previews, but wasn't sure how much violence there was.

Ummgawa 07-06-2007 07:56 AM

Yea. I used to wonder what kind of a car the Pontiac Aztek would turn back into. (the first ones of course).:D

HotRod68Camaro 07-06-2007 08:02 AM

The movie was awesome. Seen it once probably going to see it atleast once more in theaters.

slck6t9 07-06-2007 12:06 PM

Agreed, one of the better movies I seen in a while.

Kris Horton 07-06-2007 12:13 PM

That movie is amazing!

Scott, there were a lot of children in both showings I've been to so far. It's not very violent unless you count the robot-on-robot stuff, but even then a lot of it is just them tumbling around. The movie also has a lot of funny parts which keeps it from being too scary for the younger crowd.

Definitely

:)

Cool, thanks Kris. I'll be taking my son next weekend.

Just got back from it. Human death toll high but not on a gorry level, almost humoris. Other than the blurred close ups to avoid excrutiating detail of the robots transofrming in some scenes, I liked it alot. It follows the cartoon close enough, those that actually remember it will enjoy the movie as I did. Forgive my spelling.

saw it the night it came out probably one of the best movies ive seen in a while, and im not impressed by many movies these days, but deff. a movie you have to see in the theatre to get the full effect. this movie will make camaro owners everywhere proud! lol bumble bee is the man!

asaenz 07-06-2007 08:55 PM

It was a good movie.
I didn't care for some of the close-up jittery fight seens.
I heard that if you watch it a second time it is much easier to follow the fight
sequences.

Very good movie.

Loved Starscream transforming from jet mode to robot (back and forth) while taking out fighter jets in the air, freaking awesome

It's worth seeing in the theater.

RECOVERY ROOM 07-06-2007 10:18 PM

She could have said it had a 2JZ engine with parts overnighted from Japan for all I care...

That was no double pumper, but she is though :unibrow: . It was a Harrop or something very similar. Even if they never build the new Camaro, it has made millions just in publicity and I still don;t like the front end on it.

Bandit Ls-1 07-08-2007 03:20 AM

$152.5 million in the 1st week. :woot:

Quote:

There's no question Michael Bay's big-budget Transformers resurrection is a hit. The question is, how big?
Measuring against previous Fourth of July weekend openings is imprecise because the film — a high-octane, sci-fi smash-fest based on the 1980s toy robot franchise — had what DreamWorks/Paramount is calling a "6.5-day" opening. It has grossed an estimated $152.5 million since special 8 p.m. screenings in 3,050 locations Monday night brought in $8.8 million.

The studio hails this as the biggest first-week box office in history for a non-sequel, beating the original Spider-Man's $151.6 million.

Over the three-day weekend, Transformers grossed $67.6 million on 4,011 screens, for a respectable screen average of $16,854.

Last year's big Fourth of July opener, Superman Returns, took in $52.5 million over the same frame, while in 2005 War of the Worlds grossed $64.9 million. All three pics are rated PG-13.

Steve1968LS2 07-08-2007 11:34 PM

Went to the see the Transformers (again) at the Arclight theater where they had all the surviving autobots on display. Except for the Camaro they all looked like you could fire them up and take them for a spin.

The Camaro was built on a GTO platform and had the frake wheel/brakes but looked great. It was also the only Autobot without an Autobot symbol somewhere on the car.

Ratchet was my fav.. would be fun to roll around town in that. :)

So, here are pics... Sorry I couldn't get better but there were a ****load of people there and there wasn't much room to move back for the big vehicles. I just had my small camera since I didn't want to lug my expensive stuff around.

Enjoy...

Here's a link to the actual 1976 Camaro itself..
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=121138

I accidentally said "bull****" when the girl opened the hood and said "high-rise double pump carburetor".. Good thing there were no kids within earshot.

Wish there were error checkers for things like this.. Seems like such a glaring oversight for somewhat of a car-guy movie.

See for yourself:

Shame.

69MyWay 07-09-2007 04:41 AM

That under the hood scene got me too, because I spoted the EFI motor right away when she started talking about the carb and dist cap being loose.

BTW - did anybody catch the Ebay name for Sam...and have they tried to see if the movie company actually set up an account under that name?

Was thinking the exact same thing, LOL... Why is it so hard for movies to get the details right regarding cars, computers, guns... Just ask someone who is into what you're talking about and they can give you the right thing to say in 5 seconds... I can only imagine the guy who actually lent his engine for the shot in the move - he's probably like: :willy:

Might be Weber Sidedrafts like the GS Vette, except with bottom linkage.

The tail lights still bug me about this car. Why couldn't they do something that hinted '69 like the front end.

I'm probably the only one here that still thinks about that.

Oh well.
