Since I am new to the site I was wondering what some of you guy's and gal's may be building that are not your average camaro, mustang, cuda ect. I personely have a couple different tri fives in the works, one will have a definit pro touring spin as well as a couple mustangs that will both be pro touring styles. nothing unusal there but thier being built to be sold . My personel baby is my fifty one merc . She is chopped and has most of the usual custom touches , but she is on one of the chassis tables and as time permits I will be constucting a new sub frame and rear 4 bar suspension setup , 9" with 3.73's a 428 fe with tri power from barry grant and a 5 speed. 17" wheel's ect. so is anybody else doing any thing a little off the wall????

black2002ls 07-12-2007 08:57 AM

Marty. Let me hear what you got. If you want to kick around ideas my e-mail is [email protected]. That is also my Yahoo ScreenName if you use messenger. It is definitely getting a v8 LSx. Would like to go with vette seats, Factory OnStar Nav unit, Not sure which way I want to go with wheels yet, I was thinking polished C6 wheels

MY 62 Rambler with FI LT1, 700r4, Mustang 2, etc, etc

My latest project a 51 Woodie with a full blown Cobra engine, 6spd t56, quick change, etc, etc.

A little bit different ?

black2002ls 07-12-2007 08:57 AM

Mark, Is that a newer GM heavy duty/full size grille and bumper? That looks killer

Brian, those are killer, love the sound of the Woodie with the Cobra motor!

John S 07-12-2007 09:09 AM

I'm with GBody...
Mine is an 86 Monte Carlo SS, but like the Regals they do not seem to be real popular with the PT crowd.

On another note some of the cars sown here are really different and awesome!

TonyL 07-12-2007 10:40 AM

I dared to be different. Corvair's are plentiful and handle awesome.

LOL

Note: Early models handle dangerously. Lates (like mine) have the same 4 wheel independent setup a corvette has. Read that as, Lighter than a vette, same suspension, better weight bias, and an almost equal power to weight ratio to the vette of the same year. When modified correctly, even with drum brakes, the car would outperform the vette at the track.

Larry www.llcustomperformance.com

early mopars are atleast 1/3 bigger than a model A, thats the whole reason i decided to go that route. the last "shop truck" project had too many space issues, which is why it got sold before i even finished it.

I'm really pushing the envelope...I'm building a red first gen camaro.:D

But my dad has been drooling over 55 Buick's the last few years.
The more I look at them, they would look awesome pro-touring style.
Smooth some of the trim and slam it on the ground...

61 Bubbletop - that car is awesome!

Thanks Jason...If your Dad is looking at doing an early Buick...he should LOVE this thing..I know I do...The car is absolutely phenominal...but the asking price of 429,000 is a bit steep...

Here is the Ebay auction..with many more pictures....INCREDIBLE car!

Ebay 1948 Buick Roadmaster

jski67 07-12-2007 09:23 PM

Wow, that is beautiful. At first I didn't care for the color
of the interior, but looking at it for awhile, it's really grown on me.

Definitely some amazing craftsmenship.

Yeah, I'll forward this to Dad...$429,000 may be a strain
on the ol' Ford pension though. :D

black2002ls 07-12-2007 09:23 PM

that corvair is clean as a whistle. love it, great lines and the paint is killer too!

TonyG 07-12-2007 11:52 PM

61bubbletop.. your car is in my top 5 favs on this site. I plan to build a 61-62 impala and your buick is just as sick!...

Oh, I am building a 65 Malibu.... Near stock restored interior with a couple of personal touches, slammed susp. carbed 421 stroker backed by t56, 12 bolt 4.10s, disk brakes with either 18's all around or staggered with 20's rear.

zbugger 07-13-2007 12:29 AM

Well, I guess I'm walking on the wild side with my 2nd Gen Camaro. Ok, maybe only because it's a big bumper '77. Building it because I like it and I don't care if nobody else does. I've also got a '65 Buick Special 4-door to build. When the Camaro is on the road and I'm happy with it, it's next.

ProTouring442 07-13-2007 04:49 AM

I'm doing a 1972 Olds 442 convertible. While it may not be a wildly out of the ordinary kind of car, I'm building it a bit different than a lot of the other "Pro-Touring" style cars.

As it's an Olds, I am making it a little more luxurious. Tilt/Tele, 6-way power seats (both sides), nice stereo, teak dash inserts, etc. Hell, I have even added cornering lamps!

Also, I have narrowed the bumpers, and made them fit the contours of the fenders and 1/4s, painted them body color, and added a home made rear spoiler.

One day it will be finished! Now that my shed is nearly done, I can hopefully get back on the car, though the walet will need to recover from the shed!
