Killer looking Fairlane at Colombus pics?
Did anybody get pics of the Fairlane at Colombus? It was a deep red with satin gray on the hood, gray interior, and layin just about on the ground with some big rollers under it. I ran out of space on my camera.

This was one of my favorites. It was built by Doug Schultz that used to own Streetworks.

what does Doug do now and who bought streetworks?
That is a cool fairlane I might ad! |
I don't know who bought the company from him, he didn't say. I'm sure someone on here will know. He did say that he has a "regular" job now. He works for the government doing some sort of metal fabrication. That's all the detail he gave other than when he walks out the door work is over and it feels good. LOL!

Really is a sweet car and to find one that nice to even start on restoring is tough they all seemdd to rust away over the years good to see one saved.
I actually was there Sunday when it was spraying fuel all over the engine compartment when an injector didnt seat and came out he was reall cool about it ecs when a million people were around asking what happened, got it fixed and parked great looking ride though love those different rides:thumbsup: |
That's a bad a$$ looking car. I love the sleek, understated look.

Cool...in a sea of Camaro's & Mustangs.

the coolest part was the 1/4 window handles, looked liked they would hit the roll bar, BUT he took apart a snap on ratchet and machined the handle on and the handle ratcheted the 1/4 windows down, worked killer and ingenious.

I really like the engine bay no nonsense extra biz going on, clean and industrial looking.

The engine compartment looks like a giant injection molded part with that finish. I wish I had been there to drool over it in person!

Very well done! Well thought out too, nothing looks like it should be on a different car, if you know what I mean.
Shiny Side Up! Bill |
Wow! That car is awesome. I have been talking it over with Steevo on how to black out the hood on my Fairlane and this defenitely helps alot.
|
That car was awesome looking in person, very clean engine bay. The flat gray (header paint) really added to the look. I had it in my top 5 as a wild card car.
|
Anybody know what the paint in the engine compartment is?

Those are a discontinued wheel that Boyd used to make. They were polished billet, but Doug Schultz gave them a matte finish for a better look on his car. Check out the front suspension too. |

I was kind thinking that the fairlane is awesome but not Troys build style at all. |
Come on,
You guys know what I mean, I just threw Troys name out there, what I was getting at was because cause he wasent a big name he didnt get "selected" Paul |

 Yep i was just picking on you because I knew you respond right away. I Still think they picked very nice cars for the top five and i would have had a hard to picking the winner. If I was going to pick a car i would have choosen that ..................... ( i'll just keep it to myself )) |
Very Very Nice!!

a few answers
The paint in the engine compartment is a custom mix PPG base coat/clear coat with flattener in the clear, the same paint is in the interior, on the hood, and on the wheels. Speaking of the wheels, they are Boyds, and they are called "hotrod". The anti-roll bar is nobody's kit, it and the bellcrank system were built for the car, the rear is the same, sans the bellcrank.
