What are you guys using for a spare?
Curious to see what everyone is using for a spare wheel/tire combo. I have a 69 Camaro with a 13' Baer up front. Seems like I remember a post about the late model GTO spare working.
|
Don't have one. If I get a flat I'm calling AAA anyways. Plus I have 18" in the front and 20" in the back. Less weight in the car too.

You could always toss one of these in - Slime Smart Spair
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com.../300/g5794.jpg I carried one in my truck in place of my stolen spacesaver for a while, and GM has basically the same thing in the Solstice in lieu of a spare. |

that tire slim works if you didnt slit the tire a normal nail in it works great.i have a fuel cell in my 68 mustang i have no room for a spare i got free towing on my insurance and ill use it if i have to.

I don't have insane wheels and tires, and doubt you guys want to go plugging your hi perf tires, but I carry a plug kit with me in my s-10. Has saved my butt on more than one occasion
|
A "fix kit" from GM.. it's what comes in the Solstice and Sky.. it's a small compressor and a can of foam.
Anything worse than that and I have AAA super premium plus towing :) |
Good topic...
I was hoping some of you can help me figure a way to strap this (31x18x20 on a 20x16) to the roof and still have it look fashionable ! http://www.hotrodsbysteve.com/projec...a/100_2094.JPG (I'm with the others.... credit card and AAA) |
I've got the solution to everyone's problem :D
http://images.autoanything.com/image...dekick_682.jpg Just color match it and you are good to go  |
Bad Karma ????
Got up this morning for work - and the left front tire on the truck is flat...... Doh !!!! It has a spare - but since I was at home I plugged it.
I'm holding all you guys responsible for that !!!! |
All this talk about tire foam and slime. I thought that stuff messed up your tire/wheel when you use it. At least that's what I have been told. :(

I use the "cell phone" spare.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have not carried one for years but you never know what can and will happen out on the road.

I've used the compressor a few times, knock on wood never had to use the slime stuff, though. |
Late model GTO spare. no problem with big brakes.
They also make great roll around wheels and tires. Mick |
No spare here.
Credit card and AAA. Scott |

I am running Corvette C6 rims and tires...
They are run flats...once they are done will go with something more sticky. Then I will carry a gun, sleeping bag and a cell phone. No way am I leaving it on the side of the road unprotected.

Hmm.. this might be a good story..
"lightweight and compact solutions for flat tire issues" The GTO spare is 25" tall.. my rear tire is 26" tall. Would 1" screw up the differential if driven like that for 50 miles? The GM fix-it kit is good and includes a 12v compressor But what about a jack.. what would be a good compact lightweigh jack for a lowered car? Remember those "air bag" jacks that hooked to the exhaust? Just a bag with a valve the inflated and lifted the car. Did they work? Oh my head is spinning now with ideas.. lol |
