Hotrod power tour question.

Im planing on attending the power tour in 2008, and i had a few questions in preparation for it. first question is how much money do u guys usually go threw on the power tour. gas, hotel, food and what not. im trying to figure out what kinda money imma need to gather up for the tour. im also wondering what u guys did mainly for food and housing. did everyone get a hotel room, or sleep in their cars or tents.what should i do to prepare myself for this years power tour. i plan on making it this year in my nova, and my dad will be going along with his truck. we have tryed the past 3 yrs but unexpected happened everytime. hopefully we will have better luck this year.

We stayed in your average hotel each night. I guess the average for each night was somewhere in the $100 ~ $120. Miles traveled seemed to average around 250 miles per day, so factor in your mileage. As for food, our group had one good meal each night, ate the continental breakfast at the hotel, and lunch was hit or miss.

I don't think Power Tour is for me. Not enough food. :D

lol, actually, there were a few places last year that provided a free lunch. It wasn't a huge meal, but the price was right. :D

The night in Memphis we had ribs, they were good. That was quite the place... can't remember the name of the joint, though.

What do you guys do about leaving your cars out front of the hotel??? I could not do it......I would be a nervous wreck. I dont see how you guys with 100K plus rides do it......:_paranoid

most of the approved hotels have security set up for the cars. We've never had a problem.

Bill dont forget the cheese and sausage appetizer and a cold bud to wash it down.. we go there quite frequently

Bill Howell 09-25-2007 09:01 PM

Yeah, I know. Nothing I had there was bad.
Melinda has never been to Beale St. so I am really looking forward to this weekend. She turns 40 Sunday so hopefully it will be a good time for her/us.
I have been on a diet for several weeks now, but I know I will blow it somewhat this weekend. May have to eat there twice to get caught up...

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Scott made me hungry talking about those Ribs....hehe

I have been on the last two Power Tours, long hauler both times. I have found it good to take along a friend to share the cost, then it is only 1/2 the price. I have found you can stay in a decent hotel for about what Jody said, buck and a quarter a night. Don't forget the trip there and back depending on your location. I drove further getting to Ohio and returning home from Little Rock this year than I did on the actual tour. Fun times though, and when it gets closer back this way, I will do it again.

thanks for the tips. i will be going with a few people so we will be able to devide up the cost. the trip there and back shouldnt be too bad. it starts in little rock, ar, so its about 6hrs away.then we end in michigan i believe. so it souldnt be too bad.
