New To The Board, Here's My 67 Camaro
My name is Jason, and I've got a 67 RS/SS Camaro I've been fixing up for several years now. It's been a lot of fun, and a lot more money! :D But I'm crazy for cars, like many of you here. So here's my car and it's journey.
I wanted to build it up as a somewhat stock looking car ouside, with some newer tech stuff inside, and pro touring suspension. This is how it looked almost 8 years ago when I bought it http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...31_37_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...31_35_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...31_36_full.jpg continued on next post... |
My work was obviously cut out for me. Lucky for me the car was straight body wise, only a lil bit of rust in the usual areas. Like bellow the rear window and in the roof gutters. The cars is a matching #'s real RS/SS 350, definately a keeper. After saving all my pay checks & tax return money I was able to get it to look like this.

Also added a Covan's Classic 6 Gauge Pod w/ Autometer Phantom Gauges. They read much more accurate, and add custom look to the stock interior. The engine and drivetrain are pretty much stock. Except for the following: K&N Ait Filter, Holley 4160 600cfm Carb, Edelbrock Polished Performer Intake Manifold, JetHot Coated Hooker Competition Headers, Aluminized exhaust w/ Flowmaster 2 Chamber Mufflers, Be Cool Coolong System w/ Polished Radiator & Electric Fan, Edelbrock Polished Aluminum Short Water Pump, Coolflex Radiator & Heater Hoses, MSD 6A Ignition Box, MSD Blaster 2 Coil, MSD Ready-2-Run Distributor, MSD 8.5mm Plug Wires, Quick Ratio Power Steering w/ Tuff Stuff Performance Chrome Power Steering Pump, March Performance Serpentine Pulleys & Brackets, Centerforce Stage II Clutch, and a Hurst Competition Shifter! Just got done installing the Hotchkis TVS System, Speedtech Upper & Lower Tubular A Arms, Baer Brakes Track & Sport Systems, Bilstein Shocks, Intro Twisted Vista Wheels, and Yokohama AVS Sport Tires. continued on next post |
My new stereo forced me to do some serious sound deadening. I needed to redo the seats, headliner, and some new interior stuff anyways. So it seemed like a good time to do it all. Here are some progress pics of that, since that's where I'm at as of now.

I've tried to turn every nut and bolt on this car myself. Most of the major mechanical in relation to engine, suspension, brakes, etc I had my mechanic do. Just not enough time, tools, & knowledge for me to handle that. Hopefully I can put it back together befpre the GoodGuys show comes around next month. Thanks for checking out my car. More pics can be seen on my cardomain page, along with pics of my 02 Z06 Corvette. I have to keep myself entertained some how when the Camaro is in the shop. |
Welcome to the site! I really like it!! What sound proofing products did you use? And yes it does take some time to build a quality car...yourself.

Jay,
You have a very clean car. What Rust Preventive Primer did you use? Is the grey color from lizard skin? David |

man seeing both of your cars makes me drool! :hail: I'm almost ashamed to tell you how long my car has been in paint prison! Hopefully soon I will get it back! Hey Jay, I've chatted with you before over on Camaros.net. I have a question on your ididit steering column. I can't tell from the pics but how do you actually mount that under the dash? Also what about the rag joint? I bought an Iroc steering box along with the rag joint so I'm hoping I can still utilize that?? I'm hoping to go to Good Guys too so maybe I will see both of you there! take it easy
