68 Camaro 315's on the front
Holy Big Wheels batman
Quote:When you see the massive 315/30/18 Michelin’s under the Front, that’s right, I said under the Front!, you have no choice but to check out the mammoth 345/30/19 Michelin’s tucked under the rear. Item number: 200160594226 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200160594226 |
The rear susp looks like a Unique Performance setup.

thats coolwelders car he posted completed a few weeks ago
https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=11371 cool car, i wonder how it turns |
|
Nice car! I take it Scott didn't write the description...unless he likes to speek in third person? ;)
|
WOW! Very nice! How could I have missed every thread he posted? :wow:
|
That's sweet! If I had the money I'd love to have that car. '68 was the year I was born.
|
I like the car but not too crazy about 315s in the front. Way too wide IMO. I love the steam rollers in the back but would go with a 245-275 in the front.

i think the performance advantage of having the 315 on the front over the 245 to 275 is pretty substantial. i would love to have that option.

315 on front:question:
:faint: i drive my car daily on the roads, it´s not a show car. with 225 or 235/45 on the front. why did you guys run with over-larged wide tires ? when i read all the postings in the wheels and tire section....its amazing when i´m read the tire sizes on the front axles. ok, cool looking....but for a good ride ?? Nope ! ball-joints, bushings, steering arms, the complete suspension must hard work with this tires. 245 or wider tires in front ? never. you will lose handling and steering quality and short life suspension parts. this is my view about big front tires now you can say: this guy is crazy and have no experience, he lives in Europe. but fact is: not allways is bigger the better way |

hi,
you are clever enough, for answer yourself: HIGH END cars and please, the most of this high end cars has electronic helpers, ABS, EPS and so on, my old cars have a very good suspension and a Eaton posi and no electronic helpers. i would like to see you when its raining on a curvy road with your large tires:thumbsup: and why suspension and steering parts ? give your kid´s your old gumboots for all day going to school and play with friends. this oversized gumboots are very good for childrens bones. |

let me see your high end please.
how many miles runs your high end tourer in one year ? how many people´s here have a 100k car ?? |

so there it is, you have nothing of fact to say about why large front tires are bad(when the same cars we take the susp from run the same large tires). and your only reply is "wheres my high end car" well mine is being finished, and i just finished one, and i have driven a 150k, and 3-4 100k cars, but i don't know anything. actually at rth3 there were several 100k cars running in the cruise in the pouring rain on mtn roads some with large tires, but none of us slid off the road?? air ride had 2 cars in it along with the giveaway chevelle, vinnys car, etc.
have fun. |
ok, i see: this is not the right forum for me and my farm truck.
68protouring454 and you can read my facts |
if thats the way you feel
|
forget it man, and be happy with your cars.
when i turn the key in my V8, i can say: this car is homemade and not build from many shops and helpers. i pay many more bucks for the same part than you. we live here in Europe, dont forget this small difference. when i need a special part, i must wait and pay for shipping and customs, for all parts. i drive my chevy and my olds with love and not for business. thats all. i hope you can understand this words from a farm truck driver from Europe. |
i never said you drove a farm truck, i just asked you questions about why you are a large front tire hater, lol, its all good and i can understand it costing you alot of money to get parts over there.

315,s on the fornt
I had a close friend write the ad because I hate to talk about my self. And after you seen Big red anything less than 315s look small. The car does turn and stop great. Scott.

Scott: Is the front Sub Frame something that can be ordered for a 1969 Camaro? Can you give us some information on how it handles with 315's on front? What are the Pro's and Con's of the large front tires? Thanks, TY |
dont worry Klaus.. they are alittle wild in here sometimes..
farm truck or not.. i LOVE your camino.. happy that my wheels are on it too. and.. um.. +1 one that has a 100K car too..;) |
315s under the frt.
The sub frame can be ordered for C4 88-up or 67-69 camaro suspenion using a unisteer rack. I am working AGR frt steer rack fitment now. $2200. plus shipping. The car drives great Would be beter WO/ all iron big block. I am working on drawing to let me fit 18X12s under the frt. I have drove the car about as hard as you can on the street .Scott

Venomous Type
thanks:thumbsup: i think my camino is a 100k car:lol: why ? the last 10 years i pumped a lot of money in this car, the most of this money not for parts........shipping and handling:rofl: 68protouring454 it´s ok for me when you drive large tires. Luxembourg is a small country on the border to Germany. And Germany have http://www.gonegerman.com/blog/images/no55.jpg |
I bet it's great for handling but not so much for drivability. I bet it follows imperfections and grooves in the road worse than a smaller front. You can always put smaller tires on
|
thanks Vegas69,
drivability, this is the right description:thumbsup: |
Wide tires or not that thing is simply amazing. I want to see some detailed build pics for sure...
