Help me pick a color and wheel combo

I'm waffling between a silver or slightly darker color vs a medium to med/dark silver-charcoal. I am pretty sure the 10 spoke wheels will come in the future, but for now will stick with the 5 spoke old school look until I save up enough for the new wheels/tires.

These are my newest renderings from Carter Hickman. I have two each in silver and a darker color, and each color has both sets of wheels. Which do you like? Or do they all suck??!!!

I want to add that working with Carter has been awesome. I am constantly asking for changes and he just keeps on delivering.

XcYZ 10-11-2007 02:24 PM

10 spokes, regardless of color. :woot:

Oh, and I voted #3. :D

70gotboost 10-11-2007 02:28 PM

I've always been a silver fan, plus I like the contrast of the silver with the charcoal wheels... I voted #1.

BallnRods 10-11-2007 02:34 PM

I went with #3 but, #1 was my second choice.
I'm just tired of seeing those played out TT2 wheels on every other car & truck.

you would say that, it was your idea!

I was between 1 and 3 as well but I preferred the contrast of 1. I usually like the wheels to be either high contrast or an exact match for the color. If they are only slightly different sometimes they may look like they are just a bad color match. I really like that dark gray though, maybe satin black wheels would look better, I dunno.

Jody, what happened to the parchment color/sleeper look? Not that I don't like this but that was a really unique look for the car. I probably missed a discussion about this somewhere.

HRBS 10-11-2007 02:58 PM

3 all the way and dont look back !

you know, you're not the first to ask that. The car has to be re-painted so if I'm going to make a color change now is the time. Initially this was my first choice for a color combo, the silver/gray. I have carbon fiber valve covers and cf accents in the interior so I thought it would blend well. Then I decided an old school look was cool, plus I've never sprayed a solid color before so I painted it the VW beige color. After painting/color sanding/buffing I wasn't as thrilled with the color as I thought I would be, then the re-paint issue came up so it made me re-consider my original choices.

It's not set in stone, I can still keep the beige. Maybe I should have added that option to the poll! :willy:

I guess I'm the only guy to vote #2. I like the silver and old school 5-spoke's. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them Jody.

Tom.A 10-11-2007 03:21 PM

I Like them all but voted for #4. I like the 5 spokes

so do I, plus I already have them. But I also like the more modern look with the 10 spokes hence the poll! :D

How about the color you had...and the 10 spokes!

I loved that color too.

I vote for #1
and call the car el Mule 2

comp-spec 10-11-2007 03:41 PM

...# 1

Stuart Adams 10-11-2007 03:41 PM

#4. I love those wheels on that car.

67ragtp 10-11-2007 03:41 PM

The 5 spokes fit the body style so nice, #4. Just look at the back wheels it explodes at you. Darker color on the exterior, looks nicer in direct sun and low light. That car is gonna look awesome, good luck with your choice- Rich

Stuart Adams 10-11-2007 03:51 PM

Either body color is great but the five spoke looks like a more natural fit to me. Either way it will be cool.

clill 10-11-2007 04:05 PM

What other wheels do you like ?:D

I saw this thread and said "wow, someone drug up a 2 year old thread about your Camaro". Then to my suprise i click on it and :willy: :willy: :willy: . I vote you show a pic of it painted now. I think either wheel would look great with the tan, but if the choice is silver or charcoal, I pick silver with darker wheels or charcoal with satin centers. How about two-tone??????

Steve1968LS2 10-11-2007 05:37 PM

I like 1 and 3

BUT, i like 3 because it's a bit more unique.. did you go check out that car/color I suggested?

no, the local automall doesn't have Subaru there, and I haven't been able to find one sitting anywhere. I looked on the internet but you need to see it in person.

My best friend is begging me NOT to go the 10 spoke, he likes #4 best of those listed but likes this best of all:

I REALLY love #3

4mm 10-11-2007 07:03 PM

I like both 1 & 3, but voted for #1 just due to the wheel color. Ideally, I would have voted for #2 if the wheel centers were charcoal/darker. The old school wheels just look so nice on that particular car (coming from a modern wheel guy). :)

zcrz 10-11-2007 07:08 PM

#3...It screams bada$$

class67 10-11-2007 07:21 PM

#3, but i'm kinda biased!

Van B 10-11-2007 07:29 PM

# 1 I agree with Ben. The contrast between the silver and dark wheels looks badass. I like the Torq Thrust wheels, but not on such a high end car.

You didn't compromise anywhere else on the car, don't cheap out on the wheels. BTW, I not only spend my own money well, but other people's too.

Spiffav8 10-11-2007 09:51 PM

#2 Just seems to flow better.

mazspeed 10-11-2007 10:55 PM

Spinners with extra bling. :D

customcam 10-12-2007 12:20 AM

Silver wheels will look good also with the chrome lip
or the Charcoal with silver wheels but a really nice silver with a grey tint
with red calipers? will look sweet imo
either way i love it the engin e is bad ass

Jims78elky 10-12-2007 03:44 AM

#3

But I like the paint in #2 a little better.

Jody,

you could put on roller skate wheels and it would look bitchin!

Being a bit old school I like 5 spokes. Also gunmetal grey was a cool color on vettes when I was a kid and I'm partial to the darker shade.

jimhamptons 10-12-2007 07:38 AM

#3 for me.

rjp71 10-12-2007 07:46 AM

Definitely 1 or 3 with a slight preference for 3. The 5 spokes just don't look right for me on the car- maybe its the body style. Although I do like the five spoke in the rendering by Carter Hickman. Maybe it's the color.

CarterHickmanDesigns 10-12-2007 08:01 AM

Jody, I made my vote. I dig on #3

Just so everyone knows the 4 images that Jody posted are renderings. Its a new style that we are testing, kinda photorealism? I will post more of this style soon.

Killer car by the way, Jody.

Looking forward to the SEMA party.

Carter

slenning 10-12-2007 08:29 AM

I voted #3 but I am kinda biased toward the darker gray. I was just wondering the other day how my camaro would look with dark 10 spoke wheels. Looks fantastic on the chevelle thats for sure. Can't wait to see it done!!

JMitch19 10-12-2007 09:20 AM

#3 ftw
