2008/2009 Corvette "SS"
I guess maybe it's me, but the name "Corvette SS" just does not sound right... Why not Corvette Stingray or something like that??
Am I just on my soap box today or are ya'll with me here?? http://www.automotive.com/future-car...z07/index.html |
I like it! And 650hp with more carbon fiber to lighten it up!
As far as the name...seems they had the same thoughts... Quote:

Should have been called the Grand Sport.

That's going to be an animal. One hell of a car.
I think ZL1 would have been a good name. |
Is that old? I thought it's been confired that it will be called a ZR-1

Damn 650hp! :wow: I don't care what they call it, but whoever said the musclcar and horspower wars were over in the 60's??? Vipers with 600hp, Mustangs with 500hp, even new Mercedes have 500-600hp! :hail:

Its funny, I am having to work at it to beat some of these new corvettes and vipers. Just ten years ago if you built up a muscle car right you could stomp most of these cars at the time. It just shows the muscle car wars are back on but, not in the same sense they were in the 1960s
|
New musclecars eh? Your average musclecar pre-71 cost around $3700 and put out close to 400 horses (RWHP be damned). Any new musclecar today coming close to 400HP is gonna run you what...$40,000 after TTL, interest, etc. I'm pretty sure the average schmo back in 69 could afford a nice, fast musclecar back in the day. Those old hi-po Dodges, Stangs, and Cammy's weren't just for the well-to-do-folk (disregard the ZL-1's, BM's, HEMI Darts, and your AC Cobras).
What I'm saying is nowadays the average joe can't afford a factory musclecar so they build it themselves. Judging by the cars on this board, most of you could whip a $175,000 exotic for about 3/4 of the price you put into your rides. I like the idea of building something that's over 35 years old with your 2 bare hands and then proceed to kick the crap out of 98% of what comes off the assembly line...worldwide. Love the new Vette, but gimme an old 68 Stingray any day. Wait a minute...Barret-Jackson has'nt priced those out of my range too have they? Ya'll be cool. |
Corvette Ss
