Dead car finally back from interior shop
The story of this car till the end has been the same. "Oh, I can have that for you in 2 weeks." Well it only ran 5 weeks over that original time frame.
I picked it up yesterday. I wanted an interior that was not too street rod-ish, but not stock either. I told the interior guy what I wanted, not even a sketch was drawn, and told him to do his thing. He hit the look I was going for as I am very pleased. I was very nervous going to pick it up, because I had no idea what it was going to look like. Good thing I liked it. Scott will post up a few pics. I don't know how to re-size |
I'm excited to see the outcome. Your camaro is one of my favorites.

I think I figured it out
One of your favorites? That means a lot to me from the spectacular stuff coming from your shop.
|
I'd say nailing it is an understatement. Your interior looks awsome!
I'd like mine in white with houndstooth please! Are those Arzien seats? How do you like? Why not the stock console? Very nice |
Looks good....I love the yellow! :unibrow:

I am going to claim this idea because I have so few
originals and I normally like to steal them.
The stolen part: I mounted a 5 1/4 speaker in the cowl area. Made a cover plate and mounted the speaker. Stole Steilow's idea about using a salad bowl as an enclosure behind it, except mine was plastic and I used silicon to seal it. Mine: I got non-air 69 kick panels and cut the area that protruded into the cowl off flush with the panel. That way the speaker plays through the stock 69 vent grill. Where the vent controls are molded in on the panel towards the door, I cut the center part out and mounted my tweeters there and the cross overs in the area behind it in the body. I am running vintage air, so I have no need for the cowl vents. Just an idea for hidded speakers if you have to have tunes...and I have to have tunes The only speakers seen in my car are the tweeters. I have 5 1/4 seperates, two 4 inchers in the center dash, 6x9 in the rear deck mounted from underneath with a preforated cover and one 10 inch sub firing through the back seat. |
Looks really good Payton! Best door panels i have ever seen.

Looks VERY nice Payton... now take it out and BEAT ON IT!!! :)

But dosnt the VA take its fresh air from passenger side cowl vent ? |
The tunnel in my car is raised about 4 inches
and I am running a T56, so the shifer is too far back. I could not think of a way to make the stock one work with the center hand brake either.
Yes, those are Arizen seats and I feel are a great seat for the money and the lowest seat height I could find. |
Looking good Payton. I like the console and shifter boot area. Nice car. See you at SEMA.
|
Thanks guys!
I am pretty excited about right now!
Stuart looking forward to seeing you as well. Kevin, I will be up in your area next week. Taking it to Nick Williams shop to run it on the dyno. I will try and stop by your work on the way. I am not sure about other Vintage Air units, but I have Gen II super cooler and it recycles cabin air. They even give you a plastic cover plate to block off the cowl vent on the passenger side. |
Very nice! I am planning the same set up on the dash insert. Console area turned out nice. Can't wait to get to your point in my build.
|
It's obvious why you are happy with it! They did a great job. Really fits the whole car. Nice to see a plan finally come together the way you wanted, huh? Nice job Payton.

Great interior Payton!
Very nice to see an interior not looking like itīs taken straight out of a 90īs pro-street car with flames and bowties all over.... Alex |
It pulled off damn well to say the least. I envy you guys with hard tops that can run: recaro's,cobras, corbeaus, etc .
I have to just run low back buckets with 5 points so I dont look like a idiot. |
Looks Great Payton!!
|
I love it Payton, looks very clean and like it belongs in a 69 Camaro.

I'm pissed it's not going to SEAM.. I really wanted to see it.

yea man.. its all about that SEAM this year. |
The interior and whole car look pretty sick Payton. Nice job
|
Thanks!
I put about 100 miles on the car so far. Most of it was Sunday and yesterday. Took a friend for a ride...my car is quicker than I thought it was going to be. I only did a short burst to 6000 rpm, granny shifted to second, and stepped on it. Had to pedal it to get second to hook....woot!
I have 3 things left to do on the car: charge the air, put on the front bumper and glove box door. And to think it only took me 6 years to finish this car. Athough my car is not going to SEMA, I am....and looking to have a few beers with my friends here. |
