69 Mustang Conv. G-Machine FINISHED Pics !

Now that SEMA is over, we headed back home and debuted Dan McDonalds 1969 Mustang Conv. at the Fun Fords Weekend in Englishtown NJ.
The car showed very well. Fortunetly we parked next to a bone stock (very nicely restored I may add) 69 Conv. Crowds gathered after they noticed all the body mods thatmade this so unique. All in all we had a great time and it is was a great place to show a "Ford" for the first time. I was very proud of my guys for a great job on our first "Ford".

wiedemab 11-06-2007 09:06 AM

Awesome Car!

I may have missed it, but what are the specs on the car. It looks like a blown windsor motor w/ auto? What suspension setup did you used front and rear?

Again - Looks Sweet!

HRBS 11-06-2007 09:29 AM

Here is a link to the intro and build:
https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=7022

The drivetrain is 93 Cobra 5.0 EFI with a Paxton SC, AOD trans and 94 Cobra 8.8 Rear. Air Ride Shockwaves up front and Shockwaves and Mono leaf in the rear.

RussMS 11-07-2007 05:37 PM

Steve that is one fine looking car! I have enjoyed watching the buildup and hope to see it one day in person. Thanks for the pics

andrewmp6 11-08-2007 10:43 PM

Looks even better finshed good job.

Ummgawa 11-09-2007 05:34 AM

That car is just awesome. Your rear quarter treatment changes the looks of that car for the better in a huge way. Ford missed what you fixed. Thumbs way way up.

XcYZ 11-09-2007 10:28 AM

Beautiful ride. I'm guessing the owner is more than happy with it!

BallnRods 11-09-2007 10:49 AM

3rd Vert. this week on this site that made me a believer.

During the show last weekend, the owner talked about me building car #3.
So I guess hes more than happy
(and so am I)

andrewmp6 11-12-2007 04:14 PM

Whats the 3rd car gonna be anything odd.

DHARROD 11-12-2007 04:36 PM

You did a classy job - I like how it is 'clean' and not over the top. It looks like pure "MUSCLE"

comp-spec 11-12-2007 04:36 PM

NOT A TA 11-12-2007 09:07 PM

Thanks Pete.... Nemisis's paint was OUTSTANDING !
Cant believe that was a "rush" job.

Lenie 11-13-2007 02:36 PM

Very very nice.

HRBS 11-13-2007 03:03 PM

Lenie... I sent a color sample to Classic Instruments. They color matched a set of their "Silver Series" gauges and custom made the 5" tach and Speedo because that series only comes in 3-3/8". Very nice company to work with.

BallnRods 11-14-2007 11:31 AM

Steve,
I can't get enough of this car!

Can you please post a side profile shot of her?

I found a thread on another Mustang site with a pic of this car @ a car show so, I couldn't resist posting some of the pics off this thread, I hope you don't mind.

HRBS 11-14-2007 12:36 PM

I'll post a profile shot tonight.
I dont mind you posting pics at all.
PM me the mustang site link.
thanks

HRBS 11-14-2007 03:10 PM

Chris... heres a profile shot.
It had a flat and I was trying to hurry and take a pick before it lost all the air LOL.
I checked out the stang site.
Thanks for the kind words !

BallnRods 11-14-2007 03:27 PM

No problem, thank you for the side profile!

Are you touring this car next year?
If so, will you be hitting any big shows in or near Texas?
I’d love to see it in person.

HRBS 11-14-2007 03:53 PM

The owner really enjoys driving his cars.
Funny how he really isnt into showing them.
I basically loaded the car myself and told him I was bringing it there so he should come and see it. LOL.
I will probably beg him to take it to Columbus and I'll wind up trailering it there along with 2 other cars we are bringing.
So to answer your question, no. Ohio will be the one and only stop next year for this car. It'll probably have 8,000 miles on it and be ready for a new paint job and thorough cleaning by then.

EBMC 11-16-2007 07:39 AM

This has always been on the "cars I want to build someday" list in my head! you did a great job. hope the owner drives the hell out of it!

HRBS 09-10-2008 12:16 PM

I had to do some digging to resurrect this thread !
Well... the mustang is back for a rear suspension upgrade.
Originally we built this car with a cool ride type bag set-up with mono-leaf springs for budget reasons.
With the Pocono Good Guys show coming up in a few weeks, and the idea of us thrashing the stang on the Autocross there, we decided to completely rebuild the rear suspension.
We are building a Rear 4-Link for maximum performance and adjustability. The build will include adjustable upper and lower links, upper chassis mount for a panhard bar and modifications to the existing sub frame connectors (where mounts weld to the frame rails). We'll clean up the exist. 8.8 rear by shaving the perch mounts and exist brackets and reuse it along with the existing cool ride bag set-up after modifications.

I should have detailed pics up by the weekend.

HRBS 09-14-2008 04:43 PM

Not much in the way of pics... I'll have it on the ground tomorrow.
Had to come up with a new panhard bracket due to interference with the bag set-up and external fuel pump location.
Ideal would have been a diagnal link rather than the panhard but the exhaust was an issue.
So.....
