I'm running the Varishocks on my 68 Firebird, however it is still in the build-up phase and I haven't driven the car yet. They are definitely a top-notch product and seem to adjust very easily. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

hi,
thanks for your reply. when you ready, please post your pics:thumbsup: |
i thought you ordered a set from marcus... lets see your pics..:D
and while your at it... please post more info on the bmw dash swap.. are you running the bmw heater too?? |
yeep. when i do my setup, i will post the complete story.
my camino becomes a complete new suspension setup, new exhaust, engine modifications and new paint. the winter is not long enough yes, when iīm bought 1997 the Camino, the car have no heater, the previus owner remove all the stuff. here some old pics, sorry for the bad quality. here is a pic from the bmw heater installation http://www.chevy-elcamino.com/elcami...me_402x287.jpg and here the original bmw gauges removed and the autometer in the dash http://www.chevy-elcamino.com/elcami...sh_393x215.jpg http://www.chevy-elcamino.com/Elcamino_Dash2.jpg the dash is not the problem, the most work and modifications i have with the lower center console. the original bmw console is to low and to small, some homemade work. http://www.chevy-elcamino.com/2006-05-14_05.jpg on this pic on the left side, behind the black plate with the decals is the heater assembly, needs just a small place http://www.chevy-elcamino.com/2006-05-14_11.jpg |
OK, you asked for it......
1st, I would strongly recommend that you consider some alternatives to the Spohn lowers. I bought mine from Marcus and had several issues;
Let me also mention that my lowers were originally for standard coil springs and shocks, but I was told they would work fine since there is verly litle difference between them and the coil over design. Here are some pictures; http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...P1010001-1.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...P1010003-1.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...sc/exhaust.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h1...isc/clutch.jpg |
thanks for your detailed and clear statement:thumbsup:
i will buy the a-arms they direct for coil overs and hope they fits better than yours. |
Hey John, the Monte looks GREAT! Thanks to guys like you Spohn has made a lot of changes and tweaks in the arms. They even make a dedicated Varishock lower for us that`ll work with packages other than your G-5. I`d still like to see a bumpstop on them so folks don`t have to mount one to the frame but that`s about my only issue with them and that`s not a huge one because it`s easily fixed. We do have the new SPC lower arms coming out in the next week or two though. They`re a real step ahead of every other lower arm on the market with improved geometry (we`ve even compensated for centering the wheels in the wheel wells with increased + caster settings),GM bumpstops (ZQ8 are a 2min. bolt in), greasable delrin bushings std.,and they accept either std. coil springs (with laser cut shims to adj. ride height up to +.75" or -.75"!) or coil overs. We`ve been working with SPC on them for almost 2 years now! We brought the cost in at just $514pr. too. :D They`re going to be THE choice in lower arms. The Spohns will remain a really good (now) budget alternative though.
Klause, awesome BMW dash swap! The small heater box would make things so much nicer on big block cars too. What year/model BMW is it out of? Mark SC&C |
hi mark,
the dash comes from a 1985 BMW 535i, the modell name is E28 the series exist from 1982-1987 http://www.chooseyouritem.com/autos/...000/161195.jpg |

OK mark, I'm always in for better but... What are my lowers worth on trade in? I've invested so much already that I would really need some more incentive to change the lowers again. I'll even send you the plans on modifying Alston's junk adjuster tool so that it will actually work on a G body. |
marcus you %&#"#!!! now youve gone and ruined my cristmas... guess what ill be needing soon?
oh well, il buy the lower controll arms when i can see a picture of them on your homepage.... :D :D ;) did you get the box shipped btw? |
order is done:D
