Who needs a Hot Rod!
Check this out. This is my 2004 GMC 4x4 Extended cab. 5.3 pulling a trailer loaded with parts for the 68.
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...n/DSC01702.jpg Before someone tells me how stupid I am, check the tach. I was doing about 35mph, looked down at the speedo and about sh**. Turns out when I shut the truck off it only drops to about 90. Guess it is time to hit the dealership. Gotta love the extended warranty. I don't know, I thought it was a cool pic. |
I looked at the pic before I read your description and I was like WTH... lol
|
Man I was about to get on the soap box...but yes it is a cool pic!!
|
We need more pictures of pegged out speedo's

Here is a good one. I cannot take credit for this and will only say that it is somebody I know who has a similiar car to my 96 Camaro:
:wow: |
It would take some real stones to take a picture doing 120 plus pulling a trailer!!! LOL

Thanks for the new background |
Wow you know what weird is that my 2004 Chevy Avalanche with 54,000 miles, Did the same thing like 3 weeks ago now its all the way back to 0 and doesn't move.
Last week though I got a letter from GM stating this problem and that you should take it to the dealer to get fixed and that they will add another 7 year warranty to the instrument cluster. |
Could'a fooled me
I would have guessed you had some crazy low geared OD. J/K Nice pic ! |
Here's a picture of a fully functional speedometer on my Daily Driver:

The rear end lockers are all noisy....and the Dealership should be able to look up the status of the recall on the instrumentation. My letter of recall was written 7/18/07. I'm buying a Tundra next time. |

I'm really pleased with it. I wouldn't buy a tundra after seeing this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zShwG9l1F0Q |

Those of you that know me know that I mean no disrespect to GM. I am a die-hard GM guy. I have just not had good luck. My first '03 that I bought was a total pile and the dealership bought it back. Although I love the second GMC that I got in '03, it has been through:
(3)-6 disc changers (1 inoperable, 2 with burnt out LED's) (7, or 8) times regarding the steering hsaft (1) water pump (1) window regulator bolts loose (1) reprogram t-case per bullitin 03-04-21-005 (1)Warranty alignment Plus several other little rattle/squeaks. It's hard not to be a little upset. I have had work done on this truck EVERY 3000 miles (or every oil change). It now has 35,500 miles on it, and not 1 door ding. |
All I can say is wow. This site never stops amazing me. I post a meaningless cool pic and now i have information to get a bunch of other stuff fixed. Scott, I'll bet you never imagined what you would have created when you started this site.:hail: Thanks!

I almost got jealous,my silverado is governed at 98...

Absolutely NO problem! That is what I love about this site. Things start one way and you never know where it can go. I really appreciate all the info on the truck. It will definately help the conversation with the service writer. I'm sure it will all get taken care of. I'll try to post the results of the service visit. :lateral: |

I guess you would know if it was possible on the road--I happened to see a sweet 2006 300C SRT 8 here--http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2584316290011691741kIVcJG

Later, |
No offense taken....like I said, the owner will remain nameless. :_paranoid
The car has an intake mod and fan controller, corsa exhaust. but that same top speed is attainable by any stock SRT8...The published max is 168 but a few more MPH can be had before the ECM says "no more". |
