Pictures of New Kinsler LS7 L92 C5R intake finished today

We just finished this today. What do you all think?

We had it on the DYNO at Katech (they did a great job. They are a talented group with the best technology around).

We were up 58 torque and 55 hp.
Torque peak 616 at 5197RPM 528 at 3193RPM.
HP Peak 696 at 6398RPM. 504 at 4389RPM and 662 at 7000RPM.

Numbers are on a 427 LS7 with big cam, headers, dry sump. Comparison is stock ls7 intake with UMI 90 mm throttle body vs. our cross ram.

That is a work of art! Beautiful piece! I'm also curious about what you will do about filters? Maybe something similar to what i've seen on some Weber carburated applications?

XTRMEASURES 12-01-2007 10:53 AM

that is awesome looking:hail:

do yo have something like that for a 400sbc and how much?

jonny51 12-01-2007 01:06 PM

Is the linkage going to be available in black or other colors?

J2SpeedandCustom 12-01-2007 01:30 PM

DAMN!!! :wow:

XcYZ 12-01-2007 02:27 PM

Fantastic. That's exactly what I need on my LS7.

Thanks for posting the pics, we'll be talking more.

68protouring454 12-01-2007 02:56 PM

how does one balance the butterflys? or does it come completely calibrated and all the end user needs to do is tune the motor?
how much?

jeff hanson 12-01-2007 10:52 PM

  Daddy like! My car is begging for that!

h_leadfoot 12-02-2007 02:53 AM

Oh My God. Think I just blew it in my pants...
And by the way. That would look awsome on my LS3...

Bowtieracing 12-02-2007 10:40 AM

Good looking intake!!! Really liked to see dyno results vs stock LS7 manifold.

Kinsler 12-22-2007 01:08 PM

Just added dyno numbers to the first post.

==========================================

How much will it be?

Will it work with Turbo Charging?

Will it fit under a stock 2 inch cowl hood?

Thanks,

Ty

Ty,no matter how much you dig the looks-you dont needit with forced induction.

tyoneal 12-23-2007 12:04 PM

True!

Hell I don't need most of the stuff I buy.

How much is it?

Ty,

Give Kinsler a shout for a quote - there are some options that you may or mey not require - ECU and baseline tuning for instance.

The manifold is ~8.5" tall measured from the blocks register/china wall to top of the casting so it fits with room to spare.

With those kind of power numbers, your probably right.

But really now, that thing is just beautiful to look at if nothing elsi.

hey now an AWD Nova - why didn't i think of that.

PS - Great looking piece - Makes me want to scrap the BB idea.

ironworks 12-25-2007 10:39 PM

Hay don't be trying to take some of my ideas, I have been thinking about this for awhile and I think I could do it. Could you imagine that manifold on an LS7 with Full independent suspension. In a 63 nova. I'm not sure I could do a 5" ride height though, the 63 we are doing currently is hard enough.

Kenny, I think rodger meant it would have to be higher than 5" in ride height.....he really has been talking to marty to much....LOL:yes:

ironworks 12-28-2007 02:58 PM

Nope, California has paved roads so we can have a low ride height. 5 in max height.

Datsbad 02-27-2008 11:42 AM

Does anyone know how much this might be ?

comp-spec 02-27-2008 12:15 PM

Jason I think I seen it was about 7K

XcYZ 02-27-2008 01:00 PM

Yep, it's in that neighborhood. James said they looking into different airbox/filtration options for it. I'd LOVE to have one, but there's no way I could afford it, a project that I'm involved with will be getting one.

They did the dyno testing at Katech and the hp gains are siginificant.

the intake looks great, wondering if there's different trumpet lengths for different cam/compression combinations?

A Nice looking, functional, Cross Flow EFI System would be terrific under the hoods of many of our cars.

Think what this would look like under a 1963 Grand Sport Corvette Hood. Give me the looks of the Cross flow system with Webers, with the performance, and convenience of EFI.

That would be a winner.

I am on board. That would be exactly what I would buy. I would rather have the Aluminum Horns just for the retro look and the cost savings, plus air cleaners would fit on them.

Who will be the first company to offer that to us??

Ty

Payton King 11-04-2010 11:10 AM

the horns are carbon

I am sure you can have someone make them out of aluminum, but it would probably cost more in fab time than just staying with the carbon ones.

Kinsler has a mesh and foam cover that goes over each to work as a filter.

You can always build air boxes like on "The Mule" or on "Fuel" (G-Force Designs)

Fuel used a Harrop intake from AU. I looked into thoes and it was about half the cost of the Kinsler set-up. Not sure if Harrop makes one for an LS7.

The individual runner intakes make great power, but I heard they are tough to get the tune correct and part throttle driving is not fun. Granted, all of the driving and tuning info is second hand as I have no expierence with either intake. They do look killer though!

Not to argue -- but that simply isn't true. Throttle response on these and similar systems is the fastest and most responsive of anything you will ever drive. The tuning is a "who's doing it" and was the motor (cam etc) built for EFI drivability etc. Get too wild and anything goes south with "part throttle" -- build it for it's intended use and you have a super fun machine.

I wonder if what he really meant was that part throttle driving can be too much fun...? :burnout:

Steve1968LS2 11-07-2010 04:34 PM

Man, I would love to dyno test that on my new 461.. wow..

Awesome looking setup and great performing too. Sweet.
