Can't stand it any longer, have to tell you guys whats's coming home tomorrow!!
'73 Trans Am 455 SD, auto and a/c. This is a #s matching car. The owner had put headers on, aftermarket intake& carb, Hurst dual gate shifter, but still has all the original parts that came off of it, including a real nice build sheet. I have known this car since '82 and have been after this car for 15 years. It has 66k original miles and all original panels. Last Friday the owner called me and said he needed to sell it to pay some bills off. It's been sitting in this garage for the past 12 years. I went over and looked at it and we made a deal today. This will not be a Pro-tour build. I plan on restoring it back to factory original. I do have to lower it just a little because they sat so high from the factory.:D I won't be able to sleep tonight until it's with me tomorrow. This is my dream Trans Am.. I will post some pictures up after I pick it up.

Looks like a little elbow grease and that things going to be mint
don't tell the current owner though  |
Oh crap just realized who's thread I was replying to. I don't know you SW, but I know your initials and your cars well. The pix spread far and wide. Great taste man
|
nice one love those cars
|
That is once in a lifetime right there! All the original parts, build sheets, panels! Not that many miles! WOW
Thats rough the owner had to part with it because of bills, but by the looks of it, I am sure you will be taking much better care of it. Any future plans to take it on a road course with the Z06 and Miata? Maybe before you turn it mint condition again? Congrats! Tim |
Nice score,Im jealous.

Wow...Congrats...Here is my twin.

Nice find  And it is also a special feeling when you have been after it for so long. I understand your sleepless night.
Over here those cars were called "Pizzaracers", in the seventies all the pizzeria owners had one. That led to that nobody else wanted them at that time. The pizzeria owners quickly learned that it was no good idea to show of like that. Since they made a lot of black money it was easy for the authorities to track them down through the cars. And that made it even worse to have one TransAm for those that was working honestly  Time has changed and it is no problem to own a "Pizzaracer" here today, even if the nickname lives on... BTW, it looks like it just need a good cleaning and polishing. Jan |
Nice score, and have fun with it.

An all original 455 with low miles, what a score! I've always liked the second-gens, and now they are more popular than ever. My 80 TA below...

SW,
Great find. Keep it stock :) Not sure you should ever attempt to top that nasty red '73 PT TA anyway. Wishing you and your family the best during holidays. Brad |
SW-
Sweet... Patience is a virtue, but heck, 15 years is forever. Nice car. That is a ride you will want to keep factory pristine. Congrats buddy. |
Awesome find. Keep us posted.

Can't wait to see her after the SW treatment!

Thanks everyone, I slept about 3 hours last night. My wife was laughing at me this morning when she asked me if I got any sleep last night. I woke up thinking, maybe I should put a 5 speed in it, mini tub ect., but I think keeping it stock is the plan. I found some honeycomb wheels for it last night. I'm thinking of doing some subtle changes to it like having the wheels widened slightly, extrude honing the heads, intake and exhaust manifolds ect. I think the hardest decision is leaving the automatic in it, most of all my cars are sticks. I will post up pics later today.
Charley, I have seen your car on the Yenko site, it's beautiful. Brad, you will always have the baddest T/A around..;) SW |
I hate you! lol
But it's in a jealous "wish I were you way"... I so love that body style.. very nice find! What did the car, in that condition, set you back? I imagine that given its rarity that it was kinda pricy. Can't wait to see it done, going to sell your other one? |
Set it up as if you were going F.A.S.T racing, all the subtle stuff done internally. I hear SD performance in Canada is the place of Pontiac Head work etc., although Butler etc. has a good rep as well.
I wouldn't change the tranny on such a rare car. Struggling with it on my Judge now but ended up with a gear vendors. How about a gear vendors for the auto ? Brad |

Us Pontiac dudes say, "Schweeet!!"
73 SD is my personal favorite also. |
The 1973 Trans Am 455 Super Duty. Often hailed as the last Muscle Car. A great find indeed.
Barrett Jackson would eat this one alive. Congrats SW. |
