Dropped the engine in today
Dropped the engine in today. Found out that my re-located A/C compressor interferes with the sway bar. Didn't have the bar when I mocked up the accessories. I have way too much time in fabbing the brackets so I'm going to have to find another option for the sway bar.

sorry to hear the bad news..im sure your buiilding skills will bring a solution.. car looks really cool even in primer, :hail: with your motor ..keep posting the pics .....ya know we love seeing your ride come together .. radrambler |
That is mean looking! Is the firewall going black or silver? How about using a splined sway bar or mounting it rearward? I think the Year 1 Camaro has it in backwards due to the R&P. Don't know if it works or not that way.

Looks fantastic, Jody.
That intake is killing me. :unibrow: |

You need one Scott! |

I'm hoping for a similar solution Mike, thanks! The firewall is going to be silver as well as the bottom of the car. The inner fenders are eggshell black. Jody |
Definately get a splined swaybar, scoot it forward or back a bit to clear the A/C, then buy the appropriate ends for it. Added bonus: it'll look really cool and be easily tunable.
I need to come up there soon and check things out again... |

Phil Brewer has a rear mount sway bar kit for your Hotchkis sway bar. I have a Moroso Pan and it clears it by the width of 2 sheets of paper in the back. BUT, it fits. www.BRPHOTRODS.com if it helps. Awesome car and progress by the way. |
All I can say is....  :hail:
|
I ended up talking to David at Hellwig and he can custom make one that will clear. I'm going to try his standard bar first as it may work, but if not I'll have them build me one. Super people, and thanks to Tyler for a thread I found saying they build custom bars.
Jody |
They ARE good people. I have their sway bars on the front and back of my car. Good product for the money.
|
Holy Guacamole, Jody! Looking great! Keep us posted all the time. I'm eager to see that beast come together!

Yeah, when you mentioned that you worked for them it really brought back some good memories of the very beginnings of the old days from that first set of black-jack headers that fit like crap! lol..or that first cam swap.I miss the open easy going shops of yesterday. It was nice too hear that you had worked there a small world as they say.For me your one of the guys that i look up too, from the early super days too the exceptional work your doing today on your projects your a inspiration in this hobby. It has been there moving on..showing fresh ideas..showing a different approach to building and quality at no compromise. Look forward to more.. :hail: -Jim Thanks Jody! -Jim |

Jody,
If you don't mind me asking and if you haven't stated it yet, where did you get the head to turbo pipes (can't tell if it's a header or manifold setup from the pics here)? Thanks, Kel |
Quote:
Those are manifolds from Banks Turbo. Fit perfect, support over 1000 HP, and make routing the exhaust out of the car much easier. Jody |
Kel, I'm using the same manifolds. Here's a pic I took of one of the manifolds, spacer blocks and turbine housings after I had them hi-temp coated.

So Banks will sell the manifolds only (and not having to be a part of their whole kit)? I had heard they wouldn 't do this. How would one go about purchasing a set? Could one of you give me a ballpark price as well? Thanks Again! Kel |
Jason will sell you the manifolds separate if you want. The pricing is up in the air, but consideration in pricing is given for Lateral-g members. I know Jason (slow4dr here on the Forums) will be reading this, so if you call him tomorrow and get a price, he should know exactly who you are. :)

Jason is great to deal with. I bought the manifolds, heat shields, and a couple misc pieces from, took care of me no problem. Make sure to tell him where you saw the info! Jody |

I sent Jason an e-mail. Hopefully he will e-mail me back tomorrow. Kel  |
