I built one for my car, and just sold it. It's not hard if you have the tools. I can give you dimensions if you need them.

I to built my own.when I went to buy thr steel, I found the place sold cut offs that were left over from other peoples orders.I bought all the steel including the 4 inflated tires for 200 dollars.found the tires at harbor freight.mine wasnt real elaborate but I was able to flip car completely over and the inflatable tire allowed me to roll the whole thing out in the yard.

Don't know if this will help, I was debating purchase or build and came across this model, if any thing might help with build plans.

seems well thought out.

I built mine out of some 2.5" pipe.

I added grease certs to the swiveling area on mine and it works well. Use good heavy locking casters.

My photobucket page has some pictures

Chris, these plans came from me, correct? If so it works great! I got the plans from John Parsons and it really helped with my car!!

rubadub 01-14-2008 12:38 PM

Heres one for a 69 chevelle, it might give you some ideas, with the double cross bar on the bottom it gives you more clearance on top, helps keep it away from the garage door opener etc.

Yeah, Tony, these were from you. Still in the process of building as I can't seem to get too much free time here lately.

Tony, you still have those plans, if so could i get a copy. Getting ready to take my car apart again and a rotisserie would definately make things easier. Thanks, Josh

Here's some pics of the rotisserie I built for my 68 Acadian (Nova).

I used 2 1/2" square tubing for the main body. I used 3" for the piece attached to the bottle jack. I then used 2" for the cross bars that bolt up to the rotesserie and the car. I used 4" castors that were welded to the bottom. The four on the end are swivel with brakes. The two in the middle are stationary. I used gussets everywhere just to put my mind at ease.

2" tubing. These were both cut to be the same length.

Bottle jacks that I used

Damn that's killer

What is the minimum ceiling height ... I have fairly low ceilings in my garage and I want to make sure I will clear...

I may have to build a perimeter style frame so I can swing the body closer to the ground, but the bottle jack idea is great, never occured to me to do that....

I would like to get some more info from you on the spec's and parts used to build that.

Looks like we're both in BC, where did you source your parts??

I can take some more pics this weekend. I'm just heading to Kelowna right now so don't have time. Most of the steel I got from a local steel shop. I'm glad I did. I bought all the steel from them and then whenever I went back needing smaller pieces or flat pieces, they just gave me scrap for free. The bottle jacks are from Princess Auto. I got my grade 8 bolts elsewhere, but you could get all the bolts there too as they have a good selection of grade 8 stuff. Actually you could get the castors there too. Like I said, I'll try and get some more pics this weekend of what I did. As for the roof..I'll measure it. Oh yeah..I'm in Kamloops.

I'd be interested in plans as well. I was originally going to do a stand based upon a set of engine stands, although would love to see other ideas.

Loneman 10-02-2008 02:15 PM

another idea

I made mine with a couple of fold up hoist. I don't have any plans just the pics for ideas. I think it works out good. It all comes apart and I still have 2 working hoist.

awr68 10-02-2008 02:40 PM

Guy's here's a link to my photobucket that I uploaded the plans to.

Hope this helps!!

Rhino 10-02-2008 09:40 PM

Thanks Anthony.

As soon as I looked at the first picture, I remembered seeing it somewhere else.
Here's the same plans, but converted to a standard web page.

That's the web page I used...after jp sent me the same plans that he had scanned. The web page version turned out better when printed off! For some reason I thought that page was shut down?
