Guess the price

What do you think this car will sell for on Thursday at Barrett Jackson.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli..._LotNumber=745

here are more pictures of it.

http://www.affordableclassicsinc.com..._CAMARO_SS.htm

I think maybe mid $20s

The guy was asking $45k I didn't think it was worth it.

almcbri 01-16-2008 08:32 PM

My guess is 32.5K at B. Jackson

24-25K value.

Spiffav8 01-16-2008 09:15 PM

I'd say 35k at the auction.

Street value around 30k

cetchup 01-16-2008 09:23 PM

What'll it bring

No clue

No offense but show me a '69 Camaro RS/SS for $7500.. one that runs and drives and doesn't look like it was pulled out of a lake.

You show me a car like that for $7500 that I can buy and I will buy it and pay you $500 commision.

Steve1968LS2 01-16-2008 10:09 PM

Although, looking at the pics I would say he would be lucky to get $25k for it on the street.. maybe $30k at BJ. Some of the stuff on it looks pretty dated and the color is .. well.. interesting.

monza 01-16-2008 10:53 PM

Thinkin' some dude is going to love, "the baby blue blast from the past" and drop 40K.

mazspeed 01-16-2008 11:29 PM

I'm getting "OJ'ed" (killed) on the fantasy bidding.

Bulldog68 01-17-2008 12:45 AM

At least they could have cleaned up the underhood stuff a bit... looks like a mismatched, jumbled mess. Chrome, aluminum, paint, wires everywhere. Needs tidying up. Even the inner fenders and core support don't match the outer paint color.

Minus 5k.

72 RS/SS 01-17-2008 05:52 AM

I agree, 20-25K on the street is all she's worth around here but being a restored numbers matching car with the RS option & 4 spd will probably bring about 35K at BJ despite the engine compartment needing work. Heck, if the junk from Monster Garage was bringin' around 7-9K (and you can't even license those) then think what a decent 69 Camaro would bring.
And if I could get that car for 7500, I'll take 2 please!!

ccracin 01-17-2008 06:06 AM

I'd say 37,500 on Thurs. If it went on Sat. 47,500.

96z28ss 01-17-2008 09:00 PM

I can't believe it went for $39,000 I'm in shock they must of had the hood closed the whole time.

to me it needs to be totally stripped and start over.

monza 01-17-2008 09:08 PM

Did the buyer look like a collector of all things baby blue?

Van B 01-17-2008 09:21 PM

I am looking for the barf smilie. That should have never topped $20k. IMO.

deuce_454 01-18-2008 05:33 AM

what strikes me is all the BS that about no expense spared matching numbers.... i mean it is a rebuild of the engine that happened to be in the car... a crossram intake with edelbrock carbs and enough missmatched chrome stuff to get you wondering if he didnt rob a partsstore with the lights off...

but for that money hes the one to do the laughing.. i think its a shame that who ever bought the car got screwed ..

deuce32 01-18-2008 06:17 AM

WELL every one whom bids sees the car as long as they like in the field of cars , hoods dont have to be open on block that really is for viewers on tv , i think the mismatched stuff failed and not everybody wants baby blue ....alot of work to change color when there is anothe 100 camaros to choose from on the block .

96z28ss 01-31-2008 03:27 PM

UPDATE:

looks like the new owner is trying to sell the baby blue camaro on e-bay.
I don't thik he is going to make any money with this one.

I knew it was a candy coated TURD, but I got my mouth slapped for saying it.
How much will the next sucker pay? You bid yet S.R.?

Who's S.R.?

me?

Don't get upset just because I didn't agree with your $7,500 appraisal. I would buy those cars all day long at that price.

:)

Diognes56 02-06-2008 12:09 PM

The last 1st Gen that I saw for around $7,500 (running or not) around here looks like THIS . If I could buy that one for even $10K I would be all over it  .

I'm very critical when judging the quality of workmanship that's been performed on a car. This is what I see in the photos posted on this site.
The car is said to be number matching restored. Number match maybe.
restored not even close.
Underhood-medium blue paint in many wrong places. Wiper system gone.
inner fenderwell bolts missing both sides. Non original colors everywhere.
hacked up wiring & cheap chrome everywhere. hood not fit to close properly
Interior- console pieces missing. Hang on gauges. Blue overspray in door
jams on latches, lite switches and kick panel trim. Doorlock buttons gone.
Outside- Front bumper twisted and bolts missing. Motorcycle horns shining thru grill. Headlite doors tacky. big dent in right rear lower corner. Back
window trim hammered & loose. Back bumper is lumpy and wavy. 6 or 7
holes chiseled into upper trunkseal channel. Inside trunk is a mess. Blue &
spatter paint on latch. Blue wheel tubs. That's what I can see from 1500
miles away. The cost for me to do a quality restoration on every thing I've
pointed out would be 30,000.00$ minimum. If this is the kind of work You
Guys are willing to accept at todays Shop Rates,I'm working way too hard
to please. Sorry, that's the way I see it.You don't have to aggree.

I don't think anyone here thought the car was a concours restoration. The point was $7500 doesn't buy much anymore in a first gen, so even with all the flaws you pointed out that is a very low appraisal.
