I love my old cars and when I find a original untouched car or truck im always on the hunt, This is my new prize Man it is sweet!!! Showing 18250 miles Im sure its 118250 This is the original paint rubber is perfect dash is perfect seat is perfect under the horse blanket about the only option this thing has is paint. The only thing im going to do with it is paint the grille. and stick it in the garage.

Sweet find!! Do you have the front hub caps? What drive train is in it? You are smart not to 'over restore' it.

Nice 68. I just hate those rap around rear bumpers though. My 67 had one and that was the first mod I did, cut those extensions off. They are period correct though.

6cyl 3 on the tree I am missing the front hubcaps he said they were stolen off it I am bidding on some on ebay. I am going to leave the finish alone other than the grille paint detail under the hood A clifford intake and valve cover would be cool but probably leave it alone

What is the story behind how you discovered it? Was it pure luck, or hard work?

I spotted it this summer at the church by the shop on every nice sunday it was there, I had tried to find the owner with no luck, then it was gone, I thought some one had got it, Then yesterday I was driving down the road and it was sitting at the corner gas station, I spotted it and wanted to stop but my wife was having a gathering so decided I better not, as I looked in my rear view mirror A notorious orange and black sign cought my eye I hit the brakes so hard I thought I was going to go through the windshield, and I love my wife but... So the guy was in the station and shot me a price I said I really liked it and I need to think a min on it I called my bother, then the guy lowered the price by 500 SOLD!!

nice truck! 67-72 body styles are killer. I have an unrestored 67

It was a deal his original asking price was a steal, I called my brother to see who was going to own it 68's are a soft spot for us its what our grandfather drove, while I was on the phone he shouted 2500.00 I hung up... its in the garage... I have looked at it hard today took the kids for a drive I thought about doing some stuff but decided its made it 40 years and looks like this I will keep the patina, someone loved it to keep it this clean I will also till it rolls along....

Its rare to find stuff this clean unrestored and the price was under value, I think there are some decent trucks out there in the 5k range Im not sure on your area about rust, check the farm areas. Where my house is it use to be fruit and onions in the lower areas and hay This was a orchard owners private truck.

Good Eye! Its a Layton truck, The guy was at the Cheveron across from Smiths, Neat guy Im going to talk to him this week on getting the original plates back on it. Pisses me off this snow we got I wanted to drive it...:mad:

Yes I am in east layton, I pulled it in the shop gave it a tune up and broke out the buffer, I have been messing with this old junk for over 23 years, and I have never ever buffed a 40 year old paint job!! Time was running out so I still need to do the cab top, But she runs great and looks good, just enought patina to give it style!

That looks good. Do you use a high speed buffer or a dual action buffer? What compound did you use?

I use a high speed buffer and I constanly am rolling my thumb up and down the speed wheel depending where I am at. All I used was some 3-M machine glaze no wax yet but had to be careful she is thin.. That is the original 1968 paint job, but looks killer!! Pics do no even start to give it justice..

that truck looks great and the price is unreal, but i dont see the patina your talking about... lol that paint job looks great!

Very cool! I'm so glad you got it and not someone who is going to use it for a scrapping truck or some other harsh fate. I dig the green, and I bet the 6 don't run too bad, either. :thumbsup:
