I thought I had a chance at winning until the cars started rolling in today.. Chicane.. Strope Nova.. Storpe Torino.. Strope Challenger..

Man, there's some high end stuff in my class.. but I was still the only one that drove there.. lol

Oh, and my car isn't pro-touring by there standards.. it's "street touring".. I guess to be pro-touring you have to have a full chassis (like custom tube or Art Morrison deal)

I think I'm going to work with them on fixing this class.

Me: do you know that by your rules The Mule isn't a pro-touring car yet it's the poster-child for pro-touring?
Them: Uh, yea.. that is sorta strange.

lol

Anyways, Penny is shined up to represent our segment.. I will take lots of picture tomorrow.

Good luck Steve, Penny can hang with any of them!:lateral: :woot:

Steve.
Dave and I will be there on Friday. My 20 year old is going to be with us also, she goes to school down there. So just look for the 6'4" old dude with 5' nothing blond.
Jon I was hoping you and Jason would be there Friday, we may also go on Sat so may we'll see you then.

You should get a ton of extra points for being a driven car IMO !

Thanks for representing - we're in good hands ! :lateral:

Kevin,
We're maybe 30 minutes away. What times are you planning on being at the show? If Jason and I finish up business at the shop earlier enough to get away, we could meet up.

Steve I will see you tomorro and we talk more about this pro-touring thing rule they have screwed up at the show. I didnt really get into the details, I know the I was in the way of the judges when I was cleaning the torino.

I think it's just a lack of understanding of the hobby..

Have no ac/no heat.. no radio.. a cage, mini-tubs, trick suspension, huge brakes and yet I'm not "pro-touring" because I have don't have a full chassis (even though my front sub is connected to my rear frame)

That would mean the list of "pro-touring" cars would be very small. I'm in the same class as a (example) '69 Camaro with power everything, more of the show-touring deal that's more on the street rod side.

Maybe they need a pro-touring, street-touring, and street-fighter class.

Are there ANY pro-touring cars at the show? I don't think even Chycane even has a tube/aftermarket chassis..

It's thier first year for this class, they just need to iron out the details.

dont get bent out of shape over a $3.00 trophy . enjoy the show and remember the history of the GNRS.

no, no, no.. don't think I'm "bent" or upset.. I just found the definition funny considering what we all consider "pro-touring". Then again, in the car show world it may make prefect sense. I'm sure the goal was to keep the "average joe" from having to compete against the all out show car.

I went for three reasons.

Wilwood wanted me there by thier booth, Best Of Show wanted me there to promote thier shop, and it seemed like fun because I've never had a car in the GNRS.

COYBILT 01-26-2008 11:02 PM

Hey, I talked to one of the judges and got the scoop.
You should get copy of there rules on the pro touring builds. After looking at what the list showed it basically means your car with a tube chassis and some more along the lines of a full race interior. The judges happend to be a guy Ive met in northern california and he lives there he gave me the run down and from the only thing missing on bad penny is really a tube chassis.
