Which subframe is this?
So I'm always planning different things.... which subframe is this? It looks like DSE arms and their coil over system, but it doesn't look like their frame...

That is a Wayne Due frame, one of the last he built. It was to be used with stock type aftermarket arms. Scott was lucky to get one!

What a loss to the community with Wayne closing shop. Too bad he didn't sell to someone who would have carried on his work. |
Yeah, I was VERY tempted to get one after seeing Scott's...but waited just a little too long to pick up the phone and call Wayne...oh well!
Wayne really should get back in the game though!! |

If he's not using them, and will not be in the future, it might be a good "Business" venture for someone. Ty |
Just think what kind of pioneer late Art Rasmussen was. I think hes the one we can thank for crating camaro hi tech subframe business. It is a loss at he passed away and now Wayne has closed ( for a while??)
|
not sure if either was a pioneer, no one on this site would of wanted any of the early frames, they were in the same category as martz, etc.
|
Yep, Wayne Due. It was jigged off a stock subframe. So basically what you're looking at is a DSE Speed III/Coilover conversion kit with ATS's A-F-X spindles mounted on a fabricated frame.
After driving Stielow's Camaro X on most of last year's Power Tour, I have NO doubt that I'll be happy with it. Camaro X has the same DSE Speed III/Coilover conversion kit with Tyler's AFX spindles. That car was incredible to drive. Why would someone make a frame like that? It was to market to all the guys that already had tubular upper and lower control arms, big brakes for stock spindles, as well as wheels with backspacing and brake offset for a stock 1st Gen. The idea was that a person who had all that stuff could buy the bare frame, rack and sway bar from Wayne and bolt on all the rest of the stuff that they already owned. |

Well now Speedtech makes a similar frame, so you can still get the look!

Thanks Tyler
that is the design idea behind our sub frame, you can check it out at www.speedtech-performance.com oh and now we have confirmed that a LS motor will fit with Tylers Pan and motor mount adaptors |
Well, I thought it was a great idea. ;) I thought I read that AME owned the rights to Art/Wayne designed suspensions.
The thing I would consider over the speed tech frame is the front steer of the Wayne/stock based frame. It would not be too difficult to recreate. Sorry to thread jack but is what we need is more 62-67 Nova frames. |

Actually I was refering to AME's lack of one...side joke/poke. I've been bugging them since Wayne moved on. However, I think we do need something of this sort. A frame designed to run better than the other 8-10 frames. Most others are builder specific parts. IE, arms spindles and funky shock configurations. The only frame out there that I would consider is the Chris Alston version. I've built with the Heidts in the past and was never happy with the handling. I am putting it out there. I'd like to see a frame for a 62-67 Nova that uses 1st generation Camaro suspension components and actually improves geometry, wheel placement and allows most popular engines without the need for custom headers or oil pans. oh and don't forget the front steer rack....:willy: |

To answer your thread jack, we are designing a 62-67 Nova front sub and should have something out later this year...... No pricing or ETA on product yet, but I will keep everybody posted. |

I'll keep you posted

Craig, is your Chevy 2 sub uses Corvette stuff, we need to talk about this. I might have just the little project for it. Could be good Embassy Suite cocktail hour conversation at HR&R, or just a excuse to drink!
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread! |

Hey Guys, Sorry to steer this whole thing back to the Wayne Due subframe but I'm having a problem I wonder if any of you have heard about or experienced with your Wayne Due Sub setup for the C5 suspension. the problem I'm having is that the sway bar ends are coming into contact with the Coils on the shocks (they are QA1 Coilovers) I have attached a picture to help with a visual. The Sway Bar, Shocks and frame came from Wayne as a unit not long before he closed up shop.

you can get lots of different size arms as well as cuting them and re drilling them and or re bending them to work how you need them to, just make sure each side is the same
|
Good info Jake...kinda a shame they didn't work right out of the crate though.

Thanks,
I will post some pics hopefully tomorrow as you suggested. For now, I found one I already had that might give you a better view. I'd rather not cut the pieces since I'm sure they are hardened and I might be creating more of a problem then relocating the sway bar mounts forward. I also tried flipping the sway bar over but the problem is still there. |
they sway bar arms are not hardened, i can bet a buck they were probably bent by wayne in the first place, , re bend and trim.

I have the same setup...You can run the "heavy duty adjustable end links" for C5 vettes which can adjust a little shorter than the stock (fixed length) C5 links (which is what you have).
They are available from several vette parts sources, here is one: http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com....html?item=868 |

i will assume you are asking about the LSx motor. We have used ATS's pan to fit and locate the motor, along with their motor mounts. we have not tested the stock pans. Tyler and i talked and he has witnessed some modified pan motors expire............. possibly due to oiling issues??? read into that what you want. |

find out what spline the sway bar is and how big, order some new steel arms, install, mark, bend, trim to length and drill hole, use a couple 1/2 inch rod ends and a sleeve, this way you can put the sway bar 1-2 inches forward rather then try to design after gm did as it just will not work
|
Wd
You have several options.
You can also take that link off and grind the edge off of that bar right to where the link seal contacts with an angle grinder. Move your bar forward a 1/2 inch. Change your upper coil over mount to move it outward for less angle. There where a few problems with the fabricated sway bar but most where fixed as installed. |
Thanks
Looks like I have quite a few options. I'll let you all know how it turns out. thanks once again for taking the time to help me out.
