New guy, Pro touring 73 mach 1
So I figured Id say hi. and show you guys my project. I restored this car when i was 15...did a pretty crappy job body and paint wise, but hey i was young then. Im 22 now and I own my own resto shop.
Any how body and paint will come next year but for now a twin turbo 408cleveland and some big brakes and suspension... I used to be a mild street car... then a twin turbo 351, with wrinkle walls... It sucked to hit any corners at all... now this incarnation will be protouring. I want to drive it tho, no trailer queern here. so deal with the crappy body and paint. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...87_37_full.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...87_39_full.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...5/FILE0127.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Picture005.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...5/FILE0114.jpg Obviosly its still a work in progress... |

Welcome mustang brother...that is sweet.

Looks great I don't trust the big spacer Vintage venom uses between the hub and rotor. Is that a mpg heads export brace/ monte carlo bar?
|
Actually I loved the idea of the spacer behind the disk rather then ontop of it. First of it looks better, secondly the splines on the stud extend into the space locking it onto the hub. I dont think there will be an issue with it. Posche 911 turbos ... mid 1980's also used a spacer that was around an inch think, maybe more to offset the wheels into the turbo flares. If they didnt have an issue with it Im willing to bet it works fine.
Yes that is an MPG shock tower/export brace Its really a nice peace and it made the car feel much better. |
Another mustang guy! That car is going to look badass. I love the way the rear tire is sitting in the wheel well. Is that calypso coral?
|
I just don't trust a spacer i have had a wheel spacer sheer my lugs off once driving a car on 3 wheels isn't much fun.I saw on mpg heads website they made one for the 71-73 but no pictures of it and they don't have a email addresse so i gave up on it.Heres a triangulated 4 link http://www.hdrcoupe.com/catalog/inde...oducts_id=1426 it says 64-72 but i don't see why it wouldn't fit a 73 or http://www.evolutionmsport.com/evmCa...products_id=49

Hey Mike,
I just found your car introduction; I was looking for it in the “Projects” section. I bought the same 13” Cobra brakes for the front of my Mustang but, I bought the “Mustang Steve” brackets. I can’t install them until I buy bigger wheels. I’m looking for some rear disc brakes for my car, where did you get yours & how much were they? I want to use smaller rear brakes so I can get an extra set of 15” wheels for the drag strip. Keep us posted on your progress! ~Chris |
The brake conversion was from Vintagevenom.com
It uses the stock o4 cobra rear brakes, 11.65 wich will fit a 15" wheel for your slicks. Their stuff has AMZING machine work, I think it was a much nicer setup then the mustang steve stuff. |
The only things different between the two is mustang steve doesn't change your offset the vintagevenom changes it so you can use the newer mustang rims with out a spacer.
