New Foose 69 Camaro?
I've already heard about the 69 Foose unvieled @ GoodGuys this last week, but did anyone get pics and or specs? I want to see this bad bitch.
Tyler |
That's what I'm wondering. Looked pretty mild from the pics I saw on Unique's website, but that's only the exterior. I'm sure it'll be amazine, as most of Foose's work is.

Anybody???
|
Sorry. Just a mental picture:
-Very subtle rocker extensions with Foose logo -Custom lower front spoiler -Custom RS grille treatment -Trick door handles that move the pushbutton up to the handle itself -No rear spoiler -295 rear tires and (what else) Foose Design wheels -The project is a collaboration with Year One, so it has the Y1 hood, although Joey at Unique says that they will probably redesign the hood. Foose was still scribling sketches on napkins even after the cars debut. -Seats and door panels have GT40 style influences with rows of shiny rings in the inserts. -The debut car has a 572 crate engine and six speed -Comes with that wacky, head scratcher cantilever rear suspension (Upper and lower links are both located below the rear axle.) -Prices will probably be north of 100K The Unique guys are out there, right now, buying up every last 69 Camaro in existence. They claim to roll out 6-10 Eleanor clones per month. |

You're such a tease :D ........ A small pic of the front clip, the back of foose and Kevin Kings head?
Anyone have any more? |
I dont know, from that one pictures...not a fan of the front grill or the hood and paint right there. Just my opinion and I may love it once I see the entire thing.
For those that saw it, did you like it?? Steve, you dont seem too excited about it from the explaination of it. Tim |
I am already not liking it. And from the sounds of it, I don't see it being a very balanced package. The 572 is rediculous, we already know the rear end sucks and waaay overpriced. The more I think about it, it kind of has the feel of a "Motion" Camaro. Ugly exteriors, BIG motors, garunteed performance, sticker shock, and probably collectible in 40 years.

I gotta agree with you guys that thing is fugly.Like most of the Foose stuff its crafted top knotch but a bit over the top for me.
I guess its more of a Rod thing. |
Would like to see some good pics but I must say I'm saddened that Unique is buying up all those cars.
|
Foose builds amazing hot rods, but there haven't been very many muscle cars that he's done that I've liked. It usually comes down to the wheel/tire choices and the stance. I think the Gambler 514 was ruined when they set it on those ugly over-sized wheels and didn't lower it more. Likewise with the Chevelle they did when the show first started. All of his work is absolutely top-notch, but when it comes to style, it doesn't always hit the mark. But that's with any designer or builder. I mean, the man has swept the past, what, 5 Ridler's?
Kris |
I have noticed this also, his street rods are always right on in design, stlye, perfection.....etc! But his muscle cars are usually a little off in my opinion, maybe he is ahead of the game who knows.......He is still chip foose though and is on top of the car building world right now pretty much..IMO
I kinda liked the grill, at least from what I could see of it! |
It is nice.. especially since it is not running a cowl hood or rear spoiler. They need to use the DSE wiper motor on the car rather than the stocker (on a car that expensive)..
I liked the rocker extensions.. I liked the lower front vallance. I was so-so on the graphics and I loved the color. Foose said he will still be tweaking it and changing the dash and hood. I have pics and will try to post them later. Steve |
They aren't just buying up every Mustang Fastback and 69 Camaro they are buying up Pontiac GTO's, Plymouth Cuda, they are also now started buying 70-72 camaro. They are going to ruin it for the small guy.

I agree. I doubt they sell enough per year to make an impact. But I guess anything is possible. |

I don't know guys, it's definitely not fugly. It is maybe a little over the top but that's Chip Foose. I didn't see it in person but a couple guys I work with have and they said they went nuts over it. Plus I like to see people try something different. There's a lot of Pro-Touring and even wanna-be Pro-Touring custom Camaros out there, getting tougher to create something unique, so you gotta try crazy ideas and Chip is good at that. here's a side view that shows the car better from the unique performance site.

looks ok so far.

Some how I missed this car at the GG Columbus show.

Keep it in the garage under an opaque tarp for 25 years and sell it for 500k as a rare collectors camaro...at that point no one cares about looks, only the rare car. Tim |
There are many other 69 camaros i'd rather have...Mule, ExtremeG, Alumin8tor, etc..etc...The car is nice, and i like that it's different, i just think it's not worth the money. I'll be going to Unique to try and see something in person and get some pics. I only live 11 miles away :)

Remember that this is NOT the final product.. they say it is 95% done and they will be changing some stuff.. Lead time to get one is 6 to 8 months.. that is a bit shorter than having a car custom built. I also heard there will be three levels, two small blocks and one 572 powered one. Can also be had with manual or auto trans. They will offer three color choices and if you want a custom color there will be an upcharge. |
I didn't stick around til Sat night to see that and we were on the road on Sunday.
These two super hot black camaros were the only ones I had seen outside if Unique along with a way wicked red one that was on popular hot rodding tv a while back for the feature on the Year One Bash. |
I dont doubt you can't get a hold of the mule or aluminator for 100K but for the price i think there are better camaros to be found and built...

My only gripe is the rear suspension. I can't figure out HOW it works let alone decide if it's worth a damn. As for the overall vehicle, remember that Unique tailored Foose's design for "semi-assembly line" production. So the 335's in the drawing became 295's, the ride height increased, etc. And the money? The cars will have aftermarket front and rear clips, full custom interiors, all new drivetrain, good brakes, etc. Will they be sold at premium plus? Sure, but the hardware still adds up. I'm sure Unique's target customer (not us) will think they are getting a deal. In the end, ya had to see it in person. |
Well the girlfriend and I went down to Unique yesterday and will return for pics of the camaro next tuesday (shop was shut down for the day and no pics without the peoples consent). Monday there are 3 magazine photoshoots of the car. In their shop there was atleast 10 GT500E's and 3-4 GT350SR's. They also had a 911 that was just parked (presidents car that he hasn't driven in years), a DB9 which the presidents wife got trading a car behind his back LOL, a 69 Shelby (original) 56 big window chevy pickup, a 69 "test mule" where they test all their new stuff, a shelby cobra (not sure if it's a kit or real, i think it's a kit, barret jackson jr's own 69 convertible camaro, and a 68 camaro with a chassis engineering front clip with a supercharged LS2, baer brakes, their "exotic" rear suspension, the works. It was alot of fun to go check out the stuff and talk with the owner. Definitly worth checking out. They also had a Foose designed 05 stang that is going to see a 3000 car production run and be sold in dealerships (looked bad ass). The camaro run is going to be kept limited production (I believe i heard 250 cars). Also pricing on the camaro starts at 139k, that's with a ZZ4 basic buildup. From there you can option it with a LS2 with an optional supercharger on that. For the even more extreme there is the car built like the one that was unveiled, 189k is what i heard and it's a 572 fuel injected 650hp motor. Colors wont all be orange and grey they're looking into other colors. I'm going to try and get them to consider marquez tail lights as it looks funny to see a car with all this custom work (that looks alot better in person but not my favorite first gen i've seen by far) then walk back and see these old style tail lights. I think the modern style lights would set that car off.
Anyway if there is anything else you guys want to know there is more i'm sure i'm forgetting. Also like i said no pics for now but hopefully next week if i can get off work and get there in time. William |

OUCH.....Crack smokers they are mmmm...
|
I have some decent pics of it that I will try to post this evening. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Foose and Unique, but their Camaro is a big yawn. I was expecting a lot more from them and was pretty disappointed in what I saw. I didn't see it in person, but the person who sent me the pics went over it very slowly and looked at everything. He said it was nicely done, but the car was far from impressive.
Kris |
My feelings exactly...Parts add up and they need to get their cut but 190k is a bit too much lol. Now i know this was discussed earlier but what would the mule bring? Is that more in the ballpark than 100k?
William |
Car
A close source said the car was rough, and they were shocked that Foose was involved with what they felt as way below his normal standards.
|
Better still, when my friend went up to Chip and asked him to see under the hood, they walked to the front of the car and they couldn't find the hood release. Turns out that unveiling was the first time he had even seen the completed car...
Again, what a bummer. Kris |

The lower front facia and lover rocker extensions were SWEET.. I don't know if I can ever get used to the car with no rear spoiler but it looked ok.. What it needs.. The complete Marquez billet set-up.. somebody from that company needs to contact Unique.. A DSE wiper motor to replace the crappy looking stock one.. hell, with the big block you can't even pull a valve cover without pulling the wiper motor.. Nicer firewall and inner fenders.. fill in the divits in the inner fenders and smooth the firewall better.. The parts on the car are very nice.. just needs more TLC on the install.. maybe they should hire me :) I didn't even realize that Ricks Hot Rods made a stainless tank for the car.. I didn't crawl under it. I look at that car and I look at my old 69.. my engine bay was nicer.. my paint was pretty close and my interior was about as nice if not a little better.. Fooses car had a nicer undercarriage and a more expensive motor.. My car $60k and his $120k... hmmmm Then again my car does not have the Name FOOSE attached to it.. and mine took almost 2 years. I used to think the Elenore cars were overpriced at $190k but since they sold out I guess I was wrong. Also, I heard the price will be close to $100k and not $200k... The Foose overhauling green Mustang failed to get a $75k bid on Ebay.. again.. hmmmmmmmmm |
im sorry... i dont care who's name is on it....its still a 69 camaro.... and NO 69 camaro is worth 200K..... unless the trunk is filled with gold...diamonds, or cash.
i think the mule is one of the nicest around.... and no way its worth that much......except maybe in barret jackson land |
