took my daily driver to the track today.

I've changed the exhaust and been doing some tuning on my own with it via Efi Live. Stock motor, stock turbo, no nitrous or propane, just #2 diesel. 12.75 @ 108.449 mph right off the street. Not bad for 7000 pounds. I need to lower the torsion bars and air in the tires to get it to leave harder. At the track it wheel hopped badly, whereas on the street it just launches. The sticky track is much harder to navigate. I left the front end up and 70 psi in the tires, so this is truly how the truck runs everyday. Still had 1.84 60's which isn't bad, but I know there's more. The mph shows it could run a low 12. At any rate, I'm more than happy as this truck get 15-16 mpg around town and 19-20 at 75 mph on the freeway, and scoots pretty good I'd say. ;) Jody |
lol i thought my 7500+ pound dually was fast at 14.75, nice truck, lol 12s thats mint, looks stock.
|
Very nice for just a bit of tuning and exhaust. Shows just how much is in those things. Think you could do the same for my Sentra? Yeah.... Didn't think so....

Did you end up going turbo back on your exhaust
|
That is awesome, Jody. Great looking truck, too!

Awesome truck Jody. I love mine. Impressive #'s.
|
That is very cool. I had no idea those could turn numbers like that in a big truck.
|
Damn, that's quick. Congrats, I love sleepers.

thanks guys. It was funny when I pulled up to the timeslip booth; the lady had a confused look on her face and didn't want to hand me the slip. She kept looking at the slip and back to the number on the windshield. Finally she just asked "did that truck run 12's?"........................ :wow: :D

Jody the car looks great, even better than the rendering! IMO
Also just spent an hour on you website and all I can say is WOW!!! You have got it BAD for sure. |

'ya think??!!!!! Yes, my wife would agree 100%. Thanks! Jody |

What year truck is it? What exhaust? Did you get rid of the brick? Did you shut off the sensors?
|

2007 LMM Duramax, crew cab 4X4. MBRP exhaust (no brick :) ) and custom tuning through EFI Live by me (with a couple nice start-up tunes from friends). |
that is unbelievable. i cant believe that truck ran a 12.75, and its mostly stock!
what are those things capable of with increases in boost pressure and other mods? |

Hey Jody, what were your EGT's at the fast end of the track? Any trans issues? Did you put a line pressure kit in the tranny?
Also, if a buddy of mind with a 2005 Duramax buys a license can we use your EFI Live? He's had 2 defective Edge boxes in a row and wants to go the EFI Live route. Remember, I said you'd like diesels... :) |

It hits 1450-1500 max which is somewhat high, but no way it'll do any damage in a 1/4 mile race, not enough time. I think my license allows me to tune two trucks, but I promised Brent Dupont he could be the second truck. If your friend gets a license you can use my tuner, no problem. And yes, you said I'd like it, and as usual you were right. You're a pretty smart guy.......... ;) Jody |
1400-1500F isn't high at all given the MPH... I'm impressed. I've seen trucks with programmers have EGT's that high and they only trap around 98-102 mph.
My buddy with the Dodge in the low 11's runs 1800-1900F at the strip... and sometimes 2000F when at the tractor pulls. :wow: I figured you had done something to the trans. The simple valve body mod / pressure kits usually will start throwing P07XX tranny codes at around the 140-150hp level and the converters aren't too far behind that. Who did you get the tranny from? (BD, Suncoast, etc?) or did you have it built locally? |
Quote:
Made a trip to Los Angeles for an Efi Live Diesel tuning class, and had the trans done while I was down there. Guy named Mike Lovrich (sp) at Inglewood Trans did a Suncoast SCIV trans kit in mine along with one of their new 1058 billet converters. Jody |
I really need to get me a truck like that!
Nice work Jody. |
You know you want to go 11.99. :D

thanks Jeff. |

When I can I set up an appt for my truck!! Don't need to run 12's though! Brent |
Damn you Jody. I have an identical truck, just black. Hmmm... I have the EFI live cable here too....
Now, the only thing I want to know is how much it cost for the tranny/converter updgrades. I know we can safely put another 100 rwhp through a stocker, so I may just stop there. Sure would be fun to run 12s in the tank though! Tony |

I saw that, I called you a "rookie" but you never came back to the thread on DieselPlace.:D With your connections you can probably beat this but the guy I took it to is well respected; $4600 for trans, billet 3-disc converter, installed including tax. Would be $300+ less for out-of-staters (no tax). |
Hey Jody, I was spectating and saw your truck. I did not believe it either. It did not have much sound or anything, total sleeper. If I would have known it was you I would have stopped by to say hi.
Oh well next time!! |

That is just plain sick. What track are you running at Jody?

Suncoast SCIV trans kit in mine along with one of their new 1058 billet converters.
Do you have any link(s) and part #'s for those items? I have a good tranny builder in Houston that says he can work on Allison 6-spds. |
That is crazy..
There is a guy that cruises our local hang out with a truck like yours and he is always looking for some action. The giveaway is that even when he is idleing thru the lot he is blowing thick black smoke:_paranoid Scott p.s. Never any takers as the guys I hang with don't race on the street:thumbsup: |

Search on Diesel Place for tons of info. Suncoast is here: http://www.suncoastconverters.com/ The 1058 is a new converter, I got like the second or third one. It's like a slingshot, really works well. Not slippy at all, drives pretty much like stock until you put your foot in it. Jody |

yeah, not a street racer either. I am not into the "smoke" deal, but many are. If it made no smoke at all it'd be perfect for me. Jody |
