Condolences to his family. I wonder what will happen to the company?
Who ever has a Boyd car I wonder if the value will go up.

DriverzInc 02-27-2008 10:52 AM

RIP, exactly as said before, love him or hate him, he did a lot for the hot rod industry. Look at how many of todays hot builders, designers, wheel manufacturers that all spawned from the Boyd camp.... Alan Budnik, Chip Foose, and countless others intertwined in the industry...

As said before - Like him or not he did do so much for this industry. He gave opportunity and jump started alot of careers for many leading people in this industry today. Some of his ways have been questioned in the past and other than making more $$ American Hotrod didn't do him any favors IMO, but I would never wish ill will on anybody. RIP Boyd and thoughts are with your family.

I just heard that we lost another pioneer in Hot Rodding last night. Lil" John Buttera passed away from a brain tumor. Some may of never heard of him but he was well known on the West Coast. Did alot of work with Boyd in his early days.

Wow Brent - had not heard that one either ! Lil' John was a hero of mine and I got to meet him in Indy a few times at the indy 500 - one salty dude - but with massive skills and talent. Huge loss !!

RECOVERY ROOM 02-27-2008 03:40 PM

Lil' John gave us the billet movement back in the early 80's.

ProdigyCustoms 02-27-2008 03:55 PM

We have lost a legend. Many got sucked into the TV persona and were not big fans. For me, I had huge respect for the cars he built / managed. Simply a hero car builder in my eyes. A lot of us have a lot to learn before we catch up with things he was doing 20 years ago! The man built some cars!

RIP Boyd!

G-Body 02-27-2008 04:13 PM

A man that has forgotten more than most know!
a true visinary in the ART of Hot Rodding and will be missed by alot of people.

Amazing how vehicles built by him were like seeing rock stars in person is always the effect his cars had on me in person! will be missed Gods speed.

Todds69 02-27-2008 04:24 PM

WOW!! That is sad news, and will truely be missed.

MaxHarvard 02-27-2008 04:24 PM

Like others have said, like him or not, he did have an effect on the auto industry. I just wish i get to do what i like for my job like he did.
