Got a offer on the Mustang...

I have a guy overseas that really wants my Mustang. He just called me and made me a 6 figure offer.. I really am torn if I should sell it or not. I love the car, never drive it but it looks good in the garage next to the Camaro. If I sold it, I would just go get something else I'm sure but it wouldn't be something I built..

What do you guys think?

I say you should keep it. Thats a killer car.

Payton King 03-06-2008 09:38 AM

Wow! That is a tough call

I have not seen many Mustangs bringing that kind of cash, but not many are as nice as yours. Remind me, is that a real Mach 1?

I really like the set of matching 69's. If you are going to turn around and replace it with another 69 fast back...not sure I would sell.

wiedemab 03-06-2008 09:40 AM

Man - that's a tough call. The money doesn't sound too bad though?????? I really like that car. I'd say if the money isn't an issue, I'd keep it. Let us know what you decide.

Vegas69 03-06-2008 09:51 AM

I think you have to much money... and to many nice cars. :D Only you can make that call.

jy211 03-06-2008 10:11 AM

I'd sell and build something else...but that's me. He doesn't happen to be from nigeria does he?

Buick Motorsports 03-06-2008 10:11 AM

Not quite feeling your pain!!! ;)

Steve1968LS2 03-06-2008 10:13 AM

1. You don't need the money

2. You would just have to build something else

So, unless the offer is for way more than it's worth then I would keep it.

By the way, what is your flooring material? I'm getting ready to redo my garage.

My car misses your garage.. lol

Stuart Adams 03-06-2008 11:15 AM

Sell it. Make sure it's REAL money.

Oh it's real money, I know the guy..

Steve, it's scored & stained concrete. I have the same in both garages but I'm having the other "everyday" garage redone with more of a textured finish. I can't tell you how many times I have hit the abs brakes when I pull in with wet tires!:D

Thanks for the input guys, I think if he REALLY wants it, he will come back with another offer then we will see..for now I told him no.

That is my favorite Mustang, but a six-figure offer is also very tempting. I guess I'm not very sentimental about cars, I'm always looking to move them and start the next project up. But, I'm sure we can both agree that the price is always higher when we don't "need" to sell a car. In fact, all of my current cars are always for sale at any time. The prices are just absurd until I get bored of them though. haha

Make some time to drive the car.

If you have more than the 6 fiqures in the car then keep it.
if your putting money in your pocket then sell it and build another.

Smittys67 03-06-2008 02:11 PM

Hold out for more money since the exchange rates are so good for them he is getting it cheap. I have seen a ton of cars leaving the country latley.

A six figure offer is only good if it's MORE than the cost to duplicate the car. That's assuming SW would replace it which he said he would.

I was offered "six figures" for my car, but turned it down since, if I built another one, I would have to put in hundreds and hundreds of hours. Selling a car a your "break even" point isn't a good financial plan if your just going to go build another one. lol

People ask me if my car is for sale and I always reply "Everything is always for sale" ;)

awr68 03-06-2008 04:29 PM

keep it! besides you would have to move too many cars to get it out of there!

BTW, love those pics!!

brownz 03-06-2008 04:41 PM

I know that i dont know you but it doesnt look like you need the money just keep it. the worst feeling ''i wish i would not have sold that car'' and it does look great with the other cars

surreyboy 03-06-2008 04:41 PM

unsolicited offers are always the best since you have all the control.i would sell all my cars for the right price, except one ,unless i got an insane offer .

Alex396ss 03-07-2008 12:04 AM

If you donīt need the money, keep it!

I'd say you should keep it,thats such a awesome 69' Mustang. Besides your 69' Camaro would be :( soo lonely without it. Good luck what ever you decide. Travis

I'd keep it SW, especially if you dont need the $$$. That is by far one of the nicest Mustangs I have laid eyes on. :hail: Maybe if you drove it more you wouldn't think of selling it. But man like I said I just love that thing and I am not a Mustang guy at all.

Good call SW...I've got a buddy just stuck on both the '69 Boss 302 & the Z/28 so he owns both.
Not a Ford fan by any stretch of the imagination but that is the best year for the Mustang....and yours is world-class.:hail:

Ummgawa 03-07-2008 06:25 PM

Great Call. Not every car is sweet enough to be a magazine car. And I have not seen a Mustang as sweet as yours other than the 69 Mustang Convertible a member built here with the fastback quarters. Black too, Super sweet SW...good move.

awr68 03-07-2008 06:36 PM

SW, where can we see pics of the car...its been a long time since I've really seen any...and most of those were during paint stage.

Thanks again guys for the support,

chicane 03-07-2008 09:17 PM

Personally... I wouldnt sell it, but that is just me.

Besides, if he's got the monies... maybe he should pay you to have a car done for him.:unibrow:

Smack_talker 03-08-2008 06:01 AM

Sw..build a stroker 454 Ford....427 with a 428 crank. A friend had one built by John Vermeesch in Michigan. It was a strong motor and sounded killer.
