Some Cool New Bits
As we head into the home stretch on the OLC build we've got some pretty cool bits and pieces coming together.
Many thanks to :hail: Matt Rogers and RFR Custom Fabrication for his help on these additions to the project: One of the issues that we had with the Ring Brothers hood pins was that in the Camaro application, we had about a half inch of threads exposed above the rad support. Matt came up with this awesome solution: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...0pin%20nut.jpg He even machined a billet socket to get to the blind nut that is on the underside of the support http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics...pin%20assy.jpg We needed some body shims and Matt stepped up with these: http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC_pics/rfr%20shims.jpg Overkill? Definately. |
It's that attention to detail that makes a car something special. Looks great!

He also helped us put together a new hood latch:

We'll have some new stuff coming from him in the next month or so including the next generation of hood latch. THANKS MATT!!! |
Now this didn't come from Matt but it also showed up today and I think that it is really neat peice as well. This is a snap off steering hub that will require just a bit of tweaking to really make work with the Momo wheel and adapter:

Ohhh... I want the hood latch..
They going to sell this stuff or is it one off? Also, no spring and cup on the latch? |

I doubt that the hood latches would be economical or all that popular so it is probaly something that won't go in to production any time soon. They will probably remain an almost one off deal but I will be making a couple more once I am satisfied that it doesn't have any subtle issues and the fit/alignment is up to par. I am working on gen 2 as we speak. With the CF hood, Ring Brother hinges, and modified cable release we found that we didn't need the spring. With the pins there was no need for the safety latch - hence the need to start fresh with a new latch. |
Nice parts! It's nice to see Matt's back in the game...by that I mean RFR doing stuff again!!

Those are some insanely well engineered and attractive pieces! Awesome work. ....and further proof that "billet" or CNC" does not necessarily mean street rod.
