Damn! Congrats SW. :woot: Was this in his Supra??

JayR 03-30-2008 09:21 PM

Could have been that wicked Supra but more likely the nasy TT Viper he drove in the Car And Driver January issue where he won the 0-200-0 test.

You know how many cars can hit 200 in the mile, much less 229?!?!?! That is crazy fast with the $1.4 million Veyron way off in the distance behind you!

VERY IMPRESSIVE:thumbsup:

Thanks guys, just got back. This was in the Boost Logic Supra that I have been drag racing, not my Supra. We were drag racing last weekend, pulled the motor Monday, freshened up, changed up the suspension set up and had it back running on thursday! These guys are amazing.

This morning, Justin(our tuner)& I were trying to figure out the set up and decided on 32lbs and no spray. For reference, I run 40lbs of boost& 175 shot when I drag race it. I was hoping to crest just over 200 for the first run but it felt good so I stayed in it. About 205 or so, I felt the car move around (wind), so I lifted about 20% throttle just enough to settle the car and got back in it. I was happy with the 229.7 but I knew there was more in it, unfortunately , we had no luck fixing the boost problem. On my second run, we only hit 22lbs of boost, third run only 27lbs of boost. The 212mph run felt really slow, like driving my motorhome.. the 222 run felt alittle better but I think the car should go 238.

People were walking around our cars all day and just shaking their heads thinking, how in the hell these 10+ year old Toyotas run so damn good..

The conditions weren't the best, rain in the morning and a strong head/ side wind but all in all a fun day! I will post the video up as soon as we get it done.

Theres drag cars that can hit 200mph in the 1/4.The gt40 and Shelby daytona coupe could hit 200mph with a long straight away.

This is a STREET car with a/c power steering, full interior, stock 6spd transmission, stock Toyota rear end& axles..3650lbs w/driver

I ran [email protected] last week with it and 229.7 in the mile this week. There are not too many street cars that can do that..

Congrats buddy!! :hail:

wiedemab 03-31-2008 06:57 AM

Only one thing to say "WOW"

Did you do any custom bodywork (spoilers, belly pan, air dam) for aerodynamics?

SW, you are one sick puppy. Sweet ride. You were flat haulin' @$$.

Did you feel like you had to fight the wheel at all or did it track straight and true? Looks good in the video. I'd have wood for a week.

:D I love it!! We need to hang out more...once a year doesn't cut it!!

How much cage is in the car?

Payton King 04-01-2008 08:04 AM

I am amazed of how stable that

stock bodied car was at that speed.

You are making me question my manhood. You are one balls-e SOB. Really great record in a very versatile car. Have not seen any that can lay down the numbers in the quarter and then run it out the back door in a mile.

What a huge achievement for you and the guys!

Stay safe and keep livin' the dream

jannes_z-28 04-01-2008 08:30 AM

Damn that's impressive  :hail:

I once had what we claimed the Worlds Quickest Toyota, but that was in 1983 and a Celica Pro Stocker, it had an Pat Musi 366 CuIn Bigblock and ran 8.8/160 back then.

It was also easy to call it the Worlds Quickest Toyotas because there wasn't that many around back then:lol: Only Rallye cars.

Those Supras are really a piece of engineering art, reliable and powerful.

Great work SW!

Hey SW, one other thing - did you change the rearend gearing for that run or is it the same as the 1/4 mile ratio? How far off of redline was it at 229?

Same rear end. It's the stock Toyota 6spd rear end w/ TRD limited slip added. I was turning 9515 rpm in 5th gear according to the data log. We had the rev limit set at 9550. We felt we would lose too much time going into 6th.

Anthony, it does have a full cage, harness and Parachute. I was wearing all my gear inlcuding a Hans device.

I think Chris wants to put his old motor back in it and make it more of a driver. Now I'm hooked, I'm searching for another Supra, I don't want to cut up the Supra I have now, to build into a drag/ 1 mile car... here we go..:D

SW

Payton King 04-02-2008 07:32 AM

Obviously the Supra is one bad ass ride

Just curious as to why you would not start with a C6 Z06 or Viper to do the same thing? I know you have both and was wondering what gives the Supra the leg up on those vehicles. Size, weight, frontal area?

Diognes56 04-02-2008 10:26 AM

Awsome Congrats  .

JayR 04-02-2008 10:38 AM

Get that thing on the salt and let it breathe!! Once again, incredible achievement and this is so much more fascinating to me than drag racing even though i know how hard that car rocks the quarter. I went to the salt for the first time last year and I'm hooked. It's another world and all the variables to run all out top speed is so damn cool!

Please tell me Speed Channel or ESPN was at Maxton.

I have a friend of mine named Norm that owns the Lingenfelter TT C6Z that has run 226 "unofficially" in the mile. I saw that car at when I was at the Car& Driver 0-200-0 shoot out. He has about $250k+ in the project. They hurt the motor at the test and had to re-do it. SVS has done 231.6 in there twin turbo Viper race car but it's not even close to being a street car. A big reason is the guys at Boost Logic are close friends and they mostly work on Supras. They also lease a building from me directly behind my office. I think it's pretty cool to take a 6cly 10+year old Toyota and run those kind of numbers. :D When I build mine, it will be faster than the silver Supra I just ran. I have a new Skyline GT-R on order, we shall see what we can do with it.

SW

Payton King 04-02-2008 02:28 PM

Thanks for the reply

Pretty much why we all take these old muscle cars and try to make them into a C6 Z06 instead of just going out and buying a Z06, which would have been cheaper. LOL

I can't wait to follow the Supra build and hear about the new Skyline. Please post up build pics on this site of the Supra.

Black I assume? Can't wait to see the new Supra SW.

Who woulda ever thunk a little bitty 6 cylinder could make so much power.

2JZ's are awesome! Thanks for sharing that....
