Many, many thanks to Jon @ www.driverzinc for going above and beyond in what seemed like an impossible mission...but here they are:

These are Bonspeed Huntington's with dark grey p/coated centers and clear p/c on the lips.They are 18x9's/18x10's with Nitto N555's 275/35's and N555R 305/35 drag radials.Backspacing is 5.5" & 5.75".

As most of you know,Jon is fantastic to work with but for those looking for a great source for your wheels/tires and much more, you couldn't do any better then starting right there w/Driverzinc.

I plan to split early today from work and mount them up tonight...will post up some pics this wknd of them on the car.

those things look awesome. good job john and jon!!!

let me know how you like the drag radials on the street. from what ive read, they are the best tire around for traction. i just wonder about handling.

Again...a BIG shout-out to Jon Henson @ www.driverzinc ...he hooked me up with the perfect b/spacing for this car...besides the great service, pricing, and well...just about everything you'd expect from a very painless wheel-buying experience.
I cannot recommend him more highly.

slck6t9 04-20-2008 08:09 PM

WOW those look awesome on the car. What a whole different look they give.

Bulldog68 04-20-2008 08:16 PM

Wow, those really do look great! Nice choice.

Any plans for the wheels they replaced?

Vince@Meanstreets 04-20-2008 10:01 PM

ahhh its ok. They would look better on the 70 Z-28.

LOL Allen gave me a dollar to say that. Looks killer John.

7TSS 04-21-2008 01:39 AM

Looking good

Vegas69 04-21-2008 10:58 AM

Nice:thumbsup:

tony byram 04-21-2008 11:39 AM

Love those wheels John! They look killer on the Chevelle. Im going to get a set for my 1972 Z/28. They look kind of like a stylized SS/Z/28 wheel of that vintage! Great choice, they look great on your car. Do they make a 18x12 Huntington wheel like that? Tony:cheers:

I dont want to sound like a copy cat but thats exactly what Ive been looking for for my Camaro Z/28 circa 1972, they look kinda like a sylized Rally or Z wheel of that era with the charcoal centers. Are these wheels available in 18x12s for the rear? I want some gorilla 335s on back, also what are the available B.S. for awheel that large? Man! A set of those would look great on my Z. Love em! Tony

Thanks guys for all the nice compliments,I am totally happy with the fitment and the look. They are like a modernized version of what I had (AR CL205's) and yes, they fit the theme of what I try to do to all my cars to a T!

Since they're custom made Tony, you can have them in any width you desire but anything over a stock 10" wide width...which these are...will cost you to have them widened.Contact Jon Henson @ www.driverzinc.com for some great advice & pricing.I was originally going with 335/30's on an 11" wide wheel but shelved that because I thought it would be too tight...and it would have been very tight. Here's a picture of the mockup w/the 335's:

http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/DSC05035.jpg

I agree they would have looked sick but I would have to have nailed it dead nuts to pull it off...and I don't think I'm that good.

DriverzInc 04-21-2008 01:12 PM

Sweet, Sweet, Sweet...

Did I say it looks SWEET? Great pictures John, and I'm happy that you are happy, and that the end result came out perfect. Thanks for the biz, I'm just happy to help a fellow enthusiast achieve the look he was going for, and to be a part of your car.

buickfunnycar.com 04-21-2008 02:52 PM

I'll apply my driverzinc sticker proudly Jon...to say I'm happy with the wheels and the service is a huge understatement:hail:

Send me a few license plate frames if you got any laying around and I'll rock those too.:woot:

I sold the AR CL205's (18's/20's) to a guy over on the Chevelle boards but I'm really not much of a seller.
I'm good at buying though...

tony byram 04-22-2008 09:58 AM

Hey John, were the 335s Nittos? I like the tread on them. Your right tho it does look very close to that fender, but man it looks sweet with that much tire under there. I wouldnt have any problems though as my car has been tubbed. Talked to Jon, and said there was a little difficulty in gettig them ordered as you wanted them. They look great and fit well, and pull off a factoy custom appearance. Tony

skatinjay27 04-22-2008 10:56 PM

no tony the 335s are michelins(spelling)

Looks great John. What is your ride height relative to stock, approximately? How many inches lower than stock?

I have a 69 Chevelle and really like your stance!

You know I'm not sure since that's how the car sat when I bought it in 2001.
If I had to guess,I'd say it's at least 2-3 inches lower than stock but I'd be happy to measure for you if you'd like.
A couple of guys thought I should lower it even further but I like the ride height right where it is...especially on the Nor Cal roads I travel on.:wow:

postino 04-30-2008 02:26 PM

Thanks John....no need to measure. That's about what I thought. I think that combo would look good on my 69 as well. I'll be about 2-3 inches lower than stock too. I was going to go with 315/30/18 in the rear but I don't think that would give me enough sidewall.

The WidowMaker 04-30-2008 03:18 PM

postino - youre right..... not enough sidewall and waaaayyy too short of a tire imho. look for something closer to the the 27" range. im personally going with a 305/35/20 which is 28.4" tall. yours comes out to about 25.4. my front tires are taller than that.

Tim

buickfunnycar.com 04-30-2008 05:40 PM

Tim is right,I've had 30-series 20" tires on the back of this car and they looked like band aids.
My fronts are 25.57" tall and the rears are 26.4" tall so I've got that slight rake we all want built-in.I'm not sure if it's because they're drag radials but I think the rears have plenty of sidewall...tire program puts that @ 4.2"

postino 05-01-2008 02:23 PM

Thanks guys. I don't like the "band aid" look that's for sure. At least not on a car as big as a Chevelle. On others it looks okay, but on an A body you need some height!

....now if only I could decide on wheels I'd be set...

Like John, I prefer 5 spoke designs. I've had my eye on these from Billet Specialties for awhile.Attachment 11903

Almost look similar to the Foose Legends which I'm sure Jon can hook you up with...
