Morrison 1st Gen Rear Suspension

OK- so we are just about done with the tri 4-bar and I can't keep the secret any more - Fully welded rear subframe to replace the stock unibody rails that fits under the stock floor and you can keep your stock fuel tank!

BBC69Camaro 05-02-2008 09:13 AM

Wow looks nice. :unibrow:

How much welding and fabrication are needed?
Can you mini-tub your new suspension w/o cutting frame rails??

CraigMorrison 05-02-2008 10:42 AM

No, this is a replacement for the sheetmetal unibody rails.

Blake Foster 05-02-2008 10:44 AM

looks good Craig.
how long till you test it?
production date? any ideas?

XcYZ 05-02-2008 11:36 AM

Great looking piece, Craig. I like how you mounted the sway bar.

Is there much room for mufflers/tailpipes?

Jr 05-02-2008 11:51 AM

Craig,
Will the airride shockwaves fit? Does that car have a mini-tub? looks like it does...

blissbsm 05-02-2008 05:37 PM

Well, I think............Actually I know, that if Art and crew design it that it will be awesome. Adding soild rails to the back of the car no doubt has distint advantages. Also, it looks like they are taking a no compromise link location only possible by adding the crossmember.

I am eagerly awaiting the labor study. The labor of the installation for most buyers hiring the installation out will be added to the kit cost. And total kit cost is important to many buyers, but not to others. Also, there are many talented home builders on these forums that not only are capable of installing this set up, but they would enjoy the process, and it cost them nothing but materials.

If I am not mistaken (gosh I hoping I am not speaking out of church) this car will be set up for 4 and 3 link arrangments for TRUE back to back testing. I think I will fly out for this one!

So what do I think..... I think if this suspension is as good as other Morrison deisigns, I see a lot of conversations like this:

Customer: So Frank, What rear suspension do you suggest?

Frank: Well, if you don't mind the fabrication and want a no compromise suspension..............

nvr2fst 05-03-2008 06:25 AM

Craig
Will the rear subframe be able to be purchased seperately. Also very curious as to how the exhaust fitments will be. Got pictures? I spoke with kevin on friday and he mentioned something new is in process for the rears Im assuming this is what hes talking about.

Any plans for some subframe connectors to tie into that crossmember? I wish this had been around when I purchased my AME subframe.

Don

Todds69 05-03-2008 01:34 PM

That looks like a real nice set up, I'm sure they will sell like hotcakes.

Looks very nice Craig.

J2SpeedandCustom 05-03-2008 03:31 PM

Craig looks awesome! I can't tell in the pics but is the car mini-tubbed? It appears you are using the stock upper shock mounts?

GHOSTDANCER 05-04-2008 06:02 PM

Looks killer   :woot:

98ssnova 05-04-2008 11:20 PM

Do you think that this will fit in a 3rd gen nova.

awr68 05-04-2008 11:32 PM

Looks nice Craig! Will that car be at the GG's Show in July?

CraigMorrison 05-07-2008 07:50 AM

We are definitely shooting to have Matt's car at the Puyallup GG show. Subframe connectors will definitely be available too.

The car is indeed minitubbed with DSE's tubs. Awesome pieces.

The stock shock mounts are not used. The clip has its own mounting points.

Thanks Matt! I didn't look close enough at the frame rails to see the upper shock mounts...Doh.

When is this going to available?

CraigMorrison 05-08-2008 02:52 PM

Thanks to your input, we have made a slight re-design on the front crossmember to make exhaust fitment a bit easier. Note the Pypes stainless crossover in the background of one of the shots. As you can see, there is room for a muffler, and the exhaust can be routed up and over the housing. Before you ask, this was done with 2.5" inch exhaust, and from the looks of things 3" should work, but things will obviously be a bit tighter.

This looks awesome. I just wished it was out like 8 mos ago before I started my rear suspension.

Blake Foster 05-08-2008 05:51 PM

I apologize for letting this thread hang. I'll try to keep up with it better in the future.

Anyway, a 335 will fit with no frame notching required by the end user.

HotRod68Camaro 05-21-2008 04:22 PM

Looks like a great product as usual. I am interested to see the price on this.

It will be very competitve, that's all I can say right now.

Early this week we managed to hang the 3-link clip in the car. It looks awesome. Cutting was very minimal.

Soon- The jig for the tri 4-bar clip is being finished up and we are working on pricing next week. I don't want to give any ballpark figures yet, but for what it is, it will be fairly priced.

crazycarl 05-29-2008 04:18 PM

Good lookin' setup. I like the new, more clearance, crossmember.

Well, you can thank the boardmembers for that one. We posted the first draft sub pics and received a lot of comments about muffler placement, so changes were made.

Matt's 3-link clip is installed, subframe connectors designed and installed, pricing will be finished in a couple of days, jig is done......

Oh yes, the rear seat still fits in the car with trimming comparable to the DSE kit

Don't forget to let us know so we can run a "new products" deal on it.. :)

Does it have a PHR of Watts?

The 3-link is using a Watts.

CraigMorrison 06-11-2008 06:47 AM

Here are the pics~ http://www.artmorrison.com/gallery/v...ip&id=000_0311

It starts off with the back seat pics and the fact you can keep your rear seat with our 3-link. You can also keep your stock fuel tank. This particular clip has both the 3-link and tri 4-bar brackets on it as we are going to do some comparison testing later this year.

GrnDragon 06-11-2008 08:44 PM

That looks great! I must say I really envy the job you guys get to wake up to every morning.
So do you think the Max G 3-link chassis could be available with the narrower Torque Bar Mount (This setup just looks like it provides more clearance than the Max G setup)

JUSTANOVA 06-12-2008 10:43 AM

based on the title of the pics on the website I would gess that this will fit 3rd gen novas?

and is there enough room to run shockwaves around the watts link?

that thing looks awesome and I suppose I will have to end up with that under my car when I get that far. you guys do killer work:hail:
