Whats with kids these days in rice burners!!!

I was out for a quick ride on my buddies 06 GSXR when some punk in a rice burner with ten spoilers,10" monster tach with 2 shift lights (just in case the first one fails),and a sewer pipe for a muffler pulls up next to me and wants to run!!!!! We were in the middle of the city in traffic for heavens sake!!!!!!!!! Second of all does this kid even think he has a chance against a 10sec bike!!!!!! So after a few lights I dont give in for a race so the jerk cuts me off!!! Whats the deal with these kids these days.....they have no comprehension between fantasy and reality. When I was growing up I gave respect where respect was due and knew my limitations.Oh well thats just my ranting for today but I feel alot better!! :willy:

I totally agree there are plenty of them out there, but I wanted to chime in to let you know there are some normal respectable young guys out there too. (I am one!)

In all honesty, it is worse for me sometimes to be out in the Camaro, because not only do I get the imports revving and running up next to me, they have NO fear being idiots because I am a young kid too...so they think they have a better shot of insighting a response! Which they never get. But I have had them cut me off, or drive one in front and one behind me!!! I just take the next turn haha!

Just remember, they may be the loud and obnoxious ones, but that doesn't make them the norm!

Tim

Oh ya don't get me wrong I'm not saying all young kids are the same. Its the hand full that ruins it for everyone.

Joel145 05-22-2008 03:06 PM

That's one of the reasons I'm selling my neon SRT-4. My car puts down over
400whp but I don't try to race everyone on the street. I know exactly what you mean I get all kind of people trying to race me while I'm on my GSX-R 1000. Give me a break there's not that many cars out there that can take on a liter bike, so why try. I've been in a situation where I had to gun the bike and take off because there were two cars messing with me and I was afraid they were going to do something stupid and come into my lane.

this if funny. i see and hear comments like this all the time. however, when I 'm out on the bike (ZX9r) or the T/A, the only things that challenge me are Toyota Echos, Explorers, some beater 4cyl that is compiled of rust and duct tape and young kids in their mother's car. nothing ever wother wasting gas on. WTF

I do love crushing the big egos the sti and evo owners have. They rev at my 68 mustang i have dot slicks on it and a cage in it they look shocked when i let go of the trans brake and the front end leaves the ground.Saddest part i have about the same in my mustang total as they spend on there cars and mine can only go up in value theres will drop.400hp in a fwd is hard to catch traction on the track on the street you'll wheel hop like hell.I do love the ricer fly by they do best way to piss them off is nail it and see how fast you up and leave them.I never understood a huge wing on a fwd or the huge tach when the cars got one stock even worse its a auto.

I have wheel hop under control with a few suspension mods but traction and torque steetring are interesting to say the least. I love all kinds of cars but like you said it isn't worth dumpimg money into a newer sport compact(with the exception of a supra/skyline) because you'll never get the money back. That's another reason I'm going to go check out a '66 Nova today and hopefully buy it, so wish me luck:thumbsup:

i dont get why car lovers complain about ricers. People comlpained about kids running around in their 2-door coupes, with loud exhuasts and big tires in the 70's. So why are the ricers SO terrible?

I don't like rice out hondas any more than the next guy. But they are just the Nova's and GTOs of today.

If it really hurts your feelings so bad, next time you see a ricer, write him up one of these...

now that citation is hilarious!!!!!!

both the skyline and supra are way over hyped cars a skyline power and weight is about the same as a v6 mustang who brags about owning one of them. Most high powered supra are dyno queens 1500hp and only run a 10 is sad.I had a 240sx with a rb25det in it that thing was a money pit id cry if i added it all up.But i have about the same amount in my 68 mustang and it would eat my 240sx at everything but mpg.

I agree they're over hyped and that's why their price are holding up.

i have on the other hand been on the other end of stupidity.. we were out in my buddys twin turbo 31 roadster messing with some fuel and ignition.. and a gsxr600 tries to cut in front and we floor it and he just cant get past us... this happens 3 times from red.. and we pull away by a car length or two every time.. and guess what the gut sais at the last light??... nice car... lucky for you i didnt run more that half throttle.... why even bull****? he was crouched over and beating that bike to death... and his muffler was so loud you could hear he was just torturing that thing.

They are the cars of 'their' generation (and bikes) we didnt all start out owning $15K cars and bikes- I guess they have to start with what they afford. If you are only making $30K a year, you cant go out and blow it all on a car or bike (although some of us would!)

What I dont like is the lack of respect from some of the guys who own them. THATS not cool

aany001 06-01-2008 11:59 AM

Exactly what I mean.............. NO RESPECT !!!!!

Come on guys, really??!?! I'm sure you exhibited the upmost respect for your elders when you romped through the neighborhoods, knocking out mail boxes... I'm not advocating childish behavior on the part of teenage ricers. But what do expect from childern?

Your first mistake was wasting that $ on a 240. They are often reffered to as training wheels for power.

As for the Supras and Skylines, I'd agree that MOST Supras are dyno queens or giant Lag Monsters at best. But they are definitly making more power than your little v6 sh!tbox bud!

There are a few Skylines boasting 1000 Hp (and not dyno queens). I believe an FD (RX-7) held the record for the fastest street legal car for several years. (was it the red one from RX7.net?)

But are we really gonna wrap Skylines, Supras and RX7s in with Hondas and Celicas??!?!?!?!?!!!?!? The "Ricers" in questions don't have the time, resources and patients to build one of these. That's why they only buy bolt ons.

Just for the record, how often are the pretty cars I see on this forum on the road? Not sure they are all dyno queens, but maybe garage queens is more appropriate.

I just don't get the complaint about ricers, especially on a car enthusiast forum. Maybe if this was LawDogsInc.com/forums but not from a bunch of gearheads.

My car hangs with 600cc bikes all day. It's my daily driven 87 Mazda RX7. I usually get the thumbs up after a little run with a bike.

I agree and/or respect everyone's opinion on this thread. On one hand Evo owners have big egos but on the other hand we are spending thousands of dollars on our muscle cars to try to make them handle and brake like and EVO or STI does. Believe me, I know fast imports, I lived across the street from Central Florida Turbo and TitanMotorsports I saw those guys grow from street racing to what they are now. I'm still an owner of a neon SRT-4 but we can't seem to have a meeting and getting broken up by the cops because some jerk off always wants to either burn out/hit the rev limiter a couple of time or always want to go off and race somewhere. Now I live in central Fl. (lived in Orlando until recently) there are four major drag strips within a 150 mile radius, Gainsville, Brandeton, Moroso and Orlando Speedworld. Speedworld is IN Orlando and is open to the public every wednesday and friday night and once a month on saturdays, why street race. I love all kinds of cars but it's really hard to defend some of this people that own sport compacts. Like this guy with drag radials on the rear.

I know a lot of low 12sec and 11 sec cars can keep up with a 600cc bike but you have to be in the 10sec range to keep up with a liter bike, 9 sec for a Hayabusa or ZX14. and lets be realistic how many ten second cars are on the road. As far as the Supra comment I just said they're the only imports who seem to hold their value, along with skyline and some FD's

I had one of my friend's kids bring over a Eclipse to ck out his clutch problem- he had the fake carbon-fiber hood, gauges, etc. etc. nice kid who probably drives like a punk, like most of us did...if we are honest enough to admit it. He was loving my "old" camaro and asked a ton of questions. there are idiot import drivers out there, just like there are idiot drivers our age.

we dealt with the same crap from the generation before us saying if it AINT pre '48 it ain't worth the time and neither are you. If we don't show these kids any interest they won't respect us. I enjoy screwing up a kid for life by turning him on to "real" hot rods. They are acting like disrespectful punks because nobody has invested time. I know these are very broad and general statements- Chris

No argument here. I've seen some pretty outlandish stuff. A good friend of mine owns an import shop. Most every car that comes in there is done classy. They have to be at his rates. But there was this one FD that was more rice than Condoleezza.

No pics of it, but here is one good for a laugh.:willy:
