Man that SUCKS......... i'm still waiting for someone to steal my truck tho!!!

Tom.A 05-28-2008 09:03 AM

That sucks! I hope you get it back. Maybe I am wrong but I would think those cars are not that common in your country? If so might be better chance for recovery.

ProdigyCustoms 05-28-2008 09:40 AM

Oh my god no! Hopefully insurance covers this?

Good luck and maybe it will be found soon.

jimhamptons 05-28-2008 10:54 AM

Very sorry to hear. I am pulling for you to get it back in one piece.

sniper 05-28-2008 11:22 AM

Other than being rear-ended while driving, that is one of my fears.
I did however add GPS tracking to my ride to help in the event it is stolen. If the alarm is triggered it not only alerts my remote, it calls me and sends me an e-mail as well. Plus you can check it's location and status anytime from anywhere.

I know that's of little help in your situation, but it may help others in their quest for security.

I hope you get it back in the shape it was taken.

i decided to mount one of those but cant for the life of me figure out why i didnt... needless to say im alittle sorry i didnt

the only upside is that they stole the car with the old wheels, and the old driveline (267 sbc/th350 auto 3.08 open 7.5 inch rear) and its insured for 30k so it should be possible to do a nice regal/GNXclone Bu ... or 76laguna for that amount... since i have the driveline, the forgelines and a vintage air setup that they didnt get....

ProdigyCustoms 05-28-2008 12:06 PM

Great News! Jacob just called and he has found his car. And it sounds like it is unharmed excecpt a ding in the bumper

deuce_454 05-28-2008 12:09 PM

WAAAAHHUUUU! its recovered... and as frank said... appart from a ding in the front pumper.. its perfect

Tom.A 05-28-2008 12:14 PM

deuce_454 05-28-2008 12:19 PM

gearheads78 05-28-2008 12:31 PM

deuce_454 05-28-2008 12:36 PM

no didnt catch them... thank god in a way.. i would have gone postal!

Spiffav8 05-28-2008 01:07 PM

My heart sank when I read the first post. Been there and I know how much that hurts. Glad to hear you got it back and that it wasn't trashed or worse set on fire. That happens a lot here in Las Vegas.

Congrats on the safe return.

Steve1968LS2 05-28-2008 01:07 PM

Thank God..

Is it just me or do Malibus seem to get stolen a lot?

But in Denmark of all places?!?! That had to be pretty high profile.

Glad to hear you got it back, especially with the minimal damage.

The GPS tracking devices are neat and all, but the GPS devices and LoJack are easily defeated by a $45 jammer any schmuck can buy over the internet. They even have a cigarette lighter adapter, I wonder why... Chances are a joyrider won't have one-- but you can bet a professional will.

sniper 05-28-2008 01:43 PM

Man that was quick.
Did law enforcement find it or was it just a citizen?

A thief will get what he wants if he wants it bad enough. But I will do everything I can to either stop him from stealing it or help in aid in the recovery, should it be stolen. Glad I don't have a cigarette lighter. :P

130fe 05-28-2008 02:32 PM

Good to hear you got it back. Luckily you had most of the good parts out of it!

jannes_z-28 05-28-2008 02:39 PM

Damn thives, glad you got it back.

Unfortunatelly cars like this gets stolen here now and then. Most of the time its a ordered job because they want driveline or other parts.

The technical stuff that is available today are good and a tracking device is worth its money. You usually get lower fares on the insurance too.

BTW saw this story the other day. Some girl in New York got her iMac stolen a couple of days after she had a party in her flat. Apple has some software so you can track your computer if it get stolen and you can even control it remotely if you get contact. She found it active on the net and could use the inbuilt camera to take photos of the bastards when they used her computer. Guess what, it was some of her "friends" that were on her party.
Hard to explain to the cops :unibrow:

I dnot know if you have ever done this but now is the time. Pray over your car that God protects it form those trying to hurt it and steal from you. It has worked for me and God has kept me safe in my ride aswell.

98ssnova 05-28-2008 08:20 PM

Glad to hear the you got your car back. Did they cautch the thugs that stole it.

skatinjay27 05-28-2008 08:45 PM

CORNER BLITZ 05-28-2008 09:30 PM

Glad you got it back, congrats

deuce_454 05-29-2008 01:43 PM

it wasnt the law that found it, saw it myself when i tried to find a parkingspot for my moms honda i had borrowed.. it seems like they tried to do a 3 point turn and since the shifter cable (thank god for crappy parts sometimes) had broken a few days back, i had bought another a new one but not installed it yet (i just turn the collar on the steering coloum to reverse and put in park till i found the time to take a good day in the shop and do some small snags, including the cable)

anyway.. they couldnt get it in reverse, so it just bumped softly into a tree and stayed there in idle. and propably stalled... and when they couldnt drive in it, they just left it.. thank god i parked it in that direction:thumbsup:

98ssnova 05-30-2008 10:58 AM

That is the weirdest thing i have ever heard. You found your own car...crazy. Well at least you got it back

to tell you the truth i think i was the only one looking.... the cops said "if we check the tags when patroling.. it will come up stolen" so they couldnt care less about anuotheft.....

wedgehead 05-31-2008 10:20 AM

That also happens here with the police not looking. Some thiefs stole a wrecker from our business with the company name on the side in VERY LARGE lettering. The vehicle was abandoned on the side of a very busy highway about ten miles from were it was stolen when it ran out of gas. This was also about 2 miles from a police station. It was found by my next door neighbor a week after it was stolen as he was driving by he then called me. I went to where it was and put gas in it started it up and then directly drove it to the police station to ask why it was not noticed and to report it found. They said sorry we didn't see it. A1 ton wrecker painted red with emergency lights on top lettering on the door about a foot tall in size but they didn't see it. You had to drive by it to get to the police station from that side of town. For a week it sat there!!!!!!!!!!

too bad the GPS things couldnt disable the car with a 'click' or something once you find it missing.

Dude- hope you get the car back. and in one piece (or close to it)
