Black or umm 'not black'??
An update on my Nova.
Recently fabbed up a front air dam in aluminum to head toward that vintage SCCA vibe i'm shooting for...should I leave it raw (brushed) aluminum or paint it flat black? :_paranoid I seem to be getting an overwhelming 'paint it' on stevesnovasite.com, so thought i'd throw it to you guys. Chris raw (cleared) aluminum.... http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/DSC01983.jpg and a quick P/S black... http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n...sman81/ddd.jpg |
if you like it raw, leave it. But if it was mine, I'd paint it :D
|
If you were to leave it brushed I'd try to find a way to make it still retain the aluminum look. It kinda looks likes it been primered and cleared to me in the pics. I would not have know it was aluminum if you did not say it.
I'd paint it if the picture is not deceiving... |

It actually looks white to me in the first pic. I'd paint it black, the second pic looks much better imo.

x3. but thats the cool part when you own a car you can do what you want. car looks great  |
if you kept it raw i think that this would be cool..
take some scotchbrite to your bumpers and give them that brushed look to match.. that would be awesome. but if that wasnt an option.. id say paint it black.. |

flat black...
...on an unrelated note, i had those exact wheels on my 81 camaro...:) |
Black is always a winner. Just don't go crazy, break it up a bit.
|
black...
side note you made that??? damn thats a good looking piece! |
black for me to, thats always a winner.
did you make the part, it looks amazing!! |
spoiler
Powder coat it black .it wont get so chipped up as much
|
That's an awesome piece... to be honest, I'd be afraid of flattening it on the first drive. Do you have any sort of break-away supports? The "throw away" plastic Camaro spoilers are nice 'cause when they do get smashed... and I do mean "when"... you just rip 'em off and get another one. I'd hate to see such a nice piece get mangled.

You could also have it vinyl wrapped so it wont chip, if you leave it alum. put clear vinyl on it to protect it or vinyl it black then if the vinyl ever gets damaged or you get bored with it being black or clear you can just re do it. my vote is black, and black out the grill like in this last pic by joe440 and if you wanted to break it up a bit scotch brite the front of the fins in the grill. |
