Scott Mock's '69 Camaro finished

Scott just shared this link with me showing his Trans Am style Camaro.
http://chubbysfab.shutterfly.com/act...79a55c40f&pg=4
It's running some of our carbon fiber pieces, so I'm very proud to be included in his outstanding build. Thought I would share with everyone.

nice car, I dig how they incorporated the air cleaner to work with the cowl hood and feed the the TB. Like the big meats on the front as well to compliment the monster rears.

rogue 07-08-2008 06:30 PM

man that car is bad to the bone!

I assume dirk vanzuuk is responsible for the rear window straps and front spoiler?

camcojb 07-08-2008 06:36 PM

VERY nice, love the look.

Jody

ironworks 07-08-2008 07:08 PM

This is one of the best cars I have seen on this site. That is one bad ass car.

fastback 07-08-2008 07:59 PM

Nice. Brings back great memories.

Teetoe_Jones 07-08-2008 08:31 PM

He stole my ideas!!

J/K, we are working on a very similar build right down to the 1/4 windows, interior color, everything.

By far my favorite car of the year.

Tyler

My camaro

Thanks Guys for the kind words about my project. I didnt mean to steal any of your ideas but great minds think alike. The car drives great. Its fun to watch on coming drivers break there necks when they see me go by. Sun july 13 is the first test at K.C. crown auto cross club at kansas speedway. Then wed. july 16 open track day at heartland park to topeka. Will keep you posted on how I did. Thanks scott.

WILWAXU 07-08-2008 09:14 PM

Styling.......

Great styling..... I love it! Very true to road racing of the past with some modern technology!

Rodger (Ironworks): What do you think of those wheels?

bigtyme1 07-08-2008 10:10 PM

Sweey Ride Matt! I'm a major collector of Sunoco Memorabilia. If you get some profesional shots at the track let me know. I'd like to get it printed and framed for my trophy room.

brunoz28 07-08-2008 11:43 PM

sweetest '69 I've seen in a long time, too bad its like the best movie ever being released on the same day as the most advertised movie ever the notorious nova has over 40,000 views and this camaro is just as SWEET!

Bowtieracing 07-09-2008 12:08 AM

Love the details, love the car

DaveO 07-09-2008 12:11 AM

Awesome, congrats to both of you on a great car! Can't wait to hear how it does on the track.

Scott, mind if I ask what hood hinge struts you're using? I have the same hood and tried the 150lb f/g struts but they're still too strong for the CF hood!

waynieZ 07-09-2008 12:25 AM

Sweet car I like everything about it !
Wayne

coolwelder62 07-09-2008 07:08 AM

The hinges are DSE catalog hinges for fiber glass hood. they seem to work well. The hood comes up quickly when you release the latch. They could be softer. Just have not adressed that issue yet. I will call jason at DSE and talk to him wed. morning andget back to you.Scott.

USA Steel 07-09-2008 08:28 AM

He did it again!

As Always, another fantastic job of fabrication and imagination. Scott is a friend and always creates what he see's in his mind. Just amazing! I can vouch for this 69, it runs and drives just as good as it looks. Great Job!

whytry 07-09-2008 10:03 AM

That's awesome!!!

Datsbad 07-09-2008 10:04 AM

Tyler at ATS can confirm this is something I have had planned for a while now. I am so glad to see it come together for someone. With so many cars on going right now I couldnt swing it .

This is by far my favorite car on the site for sure.
I love every detail about it.

Here is a pic of what mine was going to look like. There are some things in this rendering that wouldnt have made it to the car . The So LoCo on the quarter is something Ben Hermance came up with

I can't take any credit for Scott's car. I'm just the messenger. Since Scott used some of our parts and is an early adaptor to our carbon fiber parts, it's such a kick to see something like Scott's car come together as nicely as it has and have something you've created be a part of it. I hope to see other builds use our parts to the degree Scott has. I haven't even seen his car in person, but would love to see it on the track.
Keep it shiny side up Scott!

Just wanted to post AGAIN.

I can't stop looking at your car. I love it. Of all the cars I've ever seen, this is my favorite car.

I BEG you for some hi-res shots for my desktop background.

Damn I love this car!!!!!!!!

Tyler

USA Steel 07-09-2008 12:03 PM

I'm with you TJ, this thing is hard to stop lookin at. Shoot, my wife doesn't even get this much attention from me.

coolwelder62 07-09-2008 02:46 PM

I want to thank everybody for all the nice things they are saying about my car. This is car I have wanted to build for along time now. I felt only someting like this that was bare & raw would do. It sounds & drives Feels like a real race car. When I climb down in the car it gives a feeling that none of the others cars I have built gave me. Thanks agin for the nice words because this site is full of alot really nice and bad ass cars.99% of the cars on this web site are all top notch cars. Scott

HWY Nova 07-09-2008 03:07 PM

Build Pictures

Scott,

Will you be posting more build photos? The two albums so far are great to look at! I was wondering is you have photos of the 'paint' and 'final assembly' phases.

--Eric

coolwelder62 07-09-2008 04:19 PM

Build photos

I have a ton of photos from paint & build stage I will have my brother ad them to the photo album this week end. that way it is easyer to view. By then I should have some track photos then also. Taylor From Mizfit said he would shoot video this week end and down load that for every one to watch. But dont laugh I am a rookie on the race track. I want take it slow at first and learn as I go.Scott.

HWY Nova 07-09-2008 05:56 PM

turbo_tom 07-09-2008 06:16 PM

Sick car! You are making me want the CF front pieces sooo bad...

Mizfit 07-09-2008 06:19 PM

Hey Scott man you really pulled it off. You deserve all the credit on this one. I remember we were talking about this idea when you were still working on the 68. So glad it all came together for you.I watched the build up on this car in person and let me tell you guys Scott has some really trick stuff on this thing. True Race Car no doubt about it. :hail:
I told Scott that I will be out there at the track and will shoot the car and maybe see if I can make a quick movie from the footage we get.

jimhamptons 07-09-2008 06:52 PM

Wow! Beautiful Car!

BC69 07-09-2008 06:59 PM

Wow!! That is awesome! If I ever get in the position to build another camaro it is going to be a Sunoco Trans-Am car just like that or the #36 68' Camaro. That is a beautiful mix of the classic look and some modern touches!

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Beach Cruiser 07-10-2008 08:08 AM

Great job Scott! I love the whole package! That's the look and feel I'm hoping my 67 will have if I ever get it done! Right down to the color! Post some final assembly pics and some shots from the track when you get them! I've been cutting my teeth on the track with 00 T/A, can't wait to get my Camaro out there and kick some Miata Ass!

ZVT 07-10-2008 09:33 AM

Gonna chime in here like everybody else and say this is probably the best looking Camaro around next to Penny its even better in my opinion:hail: :hail:

Absolutely stunning no wonder I do most of renderings on the similar streetfighter/transam racing style.:D :woot:

Jr 07-10-2008 11:19 AM

Damn! I have been looking at this car for two days...I love this car.

Can we get some video...please

coolwelder62 07-10-2008 02:40 PM

I am so glad that everybody loves my car. My drag race buddies think I screwed up the paint by putting all the decals on the car. But that is what I wanted. This car does not have the build quailty of the Nova Troy is building.Or the paint & body work of bad penny. I sand blasted this car on Nov.14 2007 And rushed ot get it done so I could thrash on it this summmer. The car is soild ,but not a SMOY canidate like Troys Nova. It was built in my home shop. I just did the best job I could W/ a med budget. videos to to follow. Scott.

Rybar 07-10-2008 02:54 PM

Scott, that is a killer car. Love the direction you took with it. Very different than most others which is tough for a '69 Camaro.

Very cool car that you can have fun with. Can't ask for more.
