Goodguys Columbus - Friday Update!

Im sure Troys nova needs a little tunning and all it is a fresh build but come on if you cant run with the big dogs.... you know what they say!!!!

No not the tires, they did not have time to do all the tuning like a lot of us but they made it through..... barely. We pulled 7th place with the Blazer not bad for a off the wall vehicle... |
Pics please :hail:
Siting on the other side of the world in the middle of the night and pushing the update buttom... |

I have to download and size and will get a bunch posted up in the morning so you guys can see. Have Video of Autocross as well and will try to get that up.
|
It was great at the end when DSE and Air Ride were battling it out for the fastest times. They were hooked up. Man those car can fly. I think DSE won again. It was a little hard to hear over all the reving engines.
|
I'm a little suprised the Draco Fessler Camaro didn't place even higher. I know that car just got finished . Maybe that 572 is a little heavy for great autocross driving but probably awesome on straights.Bring on the videos:thumbsup:
|
John thanks for the update!
What were Kyle and Bret's times? |
|
|
the air ride and dse guys were beating the living snot out of the cars. IT WAS AWSOME!!

Does anyone know if the nemesis mustang made it to the show. I didn't see it on the list of autocross times. I thought that they were trying for smoty?

Kevin Alstott, ’68 Camaro – Best Time 17.6 (Roger Burman built car. Fast!)
http://www.ridetech.com/more/nggalle...-6/gallery-50/ I'm surprised that this car did so well considering it was a convertible. Does anybody have any stats on it? |
The Kenny Davis built camaro looks really good with wheel change imo.
http://www.ridetech.com/more/wp-cont...s/IMG_6287.jpg Thanks for the Air Ride link Al. It is neat to see some of the other cars and the Fesler Blazer carving it up. |

Regarding Troy's Nova and it's slower times, - it was transmission troubles that kept them from having the performance they wanted. They were having frequency problems with the eletrical aspect of the Bowler tranny. They thrashed all Friday morning before finally saying "heck with it" and unplugged it, which deafults that tranny to second gear. They idled over there and did all three laps in second gear. It was a circumstance where they just wanted to get the laps in. I spoke to Troy personally this morning and that's the scoop.
I will post the top five finalists this afternoon. Stay tuned |
I agree on the Kenny Davis car. Nice.

How come a Goodguys employee is commenting on this car and its times but no one elses? Doesn't seem fair to me. Carrie (not afraid to say it outloud) Fesler |
So who made the top 5?
|
Thought I'd let you guys in on the first round of post on our site covering the event. There will be more coming - I'm posting stuff from the show and hotel of an evening. I think it will be easy to see, this event is rockin' and the addition of requiring the SMOTY contenders to run at least 3 laps on the Street Challenge Autocross was just too awesome... enjoy the photos and look for videos to be added soon:

Hi Carrie. Thank you for at least signing your name to your post. Let me answer your question correctly. The official contest rules for SMOY state that the cars had to be parked in the Pro's Pick Friday and Saturday. The car in question went over there and parked in the Pro's Pick after the Autocross Friday and was parked in the PP again today. It also made it's required three laps in the Autocross so it fits eligibility just like the others.
I just found out today about the technical difficulties with the car's transmission and with a 12-page thread on this board about that particular car I thought it would relevant to post why it was so slow in the Autocross. That's about it. |
