Fesler Built 1966 Mustang Gt Project
alright we are on the car full time now and its getting ready for paint so I am going to post up some build shots to where we are so you can all get caught up.
This car was a 1966 Ford Mustang GT matching numbers, yes that is right a matching number car that we are going to cut up and rework to make it look like it should have when Ford built it. This car came to us with paint done ready to go back together that is all it needed. We were going to just do a nice restore on the car and we found rust so you know what that means complete car needs to come apart and start over. If we are going to start over why not just go all out well that is what we are going to do. Every panel on this car is rebuilt or reworked in some fashion. I will post as many pictures as I can to get you all caught up and as some of you may have seen we brought this car out to SEMA in raw metal. This car was in our booth at SEMA last year in the raw stages to show the kind of work our shop does and to show everyone in this industry that we are not afraid to let people see whats under the paint. Lots of people say we cant get things done and we only bring cars to SEMA that are half done but we bring cars to the shows in stages so you can see all the metal work and how they were built. Not to mention we had 9 cars at SEMA last year on display all over the place. Check out the build pics and let me knwo what you think and if you have questions ask. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img0008.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img0023.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img0038.jpg heres what we found under the paint, nice work for a car that had a $10,000 paint job on it. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img0173.jpg Here are all the panels that had rust http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img0539.jpg |
So we called up Year-one and got some replacement panels to fix the car right left and right side were bad. We cut off both quarters to do it right, as you can see by the first patch job they hacked the car up so much that it was too far gone to fix right.

Well once we get this far lets tub it with huge tubs for a Mustang and still keep the factory back seat area

Here is how we did the rear of the car, all hand fabricated out of steel. We wanted to get rid of all the pot metal on the car

here is he hood work, we wanted to build an actual functional hood that worked. We used the GT hood and built from there

On to the front end this is where the major work will take place as we reshape the complete front end. Nothing is untouched here and all hand built

Making each side match perfect takes time

after all the metal work on the car was correct and fit perfect we sanded the complete car down to it ready to go to SEMA 07 to show the kind of work we do. We figured everyone can take cars to SEMA but we like to take a few in the metal stages so everyone can see how we build them.
The blazer, 67 Chevy truck, 69 Camaor and this Mustang have all gone to SEMA in the raw stages. Some people on this site say its becasue we do half ass cars and cant get anything done well I say we do it to show the work we do and to show people that we do it right. We have nothing to hide http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img1722.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img1729.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img1730.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img1731.jpg http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...GT/Img1735.jpg |

I will post some more metal shots later today if I have time, the car is in paint right now and we should see some color here in the next week or so. After SEMA we had a ton of work to do on the car to get it ready for paint and I will post some update shots of that as well.

Chris
I have to say that the work on the Mustang is impressive. However, with all that has gone on in the past week and all the negative attention you have garnered for what ever reason, comments like this: Some people on this site say its becasue we do half ass cars and cant get anything done well I say we do it to show the work we do and to show people that we do it right. We have nothing to hide are killing you man. It's a Perception vs. Reality thing. I would seriously pick a different hill to die on. Live another day and let your work speak for itself. |

I appreciate your comments and will let the pictures speak for themselves on this build.
Excellent Idea. |

The front valance is killer, that's a spot that really needs attention on these cars. I like what you did.
