Rivets or not?
 

As if picking a rim style isn’t hard enough, now I have to choose between rivets & no rivets.
What say you & why?

FYI, these are 2 piece wheels.

I have the rated x's for my 55' with the rivets. So which wheel did you finally decide on?

i prefer rivets. they add a little contrast and detail. and they will really make that lip noticeable:thumbsup:

I like the rivets, but for me it depends on the wheel design. We just ordered some smoked titanium (polished outer) Fuels without hardware for our 70 Nova. Can't wait to get them!

The Rated X and Livewire both look great with hardware though.

To me it depends on the finish...

Normally I'm not an exposed hardware kinda guy...except on true 3-pc wheels of course but like GM Muscle said,they add a bit of contrast if the centers of your wheel are dark.I wouldn't care for them on an all-polished wheel...too much bling for me.
I opted for the hardware on mine because they are dark and I am totally positive it was the right choice on my particular application:yes: :

I didn't vote because like I said...depends on the application.

Not 100% decided, every time I think I have my mind made up I see a picture of one of the other styles & I'm undecided again....


John, Rushforth had me going for a second. There’s a yellow Camaro w/ black Rated-X on their site, I thought you swapped wheels for a sec.

It was one of the SMOY entries & I think there is video of it running the course at Good-Guys Columbus.

I'm going to say it depends on a lot of things.
Like John said, finish does play a role, but I think the most important factor is the car, and its style. If your building a G-Machine, more business looking car, then the rivets fit the look. If your building a smoothed out 55 chevy in turquoise and white, then deleting the hardware might be best.

A good example is MuscleCarJohn's 69 camaro with the Super Spokes in smoked titanium. That car, being lowered, and looking ready for the track, looks perfect with the hardware. As does Kenny Davis' Camaro with the brushed Rated X's.

Also, cleaning around the rivets is really not that hard. If you wash your wheels with a lot of soap, and a lot of water, and a soft micro fiber mit or wool mit, all the dust that collects around them will easily wash away.
When polishing your wheels by hand, or with a PowerBall, spray the wheel down with quick detailer to wipe it clean, and any residue left in the nooks can cranny's will easily wipe away.

It's all in the technique. ;)

But John does make a great point...its all about the car, color etc.
A perfect example is Kennys camaro. That car looked so smooth and classy with the one offs by Rushforth. When he changed them up to the brushed Rated X's, it gave the car a whole new bad-ass attitude.

Besides,if I were to do Rated-X wheels,mine would be a flat dark grey w/polished hoops or all smoked titanium like I did on my Superspokes.:unibrow:

When would you like us to get started on those, John? Or will it be a set of Fuels for you this time? We know it's just a matter of time!! Impulse wheel shopper!

Since I designed the wheels, I'm partial to the hardware and think they'll really look great with your black centers and they just add a little shine to the dark centers and detail to the design but I know they aren't for everyone so that's why we make it an option. Either way, I can not wait to see them on that Mustang. That will look so MEAN and NASTY and those pics will go right up on our website!!

Oh, and John; Please never use the word "bling" in reference to our wheels!

You know I'd like to have a set of Fuels for the Camaro(s) Jay,especially since I had some input on what the final design should look like.I just didn't pull the trigger this time because I felt they would look too close to what I had going on with my Chevelle...and I like to have some different looks on each car.:yes: Someday soon,a possibility...yeah,maybe.:_paranoid ...you know me too well man.:unibrow:

I still think of gold chains and white-haired old men driving Ferrari's in South Beach whenever I see a fully polished wheel w/exposed hardware...ala the "bling factor".I do not like that look at all man...:rolleyes:

Well all I ever had was 15 & 17 inch TTII's and I was tired of that look so I wanted to be defferent and went with the hardware, 19 & 20's with brushed centers and polished lip. John I have to admit when I first saw your wheels I didn't like them but OMG they look like a million dollars on your car. They compliment each other very well. If you do get some for your 70 Camaro try black centered fuels with polished lip for a different look.

I thought of that combo too but they would look very close to the Bonspeeds I have on my 'Velle and I kinda don't want all my wheels to look the same...but I will consider the Fuel wheel for something,what I don't quite know yet,lol...:_paranoid
