Made it to Hot August Nights
Planned on towing the Chevelle to HAN but it wouldn't go on my trailer this morning. So I decided to just drive it. Sounds simple enough, but the wife was going also and the last thing I wanted was to break down somewhere with her in the car. I haven't driven it more than 10 miles or so at a time up to now. It's about 150 miles from my house to the Atlantis where I'm staying, car ran great no issues. I did stop at elevation and re-did the fuel map real quick as it was dead lean up here. Temps never broke 190.
I'll report back when I get home, lots of cars up here. Jody |

Why wouldn't it go on the trailer?

Looks killer Jody!! Glad to hear you made it up there with no problems. I see Charlie drove Red Witch. Have a blast.

Car looked great Jody  , I saw it as I was crusing through, if only I could have found a place to park (lol) I would have looked a little closer and BS'ed with you. I got there to late in the day though, next time I guess.

Made it back today in one piece, car ran perfect. Never broke 190 degrees even in traffic, and averaged just over 21 mpg total (16 mpg uphill to Reno and 26 on the way back). I think it will exceed 21 mpg on a flat run. There is something going on in the rear end; sounds like a diff issue, clunking and bad noises on tight turns. I just had new gears installed in June as well as a complete re-do of the true trac diff. I'm going to take a look at it later, but it didn't quit on me and made no noise cruising down the road. Did you put the diff additive in the rear end? That stuff does wonders, It may sound like the diff is going to fall out of the car and you put 1-2 little tiny bottles in it and the noise is gone in like 10ft.

Good to see it's on the road

Jody has decided he hates Hot August Nights so much he never wants to go there again.

Don't worry Jody. He's just jealous. Don't let him get to you. He just doesn't know what it's like to be cool...
Oh, and for your rear end issues, Amsoil does offer an additive. I think it should help with your issue. It sounds like it needs it anyway. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ada.aspx |
Rear End noise
Jody ---
While at the "big boys toy store" (AKA Summit Racing personal line showroom)... My Brother in Law and I blabbed with the EATON guys.... as Rudy (BIL) has a clunking sound in his Camaro ----- SO GET THIS ----- this guy says DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RUN SYNTHETIC GEAR OILS!!! They apparently are TOO SLIPPERY!! He isn't selling anything.... so has no axe to grind. He swears up and down - don't do the synthetic gear lubes - they've seen nothing but problems with them. As it turns out - Rudy - thinking he was doing "good" - had switched to synthetics -- and then the noises started. DOH. |
