twist machine fender braces

has anyone used twist machines fender braces on a 79-81 f-body, i just recently bought them and they seem to be too tall no matter where i try to bolt them they hit the hood. it's almost like i have to notch the fenders for them to fit right, any suggestions

thanks
alicia

Give us a call. They should fit fine.

68protouring454 08-13-2008 03:33 PM

so how did you make out? i have gotten 4 sets and they always fit perfect, did you buy them direct or thru a dealer? give steve a ring hes is more then helpful and will make it right.

fatboyzkustoms 09-15-2008 09:04 PM

i bought them from classic industries, i'm thinking they might have sent me the wrong set (for 67-69). if you have a pic of the set for 70-81 that would be a great help and if someone has a pic of them installed

thanks alicia

Car is hot as hell honey.....I have a set on mine and they fit perfect. One of the few parts that did. :D

Steve Chryssos 09-17-2008 01:19 PM

Alicia,
2nd gen core support bars measure 16 inches from bolt center to bolt center. 1st gen bars measure 18.25 inches. These are OE specs and our bars follow the OE specs. A flexible measuring tape will help you measure your bars. Sounds like they shipped you a set of 1st gen bars by accident.

Feel free to give us a call if you need any further assistance. Beautiful car!!

fatboyzkustoms 09-17-2008 03:12 PM

thanks again, i guess i will have to go measure them

alicia

fatboyzkustoms 09-17-2008 05:17 PM

okay so i measured them they are the right size. maybe my brain stopped working but still don't know where to bolt them? this is what they look like in my car. are they both supposed to have a flat end to bolt them? i know on the first gen they bolt sideways to the fender but not on the 2nd gen.

you know come to think of it... steve did you ever try on 2nd firebirds???
cause aafter see here pics i remeber a guy in my club made some for his 79 and they mounted flat on the fender and not on the side like the camaros.
alicia my 1970 camaro mounts on the side just like the first gens...
heres a pic of how the stock bars mount in firebirds steve.http://images.highperformancepontiac...ngine_View.jpg

lil427z 09-17-2008 06:58 PM

the 2nd gen camaro is different than the 2nd   firebird.

fatboyzkustoms 09-17-2008 07:02 PM

alicia

Steve Chryssos 09-17-2008 07:12 PM

Alicia,
You will need to send them back to Classic Industries since they have your money. We'll get to work on some second gen Firebird and T/A bars ASAP and get you out a set at no charge when they are ready to make up for your troubles. Please email or PM me with your contact info.
Sorry for the inconvenience
/Steve

Twist machine fender braces

well it's been 4 months now and i guess all that about sending me out new fender braces that fit was a bunch of B.S.

thanks steve

have you contacted Steve? To make a brand new piece can take a while. It would be nice if you'd at least call him and see what he says first.

he needed to make a new part from what his post says(not just r-send you an existing part), he also said to return yours thru classic so you were out no money. now your made he can't produce a part for free over night?
come on.

Steve Chryssos 01-03-2009 06:32 AM

Search Twist Machine HERE on Lateral-g or on any other site and you will find not one other incidence of customer complaint or dissatisfaction.

We go above and beyond any normal business practice for customer satisfaction. 100% money back guarantee including shipping both ways. Unconditional. That policy makes most of my business peers cringe. It's an easy policy to support, because it rarely needs to be applied.

So you can see how it might PAIN me to be called a liar--Especially without any previous attempts at personal contact. Second gen Pontiac core bars are an important part. They need to be made. And they are in the works. And development started after completion of our billet gauge bezels.

But we're not going to make the same mistake twice. Application confirmation needs to be tested IN-HOUSE on 70-73, 74-76, 77-78 and 79-81. The process started by locating a local Long Island Trans Am collector. Part fitment needs to compensate for variations in sheetmetal. So far, that appears to be an overkill approach. But that's how it's gonna be.

Could take another six to eight months to build parts that will satisfy our unconditional guarantee requirements.

Thank YOU for your patience
/Steevo

fesler 01-03-2009 06:49 AM

Well said Steve,

Problem I see here is that people think they can just call and have us make parts overnight. First you have to find and get the car and you may have it in and out of the shop 10 times test fitting things and what they really dont get is all the time and money that goes into making sure they fit right and wont have issues.

I would like to talk to you Steve when you have a chance.

thedugan 01-03-2009 08:34 AM

If it means anything.

I ltill love you Steve....

Did you really post this without making any attempt to contact Steve?
You will never find a vendor more willing to do whats right for his customers than Steve C.

BBC69Camaro 01-03-2009 09:48 AM

I think comp'ing a new part in this case was above and beyond. Especially in this case what was a vendor screw-up outside the control of Twist Machine.

I think that is pretty damn fine service if you ask me! Makes me confident to deal with Twist Machine and Steve.

Easssssy there.....In case you did not know, Steve is a supporting vendor here and at other sites and his products and customer service are top notch. You should take the time to call and talk to him and you will see what kind of stand-up guy he is before trying to drag his rep through the mud. Not that you will get anywhere trying to do that here as we all know better, most by personal experience.

Flash68 01-03-2009 12:17 PM

Geez.... it would have taken you less time to dial his phone # (which was previously provided to you) than to write this unfair post.

fatboyzkustoms 01-03-2009 04:59 PM

okay sorry for everyone thinking that i was calling steve a liar and coming off completely wrong in that message. but the last messages that i sent you never got replied to, maybe you just never got them, i don't know.

sorry

I'd call him and talk to him. I have spoken with him a few times, very easy to talk to, just pickup the phone.

Vegas69 01-04-2009 12:05 AM

You can't please everybody all the time. If you can make 99% of your clients happy then you are beating the average. I love my twist machine supports.

Steve Chryssos 01-05-2009 03:48 PM

Thanks everyone.

Good speaking with you Chris

deuce_454 01-05-2009 04:10 PM

the fenderbraces is the only part steve sells that i havent bought for my car... but the shrifter, the compushift and the pro-tourque were top notch products, and the service was stellar.. the compushift came pre programmed for my specifications.. who has ever heard of a vendor powering up pre boxed electronics and programming somthing that comes with a manual for a costumer free of charge....

i think the offer of sending you a first run part.. that was engineered because of you being given wrong info by a third party... for FREE!! is beyond generous..

and your gratitude is just classy! :wow:

i mean where does steve come off not engineering a product for free when it suits you?? (that last statement was perhaps a bit on the ironic side)

fatboyzkustoms 01-05-2009 06:48 PM

okay i'll say it again i'm sorry,
next time i want to see how the're coming along i will just call instead of emailling you

and yes i know he is or at least was being very generous, and i am very happy about that, there was no wuestions asked just okay i see that they are wrong and will fix it. no company does that anymore.

okay i feel really bad now, i have learned my lesson and will pick up a telephone next time.

Same to you Steve and as everyone up here says you seem like a great guy and look forward to doing some stuff with you.

Van B 01-05-2009 09:03 PM

Purely a testimonial here. Not smacking fatboy over the head again.

Last summer I was talking to Steve about his shift handles and I was not sure about them. Since I had previously bought some stuff from him he offered to send me one with confidence that once I held it in my hand I would send him the dough. To make a long story short, before I could take him up on the offer, another member here posted one for sale, saving me a little money.

There's a cool guy!

fatboyzkustoms 01-05-2009 09:38 PM

Thanks for not smacking me over the head, i'm sure i pissed of a few people(didn't mean to sorry everyone). and they probably wanted to do more than smack me over the head.

Alicia

deuce_454 01-06-2009 01:42 AM

i for my part have done all the smacking i could ever wish for :P ... didnt mean to rub it in though.. im glad you got a hold of steve..

now post some pics of that firebird and and enloy the good people that generally hang out here... :lateral:
