best motor mounts
Does anyone have any suggestions for motor mounts for small block (66a-body) to LS1 swap?:woot:
|
I sure that tyler has something over at ATS link on the left

Both Autokraft and American Touring Specialties offer what you're looking for and both are very nice.

Thanks!

DO NOT use ATS mounts on an A-body. They cause all kinds of problems. PM for more info on my ongoing ATS nightmare.

hmmmmmmmmm.................... somehow they seemed to be fine on my 64 Chevelle. Jody |
Don't see how unless they sucked you into buying their $4000 accessory drive and $600 oil pan...
Because if you don't have those, the center link hits the oil pan and the factory A/C compressor supposedly doesn't fit either.. |

I can, and do blame ATS. NOWHERE does it say his pan or accessory drive is required for proper fitment. It says bolt on. Its not. He came right out on the PT Forum that he was going to change the wording of the ad. Of course, its still the same...
Typical for Tyler. The finger never points at him. Quote:

1. LSX engine groups were not designed for the early model chassis 2. LSX engine mounts, exhaust manifolds, oil pans, and A/C compressors don't fit back into a majority of factory frames save for the original donor cars these engines were installed into. 3. T56 six speeds don't fit the A body trans tunnel (I bet you'd like to blame me for that too eh?) 4. To make the LSX swap a 100% bolt in you will have to use mostly aftermarket items; this includes oil pans, headers, plates, accessory drives, wiring harnesses/reprogrammed computers, throttle cable conversions for the gas pedal, radiators with electric fans, and fuel tanks. I'd be happy to buy your mounts and plates back at full retail, no matter the condition. Of the few hundred sets I've sold, you are still the one and only guy who has such an issue with them. I'd love to hear which product you would recommend that meets your requirements. If the cost is the same as my mounts, I'll buy you a set of my competitors mounts and send you on your merry way. How does that sound? Tyler |
Pure BS. Do you work for the auto industry too?
One of the few industries left on the planet where a part is ADVERTISED as bolt on, requires 10 hours (if you're lucky) of fabrication just to get it close, then the maker of the part has the b@lls to say "see, I told you it was bolt on"........ Just so we understand each other, I've built a low 10 second, 3400lb drag car before, so I understand its been this way since the beggining of time. That doesn't make it right. A simple astrisk after the false claim with a note at the bottom of the page explaining that you need to spend another $5000 to "bolt on" ATS's mounts would be all that its necessary. Of course, Tyler knows EXACTLY what that would do to his already faultering sales.... As far as the other manufacturers go, there are two that have unique desings that were actually mocked up on a A-body (Tylers weren't and he admitted that to me) and fit fine with the stock pan. So, the whole "if you want it to handle right" BS that ATS origiinated, by the way, doesn't fly at all. Its just a poorly designed and misrepresented item that was designed to work with 1st gen F-bodies. Tyler just decided to stick it to the A-body guys to get a few more bucks. Quote:

You say narrow, I say honest. I don't expect you'd know the difference.
Now that I've fabbed the hell out of them to get them to work you want to buy them back? Nice. Nothing a little reverse engineering couldn't fix, huh? Too late. 2. Lies, lies, lies. They all work "properly" when you spend a little time with them. Tell us all how many 68-72 A-bodies you've had to do this transplant on Tyler. I'm interested to hear.... Don't worry, no one will ever know ATS products are/were on the car Tyler. You can bet on that. Quote:

You are trying to make it sound like we are attempting to represent these plates as the only items needed to make the LSX engine bolt into any early chassis when that is just not the case. Tyler PS- I've has a minimum of a 60% increase in sales every year since I opened in 2000. If that is what you consider "faltering sales" figures, you need to go back to accounting school. |
And perhaps Tyler can answer this simple question:
How come none of these so called "facts" that everyone takes for granted (meaning just him) are on your website, right next to where you're trying to sell your product, "explaining" this to folks? Answer: You sell less product. Narrow? Yep, that's me............. |
Nevermind, you are no longer with us.

OK, QSpres is taking a break for now. To get back on track, the ATS and Autokraft mounts will work to mount the engine in the car, but you will need a custom pan to clear the stock subframe in most cases. The GM accessory drives will work depending on the config, but the a/c if mounted low will likely need a custom mount. Otherwise, the ATS, Synister, V/A, Billet Specialties type front systems should also work with these mounts.

Man, what an idiot..
You offered a refund.. you offered to buy him a competitors product.. And what more are you supposed to do? Maybe a unicorn will fly down from a magic rainbow and bring him the miraculous engine plates that will let him swap in an LS engine without any other modified or aftermarket parts. lol |
