Looking for feedback on these wheels

Probably go with flat black to match the flat black side striping I'm going to put on the car. Looks very evil to me. Jeff Trush gets credit for the idea, and I'm starting to come around to it. Too much or just right?

Jody

jonny51 12-15-2004 06:57 PM

Bad Bad BAd Idea LOL!JK I really like the black wheel thing ;)

Have Kris black out the windows.

The car looks killer i think.

BC69 12-15-2004 07:08 PM

I was just looking at the other renderings, and I am a fan of the black. Kind of puts a new spin on the Fikse wheels. If your gonna go with black, mine as well go alll out and do the wheels too. I like the flat black idea to, wouldnt look right in a gloss at all.

Just my .02 cents

Tim

jonny51 12-15-2004 07:10 PM

Correct me if I am wrong but FIkse only does one black finish "Race Black" right?

camcojb 12-15-2004 07:19 PM

I'll have these powder-coated locally if I do it; won't be sending them back to Fikse.

Jody

XcYZ 12-15-2004 07:29 PM

Wow, whoever photoshopped that did an awesome job. :p

Jody

Oh yeah i forgot you had them already :p

Don't forget the steelers logo on the passenger door :D

XcYZ 12-15-2004 07:36 PM

It was either make the post and pat my self on the back, or make the wheel centers pink. :D

The real credit goes to Trush and his visions of the CTS-V, I only spent a minute or two painting the centers. lol

DCreations 12-15-2004 07:50 PM

I really dig rims when they have the same color as the body!! Is it the same car that you had that orange kinda color?

XcYZ 12-15-2004 08:30 PM

Jonny made me do it...

Car

The more I look at it the more I like it. Also, go Steelers.

Steve Chryssos 12-15-2004 09:05 PM

Definitely go black.

Yes it is. I could not find the shade of my rendering that looked good to me so I gave up and went with black.

Jody

Musclerodz 12-15-2004 10:33 PM

Looks sinister. I think I would hard anodize them black. It would look more 'factory' that way.

Mike

zbugger 12-15-2004 11:13 PM

I like the black wheels. And now that I've approved it, you can safely do it. :D

slck6t9 12-16-2004 06:08 AM

I'm with Stuart. The more I look at it the more I like. I'm not usually a colored wheel person but your picture sure does keep making me come back to it. I would have to say yes..

Scott

1968rsss 12-16-2004 08:20 AM

I say leave them satin silver? I think it will be too black from the side. And maybe a satin silver stripe to match the wheels.

.............but that is my opinion

Ummgawa 12-16-2004 10:30 AM

Magazine Car for Sure!!!

MaxHarvard 12-16-2004 10:43 AM

I love them!!

I agree with the wheel part.

Right now are the spokes satin with a polished hoop? I'd like that.

Ricochet 12-16-2004 01:47 PM

Just IMO..Since you asked..I would go black as well. Jeff has mentioned that to me as well. It will look awesome on your car Jody. One thing I would do, which you may be doing already, is to run the wheelwell opening moldings. It will brake everything up. Not to mention it will tie in with the polished hoops on the wheels. Like Nike says..."Just Do It"

Steve Chryssos 12-16-2004 02:16 PM

Either way will look great but shiny aluminum or chrome is more traditional. Black will make more of a styling statement. Hell, Steve Strope went with White on the GTX-R. I wouldn't go that far. But for a minute there, I almost did this:
http://homepage.mac.com/streetfytr/....amaro3gold.jpg Check out how the red wheel overlays against the "Olds 442 W-30" inspired stripe. Maybe my next car.

Anyone can build a Nash Metropolitan and be different. The real challenge comes from making a popular platform like the Camaro look different and still be cool.

Stuart Adams 12-16-2004 02:28 PM

Car

Jody, with the brake rotors, side markers, hoops, SS emblems all similiar color and the rest black it will IMO look awesome. It will be unique and a very special car - also I would IMO try and have a color theme in the engine compartment that is simple but flows. I'm really excited to see it, of course it's your decision. Man its great spending other peoples money!!

Ummgawa 12-16-2004 05:02 PM

Maybe Kris will get my rendering done and You Dudes can see my paint job scheme.

Maybe. KRIS!!!!!!

61Bubbletop 12-16-2004 08:32 PM

I love it!

Well, I am glad you are considering it Jody, like I said, it is merely a suggestion, I have no more money to build another car, so I have to push my ideas on other people and live vicariously through my friends!! :p

Actually, what the rendering really doesn't show, or at least not in as much detail, is like what was previously mentioned, you will have window trim, door handles, billet sidemarkers etc...all of these will break up the "black", especially when you brush all of the exterior trim on the car, it will look like stainless...oh wait, did I say brush all of the exterior trim? That was my second suggestion ;) So many ideas, so little money to execute them..story of my life.

BTW, I already started picking names for your car: Darth Vader,Black Plague, Project Satan, well, ok maybe not that one...how about, "The Black Hole", Project Blackout...etc etc....Yeah, I know, don't quit my day job. :o

camcojb 12-16-2004 08:38 PM

Well guys, I've pretty much made up my mind to do it. The car will be in paint in 2 weeks so I'll post up some pics when it's back together and you can tell me if I made a mistake!

Jody

61Bubbletop 12-16-2004 08:45 PM

Hey!

Don't blame me!!!!...J/K...look on the bright side, if you hate it, you can unbolt those tasty three piece wheels and have the center stripped....

hotwheels 12-16-2004 09:19 PM

your car is gonna look awesome. period........those wheels really give the car it's own personality........um, loose the steeler decal though........hotwheels :p

XcYZ 12-19-2004 03:50 PM

Good idea, Jeff. How about Deth Metal (I loved the 80's :D ), or something to do with stealth.

Steve Chryssos 12-20-2004 06:36 AM

Eddie.

Jody, I just got around to reading this entire thread......I love the wheels but also really love the overall tone and theme of the car (although I could be biased!). Keeping the accents to a tasteful minimum is stylish and I believe cosmetically understating a car's potential is always cool. As I said before, black tends to wash out a car's lines but; combined with the flat black hockey stripe that mimics the body line and the wheelwell chrome, this car's looks is going to be tough to beat! I hope I can park my jalopy next to your ride whe it's finished. :D

I just hope it turns out in real life like I think it will. Thanks Keith, you're car is every bit as nice.

...ahhhh...I meant the chrome part on the wheel...not the wheelwell. OOps! :o

Jody, I love it. Wheelwell trim, as Brett suggested, most definately. The wheels will look real nice with the black centers...I guess you have considered having the wheels taken apart and the centers black anodized? That finish would look REAL nice...but of course a PITA to do now...

907rs 12-21-2004 12:04 PM

Jody, It's going to look killer!

I've always been a fan of blacked out centers on the right car. I think it's good that you're keeping the hoops polished.

That car is going to POP!
