Thanks Bill I appreciate it!!

No problem. Doug, you really need to submit that car to Scott for the members rides section. It deserves it's own page!

CAMAROBOY69 08-22-2005 08:38 AM

That is bad ass!!!!! Cant wait to see more pics! :hail:

HWY Nova 08-22-2005 09:12 AM

VERY nice!

jonny51 08-22-2005 09:18 AM

Very nice,love the wheels

Sinco 08-22-2005 09:26 AM

Actually Wayne just put those on to roll it around in the shop. I still haven't decided on wheel selection. They will be 18s in the front and 19s in the back.

MarkM66 08-22-2005 09:40 AM

Nice! Does Wayne sell that frame as a kit? Or is it custom built only?

Sinco 08-22-2005 09:42 AM

It was all custom built.

XcYZ 08-22-2005 09:46 AM

Wow, fantastic. Your car really needs to be featured.

How do I go about doing this? I'm fairly new to the board and we've been working on the frame for a while so there hasn't been alot to report. Now that it's done we will start all the fabrication of firewall floor etc.

XcYZ 08-22-2005 09:51 AM

Doug, send pictures and text to me at [email protected] and I'll put a complete webpage together featuring your car. It would be a great addition to Lateral-g.

HWY Nova 08-22-2005 10:03 AM

Hey Sinco, Does Ryan Butler have a web-site?

Musclerodz 08-22-2005 12:26 PM

That is a killer stance on that Nova. Keep us updated.

That looks absolutely killer, I love how clean the frame is.

A question, I see you have a ford 8.8 in there, how strong are those puppies? I'm looking for a diff to replace the stock (weak) unit in my vette, if it's as strong or stronger than the c4 dana 44 I may go that route instead

I was told they are pretty stout and should support about 750 rwhp. You could ask Wayne about it he would be able to tell you more.

Twin_Turbo 09-09-2005 03:46 AM

Who's Wayne?

I need to get hold of a rear end that will live behind a 598, eventually it'll be either turbocharged or blown. I want to keep the rear an IRS as I have spent tons and tons of hours in making my own custom IRS, backhalving the car would be the easy way out, something I won't consider untill I can't find anything that will at least last on the street

Steve Chryssos 09-09-2005 06:04 AM

Wow, those are some beautifully bent frame rails. I can't believe how narrow the front rails are. Is there room for the engine/headers?

Nice job

Doug,

Looking fabulous! Morrison does a nice job on those 2x4 rails. Wayne seems to be doing his usual stellar work too. You're in good hands. Congratulations on the progress so far.

One caution: the frame rails ahead of the wheels are too long (ask me how I know!), and will need to be trimmed back several inches to allow for things like a radiator and bumper mounts. It's likely the little round tube up front is destined for use as a vise tightener (that's what mine does). It's not a big deal yet, but don't anybody start hanging things off those frame rails up there.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

XcYZ 09-09-2005 06:49 AM

Doug, I got your e-mail, did you get me response?

parsonsj 09-09-2005 06:58 AM

One more thing ...

Also, be sure you have a viable exhaust tube path. Now's the time to figure that out ... before the floors go back in.

It's tight but everything will fit. Not even sure which way were going with the power plant yet. If we go NA Ryan will be custom making the headers and if we go TT he will be fab the manifolds. Either way it's all got to be custom.

Thanks John. I'll let Ryan know about the frame rails and I think he's already put alot of thought in the exhaust. Btw how's your beast coming, I've been busy and haven't been following the forum?

parsonsj 09-09-2005 10:37 AM

Doug, I'm doing all the "make it pretty" stuff now. I have parts all over the east coast getting painted, powder coated, anodized, and nickel plated. I picked up my rear end housing yesterday, and some anodized parts today. My brake lines are on order, and they tell my engine is only a couple of weeks away. I'm actually close to putting on parts that won't be taken back off again.

Scott will be posting some pics of new fabrication.

Hey Doug,

Good to see that you finally got someone to start on the floor panels and trunk. Any idea when I will be able to go by and see your car? Call me.

Well it's been a while but we have made some progress. Just to get up to speed I had Wayne Due build me a frame for the car. As it turned out it had many problems. We had to redo fabrication on the rear end just to get the third member out of the car. I don't know what Wayne was thinking?? Also the expensive shocks he out in won't work unless I want the car to look like a stink bug. Wayne suggested a cobra r rear end which worked but my fabricator had to search high and low to get axles made.

As far as the front end all that was wrong too. Caster and camber was all wrong so we had to fabricate new upper control arms and lay back the mounts. With that all fixed you can see the progress in the pictures. We are ordering a radiator and need to decide on which fuel injection to go with.
