BMW wheels for Camaro?
 

ive always heard that BMW wheels will fit 1st gen Camaros. But there is some things you have to do too that Im not aware of... Could someone help me out and break this down for me on what EXACTLY is needed to be done to make this happen? Please :thumbsup:

bmw rims are 5x120mm bolt circle, GM is 5x4-3/4 or 5x120.65mm the back spacing on BMW rism is measured in ET, which is the distance in mm from the centerline.. so an 8 inch rim with ET12 has 4.5 inches of BS..

they go on just fine, if you are super woried about the .325 mm offset of the holes.. dont be... but if one were really anal, one could use flat faced lugnuts with conical washers...

do a search on ebay for staggered bmw rims and a million cheap and super cool rims appear.. again do the math, a 9.5 inch rim with ET25 is 5.5 inch BS, and which its my understanding fits on a 1.gen

Also, BMW wheels have a 74mm hub bore, while a chevy hub is 70.5mm. You will need a hubcentric (aka hub centering) rings to take up that gap so that the wheels are supported and centered on the hub.

I'm 99% sure that those hub diameters are correct but please confirm. On Ebay and other places you can find people who will make custom hub centering rings.

I nearly went this route by putting E39 m5 wheels on my 68 Camaro so I did a lot of checking. They're so sexy, I still may in the future...

I have "Rondell"-wheels ,17" x 8-1/2 on My El Camino.
BMW M5 ,replicas.
Work just fine for a daily driver.

I also bought wheels for a BMW and had them widened for 335's. Check out my build thread in my signature for more information.

I run BMW wheels. Needed spacers that I custom built, longer studs, and the stud holes in the wheels machined out.

nice Elky you got there:thumbsup: so like GBody said, did you have to drill out the holes anymore also? or did they fit just fine with the hubcentric rings?

ive always had a thing for the BMW wheels and just recently discovered that they "bolt on". So a buddy says...

And where can i find those hubcentric rings? ebay?

There were no hubcentric rings with the wheels ,when I bought the car.
Just conical lug nuts.
Worked well.No vibrations.
IMO ,hubcentric rings should be used,for safety.
Now I have changed the wheels to Olds SST 4-3/4 boltpattern.

While I see the point you're trying to make, that post may not be the best way to point it out. Out of 13 posts, one guy saw pictures of one wheel failure.

Believe me, I didn't come to my own opinion about replicas based on this one thread either...there's plenty on that same forum and other bmw forums about replicas that can/should be researched. If you are considering running replicas, you should take the time to understand the purchase you are going to make, especially with something as vital as wheels.

Additionally, not all replicas are created equally. I usually err on the side of paranoia, so I am going to stay away from them all together.

I'm certainly not knocking all aftermarket wheels...what I'm referring to when I say "replica" is not just any aftermarket wheel that will fit a BMW, but wheels that are actually listed as "BMW Replica" or "BMW Style" wheels that are intended to clone the OEMs

These wheels are copies of the OEMs, but do not carry the mfr numbering on the back of the spokes and rim. Some are fine I'm sure but the quality will vary.
