Tony's car "Karma" has arrived

Tony's Camaro made it to the shop at 6:30. We gave it a quick wash, and shot some pics.....Overall the car doesn't look too bad. It's in all the areas where a lot of people neglect when doing them over, like in the jams back of fenders ect... that needs the most work.

Oh good it made it there safe! Thanks for taking/posting the pics, didn't take you long to find the major problems!

Thanks again Pete!! I'm damn happy you are doing the car!!

68protouring454 09-29-2008 07:10 PM

pete, not bad, you will have that fixed in no time.
by the looks, with some more prep and better taping, the old painter would of probably made the owner happy.
it is easy to paint a car assembled, but the job is not nearly as nice and detailed as when its blown apart for panel painting, which as you can see hear killed the other guy. man those spots probably look horrid with the shiny paint close by.
that door jamb made me dry heave

GMracer 09-29-2008 07:18 PM

definitely looking forward to seeing progress on this one. Sucks it wasn't done right the first time and like mentioned already doesn't look like it would have taken much more time and effort to have had it done right.

LOL!

Good thing you didn't see the seam sealer! Might need a breath mint and a shoe shine!!

NOVA 09-29-2008 07:24 PM

in this particular case, will you still need to take the whole car apart and start over or is some things (the other painter did) thats salvageable?
Just curious.

This car will come completely apart and be prepped properly. Then it will be painted with the trunk and nose off the car in pieces. Then assembled.

waynieZ 09-29-2008 07:43 PM

Glad to hear it got there ok .I'm going to watch this thread. Way to go Pete.

Steve1968LS2 09-29-2008 07:50 PM

Looks like it mostly fails in the details department.. much dirt in the paint? Fish eyes?

Gaps?

We need a report man! lol

comp-spec 09-29-2008 07:58 PM

The paint job overall isn't that bad. Needs more wet sanding and buffing. The jam areas are so bad that it would require a complete paint job to fix them properly. The gaps aren't bad, the hood to cowl area was the worst.

ProdigyCustoms 09-29-2008 08:01 PM

That right door to quarter gap looks like it has Camel Toe!

Looks like you have some work in front of you to tidy it up.

Anthony said you could just send the spoiler to me:unibrow: Him and I have had a few conversations about it, I like the idea.

BRIAN 09-30-2008 06:55 AM

Looks like the difference between a $5k and $15k paint job. Easy to put on aftermarket parts not so easy to make them look OEM. Hate to say it but there are tons of cars out there with the same job passing off for show cars.

Problem is where do you stop in correction now that your name is on it?? Sure it will look killer when done.

Good luck!!

tones2SS 09-30-2008 07:19 AM

NICE!!!!
It's finally in Pete's hands. Now we know Anthony's gonna get a great job done on the car.
Way to go Pete!!!

Yeah right! It wouldn't fit anyways....well not without some work!

bigtyme1 09-30-2008 07:43 AM

Sorry, I did'nt think you were awake yet...

Steve1968LS2 09-30-2008 07:59 AM

I've got a spare rear spoiler here if you want it (if you want to ditch the three-piece deal).

Just let me know.

A big thanks to DOOM' (mario) I just got off the phone with him and he is going to take care of all the materials.
He said to get what ever it takes to fix the car right and he'll send a check to cover the cost. That's stepping up man
This is a big help we all know that materials are not cheap.
