LS7 1gen 1/4 mile times ??
Has anybody tested what kind of 1/4 performance is 1 gen camaro with LS7-T56 capable ?
|
I sure want to find out. My local track was flooded during the heavy rains we had during the Power Tour, and since opening back up, they're only running the 1/8th. That doesn't get me very excited.

I have been wanting to see that as well. I think with sticky tires(17-18) drag radials will be around 11.6-11.8 at 122 or so. The mph is capable of high 10's in a set up drag car.

there are many variables here . What kind of set up ? Are you talking 335 street tires, or a drag type set up ?

Stock LS7? That is about 430-440 rwhp, assuming a 3400 lb raceweight and decent traction, that is good for low 11s @ 120-122 if the driver can shift. Figure that is with a conservative 1.75-1.80 60' time.
I had a similar combo in a similar weight car (382ci LS1 = 440 rwhp, 3450 lb raceweight, T56) and it went 11.19 @ 125 with a 1.67 short time. On drag radials it would run 11.27 @ 125, with a 1.80 60' Tony |

It may not help you much but I recall Hot Rod did the crate engine shootout with a chevelle, I know its not a camaro but I believe it would give you represenative info for what you are looking at. The month is october Here is a video of the comparison and I believe it has times also in the article

Far from what most of us are doing, but it's an excellent idea and comparison. I think it's really cool. Is the article online or is it in the current newsstand issue? I'd like to check it out.
I know that my LS7, even with a small cam, pulls extremely hard and just keeps pulling. There's absolutely no comparison between the LS7 to the 434 small block that I used to have. |
