1969 mustang sports roof

Hi, my name is Rob from Ca (currently in Sac but So-cal in a few weeks) The latest project is a 1969 mustang fastback that was given to me by my pops after returning from a deployment to Iraq/kuwait.

The car is in great shape, its rust free and an original 351 FMX car. Right now it has a 302 and T-5 in it. Both built by me. It runs pretty strong but could use another 250 hp..haha.

Plans are a 4-link (designed and built by yours truly) and QA-1 coil overs complimented with production coilover kit for the front.(tcp or the like) and some sub-frame connectors that I fabbed up at work.

Im a bit of a hobby machinist so expect lots of one-off aluminum bits etc.

I recently was turned to the pro-touring style and now im hooked. I got turned on to it by the lead fabricator at work. ( who is currently in the middle of a coupe/fastback conversion on a 65). Before talking to him I was unsure of the direction I wanted to take the car, but its very clear now! :woot:

I have some pics of the car but its not much to look at in it's current state.

Stay tuned, Ill post up some progress threads once I'm all moved in to the new place in Corona.

Not a very welcoming place.... Almost 100 views and no welcome :(
I know it's a pretty stock looking fastback, but that's very very temporary

I new around here but thanks for your service in the military and welcome!

BTW the 69 fastback is my favorite Ford, and yours looks like its coming along nicely!

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words about the car. Should be painted in a few months. As for the military service, my pleasure.

You've got a sweet starting point

I know you want to do the 4 link in back to showcase your fabricating skills. If you want a more bolt on route I run caltracs and custome buitl leafs in my Torino and am pretty happy with it's performance at this part. I'm looking at running a FAYS II watts link (he doesn't make one yet for my car but I've spoken to him about it). I'm running the RRS kit in front and think that coilover ste up is pretty slick for a street car although many think the double wishboone coilover of TCP and Global west have more potential due to the camber curve vs the Mac Strut in the RRS. The Porsche and BMW guys seem to have proven in a street car Mac Strus can do a lot and so far I agree. Welcome.

Welcome to the board - this is a great site.

Looks like it's going to be a fun project.

I also had a color bone fracture similar to yours. I broke mine in 9pcs and dislocated the shoulder. Puting my shoulder back in was a bitch. The finally put my color bone back together 4 or 5 months later in the operating room after i almost bleed out one night. One of the fragment poked a hole in my sub-clavin artery.

And also thank for defending a representing out country in the service.

What branch were you in ?

Nice car. From some pics I've seen there is a lot of potential in those cars. My dad has a 69 428scj not restomoded but still gets a lot of looks. Good luck and thanks for the service.

I'd love to see some pics of your rear end set up. Thanks for the welcome and the kind words!

Damn...mine was just four pieces, the two halfs and two fragments. All I know is that it was the most pain ive ever felt...not breaking it but living with it...the pins...the fact that you can feel it shifting when you lay down...the pin rupturing my skin and causing ER trips...the entire thing was just no fun at all.

I gave 6 years active duty to the Air Force. Best and worst 6 years of my life so far!

Thank you for the kind words.

I don't yet have the FAYS II watts link but that along with a roll cage and subframe connectors is next on the list.
