Awesome car. I'm always a big fan of the tri-five cars. I like the attention to detail on the firewall matching the intake block outline. Great job!!!!

jy211,

The firewall started out as a sheet of 16 gauge sheetmetal. It was the first time I attempted something like this but I think it turned out OK. I just used cardboard to build a template.

Below is how the car started. I took it all the way down to the frame. Installed all new stainless fuel and brake lines, new exhuast that I will have coated at a later time. Also a Rick's Hot Rod Shop stainless fuel tank.

I included some additional pictures of the wilwood brakes and the wheels.

Below is how I brought the A/C and heater hoses from the Vintage Air unit to the engine compartment.

The car will be painted a different color that has not been decided yet. I change my mind everytime I see some of the cars at the Goodguys events with the high quality paint jobs.

Looks great, glad you're posting.

A couple of questions... With it being popular nowadays to swap out the stock frame, what factor(s) convinced you to not do that?

Have you decided on a 2 tone or single color?

Also, what colors have you ruled out... if any?

Pilot20 10-15-2008 05:52 AM

55Forward,

When I started the build it was only going to be a nice driver. I blame this website and the Goodguys shows to what it has turned in to. At this point I have spent too much time and money on the stock frame to change. If I was going to do it all over again I probably would go with a Morrison chassis.

I plan on using a single color. I haven't ruled out any colors but I want something to be a little different then the many red and black 57's that I see out there.

Nothing looks better than a Hogan intake!

Love the build.

moparnate 10-18-2008 11:26 AM

man that looks awesome, I love shoeboxes! It reminds me of the 1st hot rod I ever rode in. It was my neighbors turquoise 57 hard top and I was 8 years old. I'll never forget that car.

Rybar 10-18-2008 02:45 PM

Killer car, I love showboxes as we, especially done nice like this.

I actually really like the colour it is. Keeps it more to the era of when the car was built. I think that's why alot of them are red.

fleetus macmullitz 10-18-2008 03:03 PM

Another example of a color NOT overdone, here's Marty McGuire's Dad's car before and after paint/wheel mods.
