How I do it

Well, I have had a lot of folks ask about how I do the renderings and thought I would show this working video. I am actually testing some new software so I thought I would record it and show what it does. It is kinda slow but I think you will get the idea. Its like building a car.... just quicker and you cannot drive it!

Pretty slick. Let me get this straight, you are working on another program trying to put us artists out of a job?!LOL Nice work. So I see it is 3-D and not just photochopped. Drop me a line if you are still interested in the wheels. I am starting to get a little audience in that field.

That software is pretty slick...looks like real-time rendering. Beats the old way of having to test render, make changes, test render again...

Is it software-specific or a plugin for various 3D suites?

Looks good Carter! We need to get together next year sometime.

CarterHickmanDesigns 11-18-2008 09:34 PM

Tony, thats for sure. I always seemed to be out of town for the big Fenton cruise.

Carter, that it totally cool! I have a love for those blazers as well! I really need to pick one up for later while you can still find them!

Thanks for sharing!

Man, that is so cool. It sure would be nice to be able to do that in photoshop. Hey, I have a question for ya. How big can you render something? 3000+ pixel jpg? If so, I would like to talk to ya about some stuff......

Tyler all my final renders are over 4k wide at 300 dpi with built in alpha channels and some other cool stuff in the file as well.

Kris, sorry man for not answering you. This is a new software package that I am working on in conjuction with another company. Yes what you were watching was almost realtime raytracing. You will actually be able to design on the car as well as doing wheels and stance.

That's pretty cool. No modeling features though, right?

CarterHickmanDesigns 11-23-2008 03:42 PM

correct, only rendering and setup

pacificustoms 11-25-2008 02:10 PM

Thats why you get paid the big bucks there! That was awesome, makes it harder and harder to decide on a color now when they all look that good!
